It been too long since I last showed you my favorite vintage airline posters! I've rounded up a few more and thrown in some non-airline ones. I find these works of art so fun and graphically amazing! I can't imagine what it must have been like in the 40s or 50s being an artist and trying to "sell" Africa to a crowd of Europeans. It's also amazing how the same concepts used to draw people in so many years ago (namely: seeing "natives" and going on "safari") are predominantly the same concepts used to draw tourists to the Continent today. {Photos: here & here}

Disclaimer: Please noted that there will have additional white space around the actual print. For example, if you order a 16x20 size print, there will be approx. 1" to 2" additional space around the print. The additional white space is acting like a cushion during the shipping. The print will move violently up and down during the shipping and there is for sure the side of the print may bend or damage. With the additional white space on 4 sides, it can prevent this problem. I understand this may cost you extra time to trim the print to fit in a poster frame. I rather you can receive a perfect print instead a damage one.Thank you very much for your order! All these images are by one of my favourite of the early African studio photographers, A.James, active in Conakry circa 1900-1910. As far as I am aware, and unlike many of his contemporaries, his life and work has as yet not been researched. They are superbly evocative images, combining poise, beauty, fashionable hairstyles, jewellery, locally woven and imported textiles ….
