I know it's still August, but I love sewing with Christmas Fabric year round ... it always makes me happy! I seriously love all of Sweetwater's Christmas Collections and their latest - The Christmas Card is fabulous! Let me share what I made with (9) Mini Charm Packs ! I love the new FREE pattern: Mini Charm Muffins Quilt designed by Fat Quarter Shop! The original pattern calls for 34.5" x 34.5" quilt, but I wanted mine a bit bigger so I made 9 blocks instead of 4. I must share a close up of the Moda Grunge Grey Couture Fabric ... love love love! Mini Charm Muffins Quilt Supplies: * 50.5" x 50.5" (9 blocks) Mini Charm Muffins Quilt Pattern - free (333) 2.5" squares = 8 or 9 Mini Charm Packs - The Christmas Card designed by Sweetwater for Moda Fabrics 2 yards background fabric - Moda Grunge Grey Couture 1/2 yard binding - The Christmas Card Charcoal Scallop 3.25 yards backing fabric Sulky Blendables Thread 733-4121 The Mini Charm Muffins Quilt pattern is perfect for your stash of 2.5" squares or you can easily cut your charm packs or layer cakes to 2.5" squares too! Does any one else "collect" mini charm packs??? Use a Creative Grids Stripology Ruler or your AccuQuilt GO! to quickly cut 2.5" squares from your stash! Lately, I've been loving machine quilting with Sulky Blendables Thread. I used Sulky 30 wt Blendables Rhubarb 733-4121 - I love this variegated thread! The 30wt also makes the machine quilting stand out more. Since it is a thicker thread, I recommend using a 90/14 top stitch needle or 100/16 top stitch needle. If you find that your thread breaks while free motion quilting, please make sure you are using the correct size topstitch needle plus a drop of Sewer's Aid on the eye of the needle can be helpful too! Isn't that variegation so lovely?!?!? It randomly changes colors every 2-5"! You can find the thread at Sulky (here). When binding my quilts, I love using a striped fabric so the scallops striped print (The Christmas Card Charcoal Scallop) was perfect!!! I'm so excited to have a brand new quilt ready for Christmas this year!!! I'm thinking this one will be added to my family room quilt collection now because I just love it and can't wait until December! Seriously loving my new Hexi Zipper Pouch I made with the October Maxie Mail Subscription Box! I love these gorgeous Art Gallery Fabrics!!! The colors are perfect for autumn! Plus I always love a deer print!!! I loved learning a new way of making hexies with liquid starch -- so genius! Plus Maxie made 3 videos this month 1- Sewing the full zipper pouch 2 - English Paper Piecing 3 -Making the Hexi Zipper Pull. Let's chat more about the October Maxie Mail Box- EVERYTHING is included in your October Maxie Mail Box to make your Hexi Zipper Pouch PLUS a full video tutorial. So don't worry if this your first time with English Paper Piecing or installing a zipper---Maxie makes it easy! What’s inside your box: Art Gallery Fabrics from Bonnie Christine’s Sweet as Honey Collection and Pat Bravo’s Artisan Collection Pellon SF101 Shape-Flex Fusible Interfacing Hugs ’n Kisses fusible, water soluble 1” hexagons Best Press Spray Starch Alternative Paint Brush Foxglove Cottage Straw Needles - Size 10 Gutermann thread for pouch assembly Super Thread’s Bottom Line bobbin thread for EEP and appliqué 14” zipper and zipper pull hardware Tea What you will learn: English Paper Piecing (EPP) Invisible Applique´ Zipper installation with zipper tabs Finished lining Boxed Corners Making a Zipper Pull Working with fusible stabilizers I loved learning how to make hexies with liquid starch! I will definitely make hexies like this again! I left the fusible hexagons "in" my project. Since I added 2 more hexies to my pouch, I used the traditional paper hexies for the extra, which came out super easy with the starch method! What I love about English Paper Piecing is that you can sew them together anywhere. My daughter and I watched a movie while I hand stitched! Super Thread’s Bottom Line bobbin thread is the BEST and makes your stitches invisible- even with the whipstitch. I was trying to decide if I wanted to hand stitch my hexies to my pouch OR machine stitch them??? I went with quilting them down, which I love! I used the included Gutermann thread for the machine stitching down. The Hexi Zipper Pouch is a good size pouch (10" x 12") so I added a wrist strap! I