Aloha friends! Today I wanted to share a favorite treat of most people in Hawaii. All kids in Hawaii love Shave Ice. If you have ever traveled here you know that this is a must have! This is our favorite place for Shave Ice. On a warm day it is always crowded!! There are tons of flavors to choose from and the price is right for what you get. My daughter's is the purple cup. She chose the Sour Pucker. Mine is the blue, which is the tropical mix. Kids LOVE Shave Ice, so I created a little activity to add to my Aloha Unit. I know my class will love making this and writing about Shave Ice. I have included several writing templates to include kids who may have never tried it, or kids who live in Hawaii who love it! If you are crafty you can whip up your own version of this, but if you want to grab this along with lots of other fun Hawaiian activities stop by my TpT store. If you have already purchased this unit, then please stop by and download again. I am linking up with Mrs. Wheeler's First Grade too! Stop by and check out all the great posts! I really want to do this activity with my kiddos and am hoping I have time in the next few weeks. If not I will have to save it for the beginning of the year. Have you ever had Hawaiian Shave Ice? I would love to hear when, where and what flavors you chose!

These materials are all about “HAWAII“. They have been designed for A2/B1 level English lessons. The following is included: FACT SHEET (Reading) The fact sheet about Hawaii includes an information text, an information box and a vocabulary box. WORKSHEET (About the Reading) The worksheet is based on the fact sheet. The students can answer the worksheet with help from the information on the fact sheet. DOMINO (Facts about HAWAII) The fact sheet forms the basis for the domino. After the students have read the fact sheet, they will have the information needed to play. The domino serves as a post-reading activity. CONVERSATION BOARD GAME (Speaking Activity) The conversation board can be used as a speaking activity. The students should discuss the questions about Hawaii. Pupils can play in pairs, in small groups or even as a whole class. FACT POSTERS (Visualisation of Facts) The fact posters can be hung up in the classroom or placed on a table to be read. They summarise the main points of the fact sheet. IDEAS: The materials can be used on their own or as part of a larger “road trip“ project about the USA. The different parts can be used as ‘stations’ for the students to chose what they would like to work on. It is, of course, possible to use the parts separately. The main elements are the fact sheet and the worksheet. The other parts are designed to be used to further the knowledge of the students on this topic, by repeating the information they have read and the new vocabulary they have learnt.
