Ultima GTR (2000-on) Engine 6300cc V8 Registration Number DOM 1 P ULTIMA SET www.flickr.com/photos/45676495@N05/sets/72157630805723414... Ted Marlow bought the rights to the Ultima from Lee Noble who then went on to do his own thing at Noble. With Marlow setting up business in Hinkley, Leicestershire. The original Ultimas were racecars but Marlow had ideas of producing it as a road car. Supplied both in kit form and factory built. The design is mid engined, rear wheel drive layout, with a tubular steel space frame chassis and GRP bodywork. A convertible version called the Ultima Can-Am is also produced. Cars are normally powered by former Chevrolet small block V8's supplied by American Speed, mated to either a Porsche or Getrag transaxle which is the factory recommended standard, and this configuration is fitted to all turnkey cars. Recently Ultima have focused their marketing efforts on record-breaking activities using a model equipped with a 640 bhp (477 kW) American Speed engine, which is called the Ultima GTR640, and subsequently, a 720 bhp (537 kW) engine which is called the GTR720. Due to a curb weight of just 990kg power from the 720bhp version equates to 727bhp per ton, though the Ultima chassis is rated for engines up to 1,000 bhp Shot at the Masters Historic Festival, Oulton Park 17:03:2012 Ref 82-251 .