love the convenience of a wrist strap as I'm planning on using this Hexi Zipper Pouch LOTS! I seriously LOVE it! My corners are actually boxed (not rounded), it's just hard to tell as I have the pouch laying down instead of standing up ;). Here's a little peek on the inside - I enjoy receiving my Maxie Mail Subscription Box each month! I love how she always teaches us a new technique and includes the supplies to make the project! It is truly a "class in a box". They are great for anyone who loves sewing and quilting! I love how I can take a class right in my home! Plus the projects are always useful and beautiful! Hello friends! I hope you love bags and even more BAGS because today I'm sharing NINE bags I made with Lori Holt's newest collection: My Happy Place! This fabulous new collection is a home decor/canvas weight fabric for Riley Blake Designs. I'm not sure how they do it, but it is a soft feeling canvas and I LOVE it! You may be thinking NINE BAGS ... is that a bit much... NOPE! I made lots of different styles, which was so fun! I will chat a bit about each style. Pepin Tote - My Happy Place Supplies: Click on links below Pepin Tote Pattern - by NoodleHead 1 yard Exterior- My Happy Place Pincushion Fabric designed by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Designs 1/3 yard Handles - My Happy Place Pins Fabric designed by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Designs 2/3 yard Interior - Bee Basics designed by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Designs 2 1/2 yards (must be at least 20" in width) - Pellon SF101 interfacing 15mm (5/8") metal snap for front pocket 20" Zipper for recessed Zipper closure I love being able to add metal snaps to my projects...I think the detail looks fabulous and is so useful. I ordered this affordable set of metal snaps from Amazon HERE. They are great! Plus that cute tomato pin cushion label/tag .... it's from the My Happy Place Zippy Bag Panel. I'm a big fan of adding zippers to my bags. I like to keep everything secure and safe! I do recommend the YKK brand of zippers as they are fabulous. I used the larger purse size #4.5 zippers with long zipper pull for this tote.... they are my favorite. I order my zippers from Amazon HERE. I chose to make my own Pepin Tote straps because I thought the pin fabric was perfect! I cut my fabric (2) 6" x WOF - lined with Pellon SF101. Folded the fabric to the middle and then folded again to create 1.5" width of fabric strip for the handles. Topstitch both side of the handle to secure the folded fabric - plus the stitching is a great detail! Zippy Bags and MORE Zippy Bags The next EIGHT project bags are all from the My Happy Place Home Decor Zippy Bags Panel... this is seriously an amazing panel! Of course, Lori Holt has included instructions on how to make Zippy Bags...but I wanted to challenge myself and make a variety of bags using the panel! I had SEW much fun!!! Supplies: click on links below My Happy Place Home Decor Zippy Bags Panel designed by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Designs (8) Zippers. I chose to use the YKK Purse #4.5 Zippers for the larger bags and the regular #3 zippers for the smaller bags. Lining fabric - I used a variety of Lori Holt fabrics 1/2 yard bag handles - My Happy Place Home Decor Pin Fabric Lori Holt Enamel Zipper Charms Lori Holt Vintage Trim Pellon SF101 Interfacing Larger Zippy Bags with Binding and Handles I love this style for the larger Zippy Bags! I used left over batting and quilted both the front and backing of the bags. The bags bags are fully lined with no raw edge seams...yay! I added binding and a handle and love it! The handles are helpful when taking your Zippy Bags on the go! Let me know if you would like a tutorial on this style of Project Bag. Large and Small Zippy Bags - lined with no exposed seams This style of Zippy Bags is similar to the directions on the panel except I added a lining and have no exposed seams plus added a handle to the larger bag! I really love adding a fun lining fabric to my bags so this was perfect! I also added (1) layer of Pellon SF101 to the exterior fabric of the smaller bags to give my bags a bit more thickness. For the larger bag, I quilted the exterior fabric with left over batting and added a handle! The label/tags included on the panel are AWESOME! I love them so much! They are