What does ADHD do to the brain? Obviously, the hyperactivity, impulsiveness, distractibility, and restlessness inherent in this disorder have a root in the brain. And thanks to advances in brain scanning technology, scientists and researchers can take a look at the structural differences between an ADHD brain and a non-ADHD brain. This article discusses the pathophysiology of this disorder and points out some specific findings that relate to internal parts of the brain and the way they function differently to parts in a normal brain. As with so many matters related to the complex workings of the brain, what we know and what we think we know are really the same.
