Opened in 1882 to by-pass the conjested Whitehall Junction, it formed the main LNW passenger route in and out of Leeds City, this image shows the start of the substantial viaduct the ran across the suburbs of Holbeck towards Farnley Junction and the Gildersome Tunnel. The Erie Lackawanna Railway was formed through the Erie and Lackawanna railroads in 1960.
North British Type 2 diesel hydraulic No. D6320 stabled at Gloucester Horton Road MPD on 25th November 1969. The loco was new from Glasgow in March 1960 and first allocated to Laira (83D). It was named 'Lister' in January 1967 and evidence of the name can be seen in the photograph. Withdrawn from Bristol Bath Road (82A) in May 1971, it was cut-up at Swindon Works during June 1972.
Diesel hydraulic heaven at Bristol Bath Road MPD on 14th August 1968 as green-liveried Type 2 No. D6323 is joined by green D6311, a red 'Warship' and a red 'Western' awaiting their next duties. New from the North British Locomotive Company, Glasgow, in April 1960 and first allocated to Laira (83D), it was withdrawn in May 1971 and cut up at Swindon Works during August 1972.