such the perfect detail to add to your Zippy Bag! Let me know if you would like a tutorial on this style of project bag...fully lined with NO exposed seams. Zippy Bag with Lori Holt Vintage Trim For this adorable Zippy Bag - I added Lori Holt Vintage trim...love love love! This Zippy Bag is fully lined plus Pellon SF101 added to exterior fabric with no exposed seams and has a zipper on the top! It was fun to change up the look! I love this "happiness is handmade" illustration ....with all of my sewing must have tools! Hmmm...maybe Lori could make this into a cross stitch design?!?!? Let me know if you would like a tutorial on this style of project bag...fully lined with NO exposed seams. Zippy Bag - French Seam My final Zippy Bag today follows the included panel directions except I chose to make French Seams so I wouldn't have exposed seams. This simple bag is unlined and has no interfacing. I absolutely LOVED making all the bags and I'm so excited to star using them for my projects!!! Let me know your favorite style of Zippy Bag and if you would be interested in a tutorial on how I made it! Hi Friends! Today I'm sharing a tutorial on making a Vinyl Project Bag on the Janome Blog and here too! I absolutely love Vinyl Project bags as they are perfect for storing sewing/quilting/cross stitch/ embroidery projects PLUS they are perfect for travel and for kiddos to store all of their treasures. The vinyl front makes it easy to know what is inside your bag... plus no raw fabric seams! I will be creating this project on my Janome M7 - which is SEW fabulous! I've been sewing on this machine for almost 3 years and I love how easy it is to use and it stitches beautifully. Tutorial - Vinyl Project Bag 14.5" x 14.5" Supplies 2 Fat Quarters = (1) Bag Front, (1) Bag Back 1/2 Yard = Zipper Fabric, Handle, Binding 14.5" x 14.5" Vinyl (I prefer 16 gauge) 16" Nylon Zipper 16" x 16" Scrap Batting OR Soft n Stable OR Pellon Fusible Fleece Wonderclips Optional - Wonder Tape 1/4" (double sided adhesive) * Cookbook Fabric Designed by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Designs * Zipper by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Designs Cutting Bag Front (1) 16" x 16" Bag Back (1) 16" x 16" Batting (1) 16" x 16" - If I want my bag to have a bit more support I will use (2) layers of batting - this makes it similar to Soft n Stable, but I can use my batting scraps Vinyl (1) 14.5" x 14.5" Zipper Fabric Bottom (1) 3" x 14.5" Zipper Fabric Top (1) 2" x 14.5" Handle (1) 4" x 9" Binding (2) 2.5" x 40"WOF Bag Assembly 1. Layer and adhere all 3 layers together. I prefer to use Odif 505 basting spray to hold my layers together. Bag Front Fabric - right side facing up (TOP) Batting (MIDDLE) Bag Back Fabric - right side facing down (BOTTOM) 2. Quilt as desired. I chose straight-line quilting 2" apart. I marked my quilting lines using a Hera Marker. I'm using the Janome 9mm AcuFeed Foot with Single Holder with stitch length 3.5. 3. TRIM quilted Bag Front/Batting/Bag Back to 14.5" x 14.5" 4. Make Double Fold Binding (Zipper Bottom Fabric 3" x 14.5") Iron Fabric in half to create a crease line in center of fabric strip Bring fabric edge to center crease line and press Repeat with other side 5. Place vinyl into the double fold binding to enclose vinyl edge. Use wonder clips to hold vinyl inside. 6. Top stitch along fabric edge to secure to vinyl. I like to use the Zipper Foot attachment for the AcuFeed Foot with Single Foot Holder and stitch length 2.4. Screen shot below of Janome M7 screen 7. Place Vinyl with Double Fold Binding on top of the bottom of Zipper Tape. I like to use double-sided Wonder Tape to hold the zipper in place. 8. Topstitch Vinyl with Double Fold Binding to Zipper Tape. 9. Single Fold Binding with Fabric Zipper Top (2" x 14.5"). Iron fabric together in half (wrong sides together). Place folded crease on top of zipper. Make sure it is lined up with previously attached Vinyl Fabric Binding. Trim off excess zipper ends - be sure zipper pull is in middle of bag so you don't accidentally trim off zipper pull. 10. TRIM bottom of vinyl of Vinyl Bag Front with zipper attached to 14.5" x 14.5". 11. Place Vinyl Bag Front on top of Quilted Bag Back. Use Wonder Clips to hold together. Sew together with a 1/8" seam allowance. (A small seam allowance is used so stitching line will be hidden in binding). 