Some of you who have been with me a while, may recall a post I did shortly after Christmas last year. (If not, and you're curious and/or bored, you can find it here.) I struggled a bit last year to find my Christmas "joy" which, in other years, came so readily and un-beckoned. Then, a very special package arrived that made my heart, like the Grinch's, grow three times in size. That package came from my sweet friend Shirlee, a/k/a "The Easily Influenced Stitcher." And while I could never have dreamed Shirlee could "outdo" last year's amazing "Christmas in a box," she did. And, like last year, it took me back and made me truly ponder the wonder of a Christmas-filled heart. After the bustle of Christmas Eve festivities were over, I sat alone with the Christmas music playing and the lights twinkling, and reveled in the blessings of a friend's amazing kindness. Simple, unassuming packages...but oh the treasures within.... Five (yes, FIVE!! pinch, pinch!) gorgeous stitcheries....I would have reveled in the gift of one, but five had me hearing angels singing. All are Country Rustic Primitives designs (one of my most favorite designers!!) and each is beautifully hand-stitched and creatively finished by the oh-so-talented (but oh-so-humble) Shirlee: (Winter 1839) (Merry Christmas 1843) (I LOVE reindeer!) (Noel 1867) (Joy 1837) (Did I mention I LOVE reindeer??!) (Sleigh Bells) All are patterns I hoped some day to do (how did she know???)....but it would have taken me a month of Christmases or more. To have them stitched for you by a friend is a gift like no other. Shirlee's heart is surely filled with the spirit of the season and she has a way of filling others' hearts with the magic of the season as well. She is single-handedly making Christmases merry, one Christmas at a time. Thank you my sweet (and overly generous) friend!! ********************************** Since it is doubtful I'll get another post in before then (all that daily merriment posting almost posted me out), I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy, happy, new year! May it be overflowing with joys and blessings, large and small......

First of all make sure you check in on me more often. I finally decided to get a ipad so I could blog more. I felt that I didn't blog much because of all the steps needed to get things done on the desktop computer. But now I can take the pictures and blog all at once so watch out you will be hearing from me a lot more. This was the original family room we built in 2003. Then in 2012 we added the logs to make it feel like a old log cabin. The tv was in the big green cabinet. Of course we never leave anything alone for long we added a fireplace with a big tv above. And what a difference this has made in the room. This is where the green tv cabinet was in the above picture. This room always felt cold with all the windows - not any longer ! It is a cozy warm place to enjoy a movie. The little drawers are faux and the entire row lifts up exposing the cable box, surround sound, and Xbox. The doors open to expose a 65" TV. But the greatest deal of all is that we found this 42" gas fireplace at our local habitat for humanity restore for only $225. Here are a few photos of some little groupings I have thru out the house

In honor of the big wedding tomorrow, lets find our Royal Wedding Guest Name. Start with either Lord or Lady. Your first name is one of your grandparents' names. Your surname is the name of your first pet, double-barreled with the name of the street you grew up on. I would be either .... Lady Sophia Nellie Soutwell or Lady Rosario Tweety the Fourth they both sound pretty Regal to me . LOL ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I know I won't be getting up at 4:00am to watch the Royal Nuptials (I will catch up during the day or later in the evening) but I wish William & Kate a Beautiful Day & All God's Blessings on their Marriage. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Prayers & Good Thoughts for everyone affected by the weather we have been having. Hope all of my Friends & their Love Ones in Blog Land are safe. Sending Blessings & Hugs from the Cabin ~ Connie xox
...to all of the men and women who have given so unselfishly of themselves to serve our country. Because of them, we have our freedom today. For the families of those whose loved ones have served – past and present – our family thanks you for all of your sacrifices, too. In memory of our beloved son, Senior Airman, Jordan Roberts – Fireman, United States Air Force. Thank you, son, for your service to our country and for all of the sacrifices that you made. We love you and miss you like crazy. ((hugs)) and butterfly kisses….. In God’s speed…… A salute to all….. Peace to you today.
These little guys are on eBay this week. Two pug ornies! They’re such a sweet couple. They quarrel occasionally, but what couple doesn’t? See more pictures of Charlie & Marge here.

Last weekend was my first visit to Colonial Williamsburg. As I mentioned in my last post, I was part of a small group of bloggers invited by Benjamin Moore to learn more about the brand and their Williamsburg paint collection. I will be completely honest. I’m by no means a history buff and wasn’t Read More
