The new box card challenge is up. I really had no idea what to do with a floral theme until I just sat down and colored a bunch of flower images, then this card started forming in my head. I think I like it. Unfortunately, this stamp set is no longer available, but the idea doesn't care what flowers you use, so anything you like will work. I added a few bees, and the leaves are some of my favorites from yet another set (list below). Finally, the little girl patiently waiting to see her sister again, is from the new release set, Sittin Pretty by Birdie Brown for My Favorite Things. Folded flat to show how easy the box cards are to mail. Copics used for this card. Product List: My Favorite Things, Level Up box card dies (link also includes video for assembling) My Favorite Things, Outside the box grass dies My Favorite Things, Springtime Blooms stamps and dies (flowers and sentiment) *no longer available My Favorite Things, Main Squeeze (leaves) My Favorite Things, Meant to Bee (bees) *no longer available My Favorite Things, Sittin Pretty (girl) My Favorite Things, Sweet Succulents (heart) *no longer available My Favorite Things, Smooth White cardstock Copic, Xpress it blending card Copic, Sketch Markers Foam tape, acetate strips, wink of Stella clear (bees wings)
Hello Stampers, I got it done! That is the Pop Up Flower Box card and yes the video also. A few weeks ago I share Barb Capen card that she did for a challenge with our team and many request a video.
This style of fancy fold card has been "popping up" lately on Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube. I've enjoyed the many variations I've seen, but I was looking for directions to make a standard size card (4.25" x 5.50") with the simplest steps and technique to use. I liked Joy Tracey's YouTube video the best (thanks Joy!) I changed the sizing a bit to create mine as the standard size I was looking for. See instruction photos at the end of this post. I used the bright and cheerful colored papers from Little Dreamer, plus a sheet of Thistle and Lagoon cardstock. The "HUG" letters are from the word Laugh in the May Stamp of the Month Set ~ Live, Laugh, Love. I just used the last three letters and spelled HUG. "HUG" Flowers colored with Peony Purple, Pastel Green, Turquoise, Light Orange ShinHan Touch Twin markers. Leaves stamped on Lagoon cardstock, shade with Turquoise Blue marker. For a touch of sparkle, add some Clear Shimmer Brush and a Little Dreamer Glitter Gem or two! Isn't she the cutest? I colored her hair with the Clay marker and heart with Peony Purple marker. Skin is with a flesh colored pencil. Dress and cheeks are with a Bubble Gum CTMH Watercolor pencil. I added touches of shimmer to everything on the card with the Clear Shimmer Brush. LOVE it! D1711 True Love - Operation Smile Stamp Set $7 of every purchased stamp goes to Operation Smile! This set retires July 31, 2017. S1705 Live, Laugh, Love ~ May 2017 Stamp of the Month set Cut and score the pieces as shown. You can skip the scoring on the 2nd piece by folding it in half, then opening it and folding each end in to meet the your first fold in the center. Does the trick without the scoring time! Use a bone folder to get good crisp folds. This will help the Twist and Pop mechanism to work smoothly. NOTE: Adhere two patterned pieces 4" x 5 1/4" to the inside of your card base before attaching the pop out mechanism (house). See my card opened up at the top of page. Lay the 3" x 10" piece flat on top of the attached mechanism, lining up the center fold with the 2 1/8" markings. Fold back the two ends and add adhesive as shown. Carefully close the card and rub over the top to reinforce the folds. Open and close it a few times to ensure it works properly. Add 2 1/4" x 2 3/4" pieces of patterned paper to the 3" x 10" pop out piece. Decorate as desired. Other CTMH supplies used: Oval Thin Cuts Hearts Thin Cuts Bone Folder

I‘m in love with this fold-flat box card! I’m not sure who originated it, but I saw Barry Soriano demonstrate it and knew I had to make one—or two, or several! I couldn’t resist incorporating additional pop-up elements inside the box, and I’ll show you how to make one:Measurements-Blackberry Bliss cardstock • 10” (W) x 8-1/2” (H), scored at 2“, 3-1/2”, 6-1/2“, and 8” along the long side and at 1-1/2” from each edge along the short side • 9-1/2” (W) x 1-1/2” (H), scored at 2-1/8” and 6-1/4” alo

Hello! Thank you so much for visiting my blog! It's time for Kylie Bertucci's November International Blog Highlights contest, and I have made a special card for it. If you like it, I hope that you will vote for me! Please click on the button below to go to Kylie's blog, and vote by clicking on the top right corner of the thumbnail of my card (#3), until you see the heart turn red. Thank you so much for your support!! Oooohh!!! This card 3D was so much fun to make!! I have made a few double-box fun-fold cards (please see my October 4 and 14 blog posts), after being inspired by a card that Gail Ellis made. I modified Gail's measurements, and this one has a twist that I came up with myself--it's a triple-box card, which is also turned onto its side!! I wanted the fireplace to be "open" and set back a bit from the face of the card, making it a little more "realistic" than my October 14 blog card. It took some planning, but in the end it was quite easy (it just took me a long time to figure it out! 