12. Bag Handle (Cut size 4" x 9". Finished size 1" x 9") Iron Fabric in half to create a crease line in center of fabric strip Bring fabric edge to center crease line and press Repeat with other side Fold closed so raw edges are hidden. Handle measures 1" x 9" Top stitch both sides of bag handle. 13. Sew bag handle to back side of Vinyl Project Bag. Mine is attached 5.5" from bag sides. Oops - I forgot to take a picture of this step before I added binding. Attach your handle BEFORE binding as the binding will secure the handle and hide the raw edges. 14. Bind as desired. I prefer to completely machine bind my projects. Machine Binding Tutorial HERE I hope you had fun making your Vinyl Project Bag! I simply grabbed my Sewers Club box and iPad mini (to watch the video), sat down to my sewing machine, and started sewing! Tips for making your Simple Sailor Toiletry Bag: Read the pattern - fully colored with well drawn illustrations! Watch the video - The video will walk you through each step so your project will be successful! Perfect for beginner and experienced sewers. Use a walking/evenfeed foot. Perfect for the quilting and attaching the binding. Use a 90/14 needle - the seams are thick when attaching the interior binding so the larger needle is great! When attaching the binding - stitch slooooow so you don't break a needle. Another binding hint - at the very end of the pattern when attaching the binding by the zipper - fold AWAY from the zipper. I used the ENTIRE spool of Gutermann thread for this project (the dense cross hatch quilting takes A LOT of thread) I LOVE the added cross hatch quilting on the bag exterior...it did take awhile and LOTS of thread, but definitely worth it! My lines are about 1/2" apart...I just used the edge of my walking foot to measure the spacing. Of course you need a picture of the inside! I flipped the bag inside out so you can see the interior more clearly. No raw edges- the bag interior is completely finished! The Simple Sailor Toiletry Bag was so fun to make and I can't wait to start using it!!! I just love using handmade projects!!! I can't wait to see what the Sewers Club July Project will be! FREE shipping in USA and Canada Sewing Tips: The included Primavera Fabrics in your Sewers Club box are cut the same size so choose your favorite print to be your exterior fabric. I chose to machine quilt rectangles 1.25" x 2.5"on my exterior fabric. I recommend FIRST fusing the Fusible Fleece to the exterior fabric, QUILT desired pattern, THEN cut the fabric per pattern cutting directions. Don't forget to leave the zipper open at least half-way before sewing pouch sides and bottom. You will use the open zipper to turn your pouch right side out. On the final step - boxing the pouch corners - I recommend to backstitch on start and end when sewing along the marked line. The backstitch will make sure your seam is secure. I really loved making this stylish and useful pouch! I can't wait to see the project for the May Sewers Club Box! Click HERE to join Sewers Club and SAVE $5 on your Sewers Club Box. It's Throw-Back Thursday--- so I'm sewing along with the Fat Quarter Shop Project Remix. We are sewing the Simple Zipper Bag! I always LOVE a zipper bag --- so of course I needed two! Plus patchwork was a must for my bags. Supplies: (1) Mini Charm Pack - Smitten by Bonnie & Camille 1/2 yard for binding 1/2 yard for backing and interior Soft & Stable Handbag Zipper I altered the pattern just a bit--- I sewed patchwork for the entire front of my bag. I just love patchwork! Plus I could use more of those cute 2.5" mini charm squares...no fabric waste/left overs here! One Mini Charm Pack gives you enough 2.5" squares to make both bags! So I separated out my squares into bright florals and low-volume. I LOVE both of the bags! Want a peek inside my bags....love the bit of quilting that shows! Grab your fabric, watch the video, and sew your Simple Zipper Bags. Yes... you do need to sew the zipper pulls--- LOVE! Be sure to follow me on Instagram @mellierc and here on my A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog for more sewing fun! Happy Sewing!!! Melanie

