Weren't those kitchens from Antique Home Style beautiful? Today I am going to share bedrooms! Most of these pictures are actually advertisements for flooring, hence the bright carpets and floor coverings. A cheerful little bedroom under the eves. I have always loved dormers. 1920s architects made great use of them in bungalow style houses. Through the doorway one catches a glimpse of a sewing room.......rather interesting a curtain is used to separate the two. An attic bedroom. Did you notice a chair is almost always pictured? I love the idea! It would be very handy to have someplace to sit, especially if it is a cozy one like the wing chair above! I hadn't realized painted furniture was so popular in this era. I love the same of the headboards and the painted roses.
The designers behind this 1924 Tudor home saved its charm, right down to the backyard trees and now-white facade.
Armstrong Cork Co., at least in some part, owes its successful marketing of linoleum floors to its interior designers who produced a wonderful collection of illustrations during the 1920s. Source: Ladies Home Journal Image from the 1920s bedroom gallery at American Home & Style.
This is a set of 2 French Art Deco lithographs that feature interior room settings for bedrooms. They came from a French porfolio of interiors, L'Ameublement et le Garde-Meuble Reunis, c 1920s. They feature classic and iconic funriture and room decor that showcase the Modernistic elements of the period. They each are rich in detail! Note the styling of the bed designs, rugs, armoire, side dressers, vanity set, etc. Note too the wall moldings and wall decor! They are in excellent vintage condition consistent with age and history. Signed in the lithograph stone. Horizontal format. 11 x 15 inches. Interior image is 8 x 12. The pair make a great Art Deco wall decor statement. less
Wonderful traditional bedroom plan with a linoleum floor of course. This would be easily reproduced in any 20s Revival style, Colonial or Dutch Colonial revival. Feminine without being syrupy. Nice triadic scheme of Imperial Blue, Flamingo Pink, and buttery yellow. Source: Ladies Home Journal Image from the 1920s bedroom gallery at American Home & Style.
I guess I'll do a few posts over the next couple of weeks where I share some of the best pictures I've collected over the years showing room interiors from the early 1900's. Since I'm getting ready to finish a bedroom, I thought I would share some bedrooms today. (Unfortunately, in the early days of collecting pictures, I wasn't always good about noting the original source.)