🙄). I am really happy with how it turned out, and I hope you like it, too!! I cut (but didn't assemble) the double-box pieces from Just Jade cardstock (bottom box: 9-3/8" x 4-1/4", scored along the long side at 3/8", 1-3/8", 2-7/8" and 3-7/8"; top box: 3-1/2” x 4-3/8", scored along the long side at 3/8" and 1-3/8"). I wiped the top side of the Brick & Mortar 3D embossing folder (the side with the Stampin' Up! logo) lightly with a Smoky Slate ink pad, then embossed a 3-3/8" x 2-7/8" piece of Basic White cardstock. This is how I coloured the mortar between the bricks. Pretty cool, hey? I glued the embossed white piece to the top box, and cut out the hole for the fireplace through both layers with a Stitched So Sweetly Die (without cutting the bottom curved part of the die--if you don't put cutting plates at that area, it won't cut). For the third box, which nests inside and becomes the inset fireplace, I cut some Basic Black cardstock (3" x 3-3/4", and scored it along the long side at 3/8", 1-1/8", 2-5/8", and 3-3/8". I die cut several seaweed shapes from the Smooth Sailing Dies in Mango Melody, Pumpkin Pie, and red and copper foil, cutting them and adding them with mini glue dots to the widest panel, which would become the front of the fireplace. I gave the mango and pumpkin "flames" a couple of coats of Wink of Stella, to give them some sparkle. It's hard to see in the photo, but the back of the fireplace is set back from the card front. Next, I folded all the score lines, and glued the fireplace to the top and bottom of the small box (inside the "bottom box" (the card base), at the bottom of the card). The top 3/8" of the black piece glues inside the 3/8" tab of Just Jade, and the other 3/8" tab of the black is adhered to the corner at the back (and bottom) of the card base--see the side photo above (it will make more sense). The Designer Series Paper (DSP) really does a lot of the work in this card! For the wallpaper, I adhered a 4" x 4-1/4" piece of striped Hand-Penned DSP to the bottom of the box, leaving an even margin of Just Jade cardstock at the top and sides. Then the 3/8" tab of the Just Jade bottom box is glued in place over the wallpaper. I fussy cut the plant pot and leaves (from Bloom Where You're Planted DSP), the cat and fishbowl (from Sweet Stockings DSP), and cut a piece of wood-type paper from In Good Taste (3-7/8" x 1-7/8", scored along the short side (so parallel to the long side) at 1-1/4", 1-1/2", and 1-5/8") to make a mantle. I glued this piece to the top (the 1" panel) of the Just Jade upper box, folding the edges down and under to form the front of the mantle. The upper box is then glued to the card base. The plant leaves, pot, cat, and fish bowl were all attached with Stampin' Dimensionals to the wallpaper, just above the mantle. The sentiment, from the Many Messages stamp, was cut with the Messages Die, and adhered to the wallpaper. And look!! This 3D card folds flat to fit in a regular envelope!! Hello crafty friends! Today I wanted to share with you a fun castle-themed Box Card featuring both the Once Upon a Time and Knight in Shining Armor stamp sets from My Favorite Things. I made this box card for the daughter of a friend of mine. I love making box cards for kids because they just love the 3D components of the card. I began by first creating the box base of my card. I follow this tutorial from Splitcoaststampers when I want a box card that is slightly larger than some of those that come in die sets. Once finished, I then trim the bottom portion of the box so that the bottom sides are the same length as the flaps etc. That's just my personal preference, so it's definitely not a necessary step! Once I had my box built, I then began to build my castle. To do this, I used the Die-Namics Castle Die Set, also by My Favorite Things. This die set is so cute! I mean...it's REALLY cute! I cut out my castle on light grey cardstock and then used the MFT English Brick Wall Stencil with slightly darker grey ink to make my bricks. I then die cut some flags and tower tops from pink cardstock and then put it all together around the base of the box to resemble an actual castle. I diecut some grass using the MFT Die-Namics Grassy Fields on green cardstock and then glued the pieces around the base of my castle walls. I then added a few cute flowers on the side (also from the Once Upon a Time Stamp & Die Set). Once my castle was complete, I then glued all of my images to either the inside shelves or outside portion of the box. For the butterflies and one of the clouds, I used some clear acetate to attach them to look as if they were floating in the sky. All of my images were stamped with Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers. As you can see, this card folds up nicely and will fit into a 5X7 envelope. Because the flags are a bit fragile, I will probably add some thick pieces of cardstock on either side of my card to protect it. I will be entering this card into the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes. Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes Thank you all for dropping by! If you liked this card and want some more crafty inspiration, don't forget to check out my INSTAGRAM feed! Wishing you all a lovely day! ♥ Rachel