When Jodie at Fort Worth Fabric Studio asked if I wanted to sew the sample quilt for the Scrappy Spool Kit....I was like....YES! Patchwork squares plus dots, stripes, and floral fabrics makes me so happy! I love happy sewing! Scrappy Spool Kit Contents (video at end of post) - Kits available at Fort Worth Fabric Studio here Amorette Charm Pack from Wilmington White background & black dot fabric 2 Easy Piecing Grids by TenSisters (2" Finished) Backing fabric (Bonnie & Camille Moda 55161-15) Binding fabric (Bonnie & Camille Moda 55168-14) Scrappy Spool Pattern by Carmen of TenSisters Handicraft - The kit includes ALL the fabric for quilt top, binding, AND backing! Ready for some hints to sew your own Scrappy Spool Quilt - 31.5" X 39.25" Let's get sewing. 1. Per pattern and cutting guide- Cut your fabrics into 2.5" squares. Sew (8) half-square triangles. 2. Place 2.5" squares onto grid interfacing. Note the small gap (that is okay and will be in the sewn seam). I only placed enough squares on the interfacing that would fit on my ironing board. Then iron/fuse into place. Repeat. 3. To attach second section of interfacing- align grid lines and use a washable glue stick (I just used Elmer's school glue stick) to hold them together. Continue adding squares and iron/fuse sections together. 4. Fold and sew with a 1/4" seam. Sew all seams one direction - then snip and sew all seams the other direction. Be sure to watch the videos by TenSisters - here. 5. Look at all the perfect seams that match!!! Yay!!! 6. Quilt and bind. I would recommend simple quilting as there is a bit of bulk with the seams with fabric and grid interfacing. I chose to stipple mine. This Bonnie & Camille bias stripe fabric for the binding is perfect! Time to enjoy your Scrappy Spool Quilt!!!! I wanted to share some extra pictures that shows the super cute binding and backing fabrics that are included in the kit! I loved sewing my Scrappy Spool Quilt! Plus I loved learning a new sewing technique- grid patchwork interfacing- it is magic sewing for perfect seams!!! Be sure to purchase your Scrappy Spook Kit here at Fort Worth Fabric Studio before they sell out! Don't forget the kit includes everything for the Quilt Top, Binding, and Backing! I love a kit that is complete so you can just start sewing! Opening kit video (the kit also includes the backing- which isn't shown in the video) Be sure to follow me on Instagram @mellierc and here on my A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog for more sewing fun! I can't believe it is almost 2018!!!! This year I am trying something new to keep my everyday and quilty life organized...The 2018 Quilter's Planner!!! I'm so excited to do this!!! Plus the included Pattern Magazine is awesome!!! More about the awesome Quilter's Planner at end of post (including a video). Goals: 1. Finish my WIPs...I cannot just work one project! I see a new quilt-along that I must join (anyone else do this???), new fabric or patterns are released, or I just want to start something new :) 2. Try new free motion quilting patterns. Currently, I am the stippling queen....time to branch out! 3. Purchase Electric Quilt 8 and start designing patterns...eek this makes me nervous! 4. Open an Etsy Store to sell my finished products....eek this also makes me nervous! I tend not to make exact quilty goals because I love finishing a project that I LOVE! I don't like feeling pressured that I must finish a certain quilt because I pre-assigned it to a particular month. Sewing/quilting is my creative and relaxing time....so I love to sew what makes me happy! More about the Quilter's Planner and how it will help me meet my goals and be more organized! Hi Quilty friends! Today on the AccuQuilt Blog (HERE)... I'm going to share some helpful tips on how to fussy cut your fabric PLUS a technique to perfectly cut pattern fabric using your AccuQuilt! What is "fussy cutting"? It is when you choose to cut a specific pattern/object from your fabric. I absolutely love to fussy cut my fabric! I especially love to fussy cut the center of my blocks as it adds so much interest to your project! I love to fussy cut my fabric AND use my AccuQuilt so be sure to check out my full blog post on the AccuQuilt Blog (HERE) including a little "how to" make your own 6" Sawtooth Star blocks AND a 18" Sawtooth Star Pillow. Me, GO!, or GO! Big - GO! Qube Mix & Match 6" Block - Pattern fabric for fussy cutting. *I used I Spy Panel (Spring) by Ann Kelle - (9) 10" squares for star points *I used Modern Classics by Violet Craft - 1/2 yard white background