1940's Girl with car.
From the seller: A charming 1860’s green and white plaid printed cotton polonaise style bodice. The bodice has full pagoda style sleeves. It has a wide shawl style collar and a small green cotton print collar. The collar and sleeves are trimmed with black velvet ribbon and green silk fringe. The sides of the skirt are gathered up on each side. The bodice is lined with cotton and has a front button closure. The bodice is in very good condition. There is some slight underarm discoloration mostly to the inside lining. Bust 32 Waist 24. From Me: The bodice itself is very indicative of the early 1860's however the skirt, I think, was added later as the style changed after the American Civil War.

Having children is wonderful. Being pregnant, not so wonderful. Trying to dress vintage while being pregnant or nursing... challenging. Vintage maternity clothes have a limited history. Being pregnant was a taboo subject, and nursing your own child was out of fashion by the 1950s (only 20% of mothers breast-fed their babies). As soon as a

For Mom's 1863 Dress, I found a dress from the MET that will look fabulous on her! I also found in our stash fabrics that we can use for it!! Huzzah!!! Here it is! I love the purples and the fact that the bodice and skirt are different shades of purple. We only have 7 yards of the material for the skirt, so yeah for different materials in one dress!! Fabulous Purple MET dress The back is really pretty!! Mom's dress won't have the elliptical shape of this one as the cage crinoline is not elliptical. Mom's fabrics are very similar in color to the extant dress...but...the skirt in mom's will be the light purple and the bodice will be the darker wool. Close up of the texture of the light purple...the colors are wrong, but this gives you an idea of the fabrics! Can't wait to see this dress complete!! Mom will look fabulous!

Tunic “Sea Born” Flax linen tunic dress This flax linen tunic is based on simple, historical patterns and made to be pretty, comfortable, and universal to the medieval era. The “Sea Born” collection has a sense of wanderlust to it, for those who wish to wander misty coasts and dance through the waves of desolate, unnamed beaches. The designs, jewelry, and trims throughout the collection all have elements of the sea to tie them together. This dress is floor length and is slightly more fitted around the waist than a traditional tunic may have been, though it’s still close to early medieval tunics and dresses. The pattern is quite similar to a traditional Viking t-tunic, with gussets under the arms for movement and a few gores in the dress to give it a bit more volume without making it cumbersome. It has a scooped neckline that is neither high nor low and has lots of space in the underarm for movement and dancing. The sleeves are long and looser at the shoulder and more tapered at the wrist. The dress is embellished with fine details that make it truly ArmStreet quality, such as the wonderful trim that has been created by our artists. They took inspiration from the sea and waves, as well as Western European artwork to create the flowing pattern. The trim can be found around the neckline, wrists, and bottom hem of the dress. We have crafted this dress from 100% flax linen, which is a great all-weather fabric due to breathability, sweat-wicking properties in hot weather, and insulation in colder weather. It’s a natural textile and is still popular today for breezy, soft clothing. This dress has been expertly made and features strong, neat seams and nice finishing. Please note that while this listing is for the dress, there is also a belt available for purchase separately. To check how to measure yourself please click here.
