Every week ArtisticMoods invites an artist to tell us something about the ambitions behind their work. This week we give the word to Austria based artist Alice Wellinger, a former graphic designer who creates beautiful, colorful and surreal paintings of all kinds. As a self taught Illustrator I am a late starter. I worked as […]
More than 1,000 arts professionals will arrive in San Antonio starting Wednesday for the annual Americans for the Arts conference, a reminder that good art is also good business. Recently, a very sweet Kansas City photographer named Allison Marshall came to town to snap a picture or two of me. Actually, we had a whole photo shoot and it was a lot of fun. The weather didn't quite cooperate the way we wanted it to (it was windy and COLD!), but it all ended up working out anyway! Here are some favorites from the shoot: (My green dress is vintage from LantanaVintage) As you can imagine, playing a very loud accordion all dressed up on some railroad tracks next to a park might get you a couple of glances (hehe), but I did my best to set my embarrassment aside and tried to have fun with it. I haven't had my picture "professionally" taken, except a small handful of times, so it was a pretty new experience. True, I'm no stranger to being in front of a camera, but almost all of my photos are either shot by myself or Johnny (who has seen ALLLLL of my crazy faces), so I had to do my best to step out of my comfort zone a bit and just go with it. Let's just say there was a lot of nervous clapping and fidgeting. ;) Anyway, Allison is a real sweetheart. I'll have another set of photos to share from our time together very soon! In the meantime, you should pop by her blog Live Laugh Wonder and say hello! xo.