fabric - 3/4 yard backing fabric - 22" x 22" batting - 1/4 yard binding OR use leftover fabric from 10" squares to create a pieced binding - 18" pillow insert Click here for the Tips for Fussy Cutting With AccuQuilt Blog Post HERE (plus Sawtooth Pattern/pillow) Many of the projects I create include fussy cutting a particular object and/or cutting my fabric so the fabric pattern is straight in my blocks. This is super important for stripe, plaid, and select pattern designs as the lines will appear wonky if not cut correctly. Having well cut fabric makes a HUGE difference for your finished project, which is why I love my AccuQuilt dies! Below are some recent projects that I was careful to align the fabric pattern with the cutting edge of the die before cutting. You can click on the die name to see which die(s) I used. GO! Fat Quarter Ferris Wheel Quilt is a free pattern at Fat Quarter Shop and features large blocks that show off fabric prints so nicely! It is such a fun quilt to make!!! After all, a Ferris Wheel quilt should be totally fun to make! Hi, all! It's time for another scrappy post, but today I am driving to Savannah, GA for QuiltCon 2017 - I'm so excited! - so I'm just going to share some inspiration with you today. First of all, I want to be sure you have a chance to see this fabulous post by Kat of Kat & Cat Quilts. If you don't know Kat already, she is the brains behind Covered In Love, which was one of our Hands2Help charities last year. She is also, by choice, a scrappy quilter, and she has a great idea for using up some of those precious small scraps that we hoard... Bookmarks! What a great idea! Her technique is very simple and you can read all about it here. And here are some pretties I've seen on Pinterest this week - lovely quilts one and all! Isn't this a cool way to do a charm quilt? I love the focus point the white squares give this one... And I have long wanted to do a bookshelf quilt, but wasn't willing to commit to the "realistic" look - and yet I really love the way this one looks! Less realism, but still gets its point across! And oh, the color!! I love the background color in these next two - grays can make all those beautiful scraps really POP! And this one just makes me smile! You can make this using either four mini-charm packs, or by cutting one regular charm pack in to quarters - a great way to use up that random charm pack you've got sitting in your stash! You can find the links for all of these quilts and more on my "Oh Scrap!" Pinterest page - click here to go there! So - - - do you feel inspired now? I'm thinking about taking my sewing machine with me to Savannah - wonder if I'll have time to do any sewing??? Hugs! Sarah
Hi Janome Friends! It's Melanie Call from A Bit of Scrap Stuff Blog and Instagram. Today I'm sharing my Charmed Pillow Project that I created with my Janome M17. Perhaps you are like me and have lots of 5" Charm Packs / Stackers in your fabric collection and aren't quite sure what to make when you only have One 5" Charm Pack/Stacker. I'm helping you solve that fabric dilemma today. With just one 5" Charm Pack /Stacker you are able to make two Charmed Pillows (front panels) and they coordinate perfectly!!! I absolutely love making pillows as they are a quick and affordable project! I used one Lighthearted Charm pack by Camille Roskelley for Moda Fabrics to create both Charmed Pillows. For the Charmed Pillow: Option A ... I used only the red/pinks/white fabrics from the Lighthearted Charm Pack to create an ombre design with fabrics . I absolutely love it! For Charmed Pillow: Option B, I used the aqua, green, and white prints. I arranged the fabrics in a different layout to create a more scrappy looking pillow. I love that I was able to make 2 coordinating pillows using one charm pack! Ready to make your own Charmed Pillows - Charmed Pillow 18" x 18" Supplies For (1) Pillow: Charmed Pillow: PDF Pattern (here) (12) 5” x 5” squares. Label A (8) 2.75” x 5” rectangles. Hello! Today is Week 6 and FINAL week of the Charming Baby Sew Along with Fat Quarter Shop. This week we are sewing together our quilt top and backing - yay!!! I just love sewing together sampler quilts! It's so fun to create a quilt with lots of block sizes! The Charming Baby Quilts Sampler Quilt is HUGE at 66.5" x 88.5" (a very generous twin size)...perfect for snuggling! Luckily