Ethnomusicology is the study of music in different cultures. Ethnomusicologists use the Hornbostel-Sachs system to classify ALL instruments into four main groups, according to how they produce sound. This artful representation of this classification system can help visualize the instrument groups: idiophones, membranophones, chordophones and aerophones.
