Exploring the Pocono Mountains? Abandoned Pennsylvania resorts of the '70s and '80s: Buck Hill Inn, Unity House, Pocono Gardens. Period love-nest decor like heart-shaped tubs, mirrored and carpeted walls, and shag rugs.
One of the things that makes a great designer is the ability to see beauty in unlikely places. And images of urban decay can really put that ability to

Holga 120n Kodak Portra 400 I was able to stop and talk to the owners of this house for a little bit. The house was built around 1900. They have stabilized the house and would like to restore it. On the side of the house where the porch has collapsed, there were columns similiar to the front porch. I bet this place was grand back in the day, and I'd love to find some pictures of it in its prime. Some history I've been able to find: The house was built around 1890 by Keebler H. and Hester Byrd Harville. Originally a 1 story house, the upper levels were added to accomodate their growing family. They had 10 children:Kate, Ruth, Sam, Virgil, Terrell, Slydel, Myrtis, Naomi, Nancy and Lucille. The last two people to live in the house were Nancy and Naomi Harville. Naomi died is 1967 and Nancy in 1976. An interesting fact is that Keebler Harville was one of the signers of the Articles of Secession for Georgia.

Located near Frankfort, Kentucky, this old bridge crossing Benson Creek was built in 1896. Bypassed by a new bridge in 1980, it has been abandoned to the elements and is slowly decaying alongside Devil's Hollow Road. Join us today as we check out this neat old structure. Aerial photo from Bing Maps. No explanation needed here... Closed portal. Rotted deck. I would not walk on this, at all. Steel beam, riveted in place. The bridge steel is kinda ugly, but I've seen and driven on worse. Old bridge, meet new bridge. Massive stone abutments. There is a small waterfall in the background. We were too rushed for time to check it out. A departing shot of the bridge. I suspect this bridge will be lost to time, needlessly. To keep up with the site, be sure to "Like" us on Facebook or follow us on Blogger. Thanks again!
When coal mines get the shaft, only abandoned winding towers remain to mark the places where Earth's underground bounty was winched to the surface.

The theater has been unused for over 25 years with its extravagant interior locked to the outside world. For many years demolition has been imminent and could be inevitable. Hopefully the city will work with the owners to help reopen its doors for the world to see.