I was able to take a photo on stairs so you could see the full quilt! Of course a close up picture is needed so you can see the cuteness of the Farm Charm fabric-- the farm animals! Farm Charm Collection: For my Charming Baby Sew Along Quilt, I used the Farm Charm Collection by Gingiber for Moda Fabrics. I love her illustrations and these farm animals are just too cute! Seriously look at the horses, sheep, and chickens!!!! Total cuteness overload :) Quilt Front: I just love all the different blocks and sizes! The quilt has so much interest and is fun to look at! Plus you can search for the cute farm animals! Quilt Backing: I used a layer cake of Farm Fresh by Gingiber (an older collection, but coordinates so well with Farm Charm) to create a pieced backing! It's a double sided quilt now PLUS I used my stash so BONUS! Charming Baby Sew Along Suplies: Click on links below Charming Baby Quilts Book by Melissa Corry (5) Charm Packs - I chose Farm Charm by Gingiber 5 3/4 yards Background fabric - Moda Fabrics Silky Bella Zen Grey 7/8 yard Binding - I chose Farm Charm by Gingiber 5 1/4 yards Backing - OR I used Farm Fresh Layer Cake plus extra Moda Fabrics Silky Bella Zen Grey Fat Quarter Shop Blog to download this week's pattern (here) Sewing Tips for the Charming Baby Quilts blocks: When using directional fabrics, make sure your fabric pattern is the correct direction before cutting! For perfect half-square triangles - I used my AccuQuilt GO! Qube Half-Square Triangle die (which I love as no trimming is needed). Other options for half-square triangles: Bloc-loc Ruler and Half-Square Triangle Paper on a Roll I love using Diagonal Seam Tape by Cluck Cluck Sew. It is such a time saver as you do not need to draw the corner to corner sewing line on the backside of the fabric. Don't forget to use pins for perfect points! I love the Magic pins! Press, press, press these blocks! Just look at all the crinkly goodness!!! Time for snuggling with my Charming Baby Quilts Sampler Quilt. I will be making more of the quilts in the Charming Baby Quilts book - they are so fabulous! Below is a peek of one of my favorite quilts in the book! Of course, I love a good star quilt! From Fat Quarter Shop and It's Sew Emma, "Charming Baby Quilts brings 10 original baby quilts to life, featuring the classic 5” square Charm Pack precut. Each design uses one, two or three Charm Packs, making this an essential book to have on hand for gifts and celebrations." Charming Baby Quilts book available HERE. PS - I loved sewing with Farm Charm that I purchased more fabric to make the black and white version of the Lucky Charm Quilt...it will be the perfect matching quilt for my Charming Baby Quilts Sampler! Hi Fabric Friends! Today I'm sharing a new club at Sewers Club called Stash Builder! Stash Builder is perfect to build your fabric stash with a curated bundle chosen just for you. Stash Builder is super flexible as you are able to choose how many fat quarters you want to receive (5 or 10 or 15) AND how often you want your personalized bundle to arrive in the mail (monthly or bi-monthly or quarterly) so it's perfect for everyone! Sign up HERE and save 25% off your first Stash Builder at Sewers Club My first Stash Builder Bundle - it is amazing! What I love about Stash Builder available at Sewers Club .... I was able to personalize my bundle by answering a few questions: favorite fabric colors, favorite fabric designs (solids, prints, novelty, holiday, and/or batik), and a never send design option. Included is a card that lists every fat quarter in your box in left to right order. This is FABULOUS so I can order additional yardage of my favorite prints! I was able to choose how many fat quarters to include in my Stash Builder and how often I want Stash Builder to ship - choose what fits your budget. Each Stash Builder is a surprise - but don't worry you will love the curated bundle as it is personalized. Each fat quarter was folded and packed carefully in the box .... I love a pretty stack of fat quarters! Plus as a member you'll get an Exclusive Discount. Save 15% on ALL Sewers Club orders with code: Member Your Stash Builder will be different from mine as each bundle is curated to match your favorite fabrics. I love that my bundle coordinates so I can easily use all 15 fat quarters in one quilt or make multiple smaller projects!
