Alot of you have asked to see how I put my bouquet structure together so here's a little video, hope it helps.
Now on to the cupcake bouquet! I've been dying to make one of these beauties! How can you resist? They are so elegant, beautiful and FUN! Cupcake bouquets are pretty popular these days, although most of the ones I've seen are set in flower pots and held together by lollipop sticks or toothpicks. Because I had to transport them to a place where I'd likely have little staging room I wanted to be able to set it up at home and have it stable enough to endure a car ride, and also because I wanted to use a vase and not a pot, I needed another alternative. An idea I found on http://www.mycakeschool.com/ was to use 2oz plastic cups to set the cupcakes in. Simple, inexpensive and pure genius! I used green papercups instead, but whatever is easiest for you would be just fine. I stapled the cups together in the shape that a bouquet might look, filled the crystal vase with some green basket grass, taped the cups to the vase for stablility, and hoped for the best (please note your vase/pot has to be weighted down so it doesn't tip over!). This particular bouquet contained 19 cupcakes. Here it is in all its spendor!! I really have to say this is a very eye-catching idea and fun for kids and adults alike! It is topped with gumpaste daisies and fondant butterflies. The cupcakes are vanilla butter sponge cake with lemon curd filling and lemon SMB. I can't wait to make more of these! This is what the bouquet set-up looked like. Pretty, yummy cupcakes!

Flowers are great, but what could be better than a bouquet your "sweet" mom can eat? Below, I am sharing tutorials on how to make you special lady a bouquet made from her favourite treats. Who wouldn't love a Mother's Day Bouquet made from cupcakes, chocolate bars, or donuts? To make a cupcake bouquet, you'll need to gather a few basic supplies. I used a dollar store mug, a styrofoam ball, toothpicks, tissue paper, and cupcakes (store bought or homemade). Then: 1) Insert a styrofoam ball into a container. 2) Use toothpicks to secure the cupcakes to the styrofoam ball. 3) Glue tissue paper squares to toothpicks, and insert them into the blank spaces between the cupcakes. Isn't this an adorable bouquet? It would make a wonderful Mother's Day centrepiece too. If cupcakes aren't your favourite, a tasty donut bouquet is super easy to make. Simple insert donut holes into skewers, secure the bottoms of the skewers with an elastic, and wrap the bouquet in tissue paper. A yummy chocolate bar bouquet is another fun options. Use hot glue to secure mini chocolate bars to skewers, use an elastic to secure the skewers together, and wrap the bouquet in tissue paper. Easy peasy! What could be sweeter than edible Mother's Day bouquet crafted and delivered by my sweet boys? What type of edible bouquet would you like to receive on Mother's Day? I'm secretly hoping to receive a donut and coffee breakfast in bed. If you see my boys, can you please remind them that apple fritters are my favourite? ;-) Happy Mother's Day! ♥ Gina Bell (aka East Coast Mommy) Find more Mother's Day DIYs, tips, and tricks here.

Graduation season is here again! This year I started with an order for Sunflower cupcakes in a flower pot. The customer sent me a picture she had found online and asked me to recreate it. The final display! The most important part of this order was the flower pot. I had never done it before and had never seen it done, other than online. So there was a lot of guessing. I bought two different sized pots because I didn't know how many cups I could fit and I didn't want to go back out! I used 5oz plastic cup and a glue gun.I glued them in the middle outside of the cups so they'd be angled a bit. Once I had the outside cups glued, I did the cups in the center. The small pot only needed one, the larger needed 3. For those, I glued them on the outside bottom because the middle didn't touch any other cups. After they were all dried, I placed them inside the pots and glued three of the cups to the pot. I added a bow and TA-DAH! The flower pots and cupcakes ready for delivery To start with, I had to try many different styles to get the flower I wanted. Without the white swirl around the Oreo, the sunflower seemed too tall and awkward. The mini Oreos were too small for the sunflowers. The failed trials. The successful cupcakes started with the top of the cupcake sliced off to make a smooth flat surface. (Sorry I forgot to take a pictures!) I did a swirl of white icing around the edge of the cupcake, then put the Oreo in the center directly on the cupcake. Using my tip # , I started putting pedals around the Oreo. I started at the bottom and went all the way around, then I did the next row started in between each prior pedal so they all showed and didn't just pile up. Once I got to the top of the Oreo, I did the pedals standing up so they'd "flop" over like pedals at the top of a flower do. I wiped my tip before each pedal so it had a clean edge. A single finished Sunflower.
