Hello! Happy Saturday and Happy World Cardmaking Day!! Today is the first post for my new Saturday card series. The idea for this card series is based on the One Sheet Wonder idea. Never heard of a One Sheet Wonder? Well, you start with one sheet of Designer Series Paper and make multiple cards quickly and easily. I wanted to take that one step further and combine that with fun folds making the cards even more interesting. Over the next 7 weeks, we are going to make 15 different cards using 10 different folding techniques. I tried to make the folds simple enough that you just need a paper trimmer and score board (only one uses some circle punches, but can be easily adapted if you don't have those punches). These cards are going to feature the Park Lane Designer Series Paper from the 2014-15 Annual Catalog. My focal paper is the floral paper. I did add a second sheet of paper of DSP from that pack to coordinate. The card bases are Sahara Sand cardstock. I have done all the measuring for you and have prepared cutting diagrams to help you get the most from your cardstock and DSP. If you want to work ahead, you can cut the cardstock and DSP and label them with the letter on the diagram. Then sort them by letter so you have all the pieces you need for assembling each card. I also have some general directions for all cards as well as specific directions for each card - including the folding technique. Here are first two cards: Card A - Gate Fold Card Card base: 1. Start with a card base cut 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" 2. Score at 2 3/4" and 7" 3. Fold on the score lines toward the center. 4. Add DSP. 5. Arrange two coordinating sentiments vertically over the seam of the gate fold. Place dimensional adhesive on the left side of the top sentiment and the right side of the bottom sentiment. Adhere to card. Card B - Standard Side Fold Card base: 1. Start with a card base cut 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" 2. Score at 4 1/4" 3. Fold in half on the score line. 4. Embellish! I've been wanting to create a One Sheet Wonder Template to make 4 cards from a 6 x 6 inch piece of DSP. This allows me to make a R2G Card kit with one sheet of 12x12 inches DSP. Well here it is! Again, it makes the most of the DSP with very little waste. The 4" square is cut corner to corner creating 2 triangles. Note: The 1/2 inch accent strip for the card with a triangle needs to be at least 6" long. The card layouts allow for wide and/or tall ones. The DSP can be placed on the left or right hand sides of the card when placing the rectangular pieces. Check the next posting for the cards I created with this OSW Template.

Hello crafty friends! Today I am sharing how to use up 6x6 patterned papers without creating any patterned paper scraps. A friend shared that this style of cardmaking can be referred to as a one sheet wonder. I'm not sure who originated the style, as I have seen many crafters refer to it, but please let me know if I should be crediting a specific crafter. Today I am sharing how to cut up a 6x6 piece of paper that will result in 2 of the exact same card. However in order to mix up the patterns because this is single sided paper I am cutting 2 sheets for a total of 4 cards. I am using cardstock to mat the patterned paper pieces which will create some cardstock scraps. In the video I share some ideas of what to do with those scraps. In this blog post you can find a template for how to cut your paper as well as a sketch to show what should be done with those cuts. Of course feel free to mix it up to your own liking. Today I am sharing a Double Wonder Sheet Wonder projects. I have made 7 variations of these cards and have to say it is quick and easy!

Card #13 Card #14 I had a request to post a picture of all of these cards together so after I scheduled this post, I took a picture of 13. I've already used one but it pretty much the same layout as the first one in the second row. It was a "Thank You" card that I sent along with a customer's order. And now you have been able to see all 14 cards made from one sheet of 12 x 12 designer paper. The only wasted piece measured 1/4" x 1 1/4". In total I have done nearly 40 cards using this method. Another one was supposed to be this same set of cuts but I messed up and only got 13 cards. I have trimmed some of them a bit differently and will be posting them a little later. The third sheet I cut using a different layout for some different looks and will be showing some of them as well a little later. I hope you will think about giving this a try. It really feels good to use up some of those beautiful designer papers.

I've been working on OSW (One Sheet Wonder) Template for 12"x12" Double-sided DSP and made sample cards for my OWH cardmaking group. I have a class tomorrow for them to create OWH card kits. I came up with this basic template to make eight cards along with several variations that you can make more out of it. You will need to first cut in 5"x12", the second cut in 5"x12" and the rest will be 2"x12". Then go by the cutting diagram. This is a draft that you will see my handwriting after many whiteouts. I will work on my computer to get nicer drawing. Tip: Punch out the focal image mat from the base layer that will be covered by dsp anyway. Hope this will give some inspiration whoever wants to try. I did research a while ago for One Sheet Wonder plans. For me I had hoped to find the cutting plan and the card layouts to go with it. There were a few who included both pieces. I was working on Christmas cards so repetition was okay with me. My kits are 12 cards so I wanted a cutting plan that produced 3 cards per 6 x 6 sheet. Here's my inspiration posted by Sharon. I believe the card layouts are very versatile because the cards can be assembled wide or tall. The designer paper is double sided so you may be able to turn the paper around and get another look. With the layers all being the same color, it cuts down on the complexity when cutting and stamping. I suppose if one color would do across DSP designs that would be better. Maybe black, grey, and some of the neutrals may work for several DSP designs. I will put that in my thinking cap. I'm really happy with how my kits turned out. I am posting another in the next post. The greetings are cut to 2.75" with an accent layer of 3 inches.

What you may ask is one sheet wonder. That's when you take one sheet of designer series paper and cut it into pieces and then use those pieces to make a set of cards. This sample uses only 1/4 sheet of designer series paper so I guess it's a quarter sheet wonder. First, here is the layout of how to cut up the quarter sheet of paper. And here are two sets of cards made using the paper. This first set used a piece of Birthday Bouquet DSP. I love the pastel colors in this set of cards. Very feminine. This second set of cards used a sheet of Cherry on Top DSP. This quarter sheet design works great with this paper because the paper stack is already 6 X 6. These cards are very bright and cheery. Great for kids. One thing that you probably can't see in the pictures is that I used an embossing folder on all the cards. Did you notice that the card with the three little squares is a little different than the one in the first set? The design on this paper is definitely directional so I had to turn the paper so that the balloons are still going up in the air. Be sure to try this sometime. The cards were really easy and fast to make. It took longer to decide what color card stock to use than it did to make the cards.

Here's a great way to make up to 14 cards using one sheet of 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (One Sheet Wonder). Here's a couple photos of all the cards made using 2 different patterns of the Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper. This first set are the cards we made in the video tutorial. I worked up another One Sheet Wonder for 6x6 DSP. This one again has 3 different card layouts. You start with a 6 x 6 inch piece of DSP. You cut into 3 pieces of 2" tall and 5.5" wide. Following the card layouts you can make 3 cards in a jiffy. Of course, making multiples of three in different papers allows you to quickly make cards for any occasions.
