Looking for a fun interactive teaching idea for five senses? Well look no further as 5 Senses Sorting Puzzles, will serve as an exciting lesson plan for Kindergarten elementary school classrooms. This is a great resource to incorporate into your unit as a science center rotation, review game exercise, small group work morning work, remediation, intervention or rti. It can also be used as a quiz, drill, test, or assessment tool to help determine student mastery of the learning target. Whether a student is homeschooled or given this as a homework assignment, kids will also love working on these at home to improve their skills. This puzzle set includes 20 colorful jigsaw puzzles, answer key, and an optional station instruction page with an example. These come as pdf printable sheets that can be printed on card stock and laminated for long-term use. As a suggestion, store them in a sealable gallon storage bag and place them in a tub or bin for students to use throughout the year for enrichment when they finish early. Another idea, for a project, is students can glue the completed puzzles into a notebook or journal as a reference sheet. They can also be glued on a poster for displaying on a bulletin board or as a wall anchor chart. To solve the puzzles, students will match the five senses word with the picture of an object and the body part that uses that sense. Your students will love to practice and learn about the 5 senses (see, hear, smell, taste, and touch) with this product! I hope you download and enjoy this engaging hands-on activity with your students! So set those worksheets aside and give our puzzles a try! This is another 5-senses activity. We did 10 different materials, ranging from feathers to sandpaper and everything in between. We had the kids feel each piece of material and then had them glue them onto the hands. We asked the kids to describe the material and what if felt like to them. I LOVE the answers that we got from some of the kids. My own little girl, had some that made me crack up. The sandpaper felt like Poppa's face, the fake leather felt like a couch and one of them felt like her dog Brody. It was fun to hear their answers. Fabric stores are great to look for material for this project. A remnant can go a long way when your talking about 1 inch pieces. Also look at the craft supplies and hardware stores. We used sponges and Brillo pads, the possibilities are endless.
Whew! The weeks are just flying by! I missed posting my plans for last week...sorry. But here is what is happening in the Emerald City this week! We are prepping for our yearly trip to the Pumpkin Patch by studying pumpkins (parts and life cycle) before we have our adventure! I was thrilled with how much my kids knew about pumpkins yesterday as we began our GLAD inquiry chart. Today, I will be creating an Input chart with them using realia photos and color blocking to aid their comprehension (pictures to be added ASAP). Come Link Up with other great bloggers to see what is in store this week in their classrooms, as well! I have included links to other printables that I will be using this week and they are FREE for you too!
