B is for Boleyn. The now iconic single-initial lavaliere, immortalised in Anne Boleyn’s portrait as Queen consort to King Henry VIII, has become synonymous with the scandalous royal and her untimely end
There is also a child version of this pattern: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tanne-in-child-s... If I didn’t love to read as much as I do, I would probably knit and design double amounts of what I do today… But I love to switch between the two. When working on this sweater I was reading a book written by one of my favourite authors; Karen Blixen. I had to force myself to continue the knitting, her books are the kind that you cannot put aside.. Her nick-name was Tanne, and I hope she wouldn’t have minded me naming my new sweater after her. Design and stitches This sweater has everything I want from a favourite sweater; lots of interesting stitch-patterns, broad ribbing, saddle-shoulders for a great fit… a neckline that could be worked low or high. And, due to all the different stitch-patterns it was fun to knit! There are double moss-sts, cables, eyelets, twisted sts and clusters… Sizes Finished chest measurements are: 97/105/112/120/127/135/142/150/158 cm = 38/41/44/47/50/53/56/59/62”. Sample is made in size 1, with approximately 12.5 cm/5” of ease. I recommend 0 - 5” of ease. Or maybe oversized… Materials Yarn: I recommend a worsted weight yarn with great stitch-definition that knits up to gauge. I used Lark from Quince & co., in the colourway “Audoin”, to work my pullover. This worsted weight yarn comes in skeins of 50 gr/1.76 oz, and 123 m/134 yards. Of this specific yarn you will need approximately 1200/1280/1400/1520/1620/1700/1820/1940/2120 m = 1308/1395/1526/1656/1765/1853/2114/2115/2310 yards. Needles: you need a circular needle, 80 – 100 cm/32 -40” long, size 4 mm/US6 to work the lower and upper body, a set of dpns’ size 4 mm/US6, or small circular needle to work the sleeves. You need a circular needle, 60 cm/24” long, size 3.5 mm/US4 to work the ribbed neckline. Gauge 21 sts and 30 rows/rounds in double moss-st = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4” The pattern All stitch-patterns are charted, as well as written out, round-by-round, except for the double-moss which is written out only. There is a schematic All measurements are given in cm’s as well as in inches. All necessary stitch-counts are given. Knitting skills: there are no difficult sts involved. However, since there are patterning all-over, I recommend this pattern to knitters with average, and above, knitting skills.
This pattern has been tested by a large number of talented knitters. A list of the testers is found at the bottom of the notes. This cute, little cardigan features an interesting and beautiful stitch-pattern. I loved working on it, it was so nice to see it grow. When my daughter and I visited beautiful Lisboa in May I had brought this project along and every morning before breakfast I knit a few rows. The pattern may look intriguing, but in fact it is very simple and quite intuitive. Construction. The body of the cardigan is worked bottom-up, the sleeves are worked top-down from picked-up sts around the armholes. The i-cord edge/buttonband is worked in one piece along the fronts and neckline. The cardigan is completely seamless. Sizes Size 3 months: 41 cm/16” Size 6 months: 46.5 cm/18.25” Size 1 year: 52 cm/20.5” Size 18 months – 24 months: 58 cm/23” Size 2 – 3 years: 64 cm/25”. Materials Yarn: I recommend that you use a sport weight (or fingering weight) yarn with great stitch-definition. I used the sport weight yarn, ”Aubrey Sport,” in the colour “Pearl”, from Martins Lab to work the cardigan. This yarn comes in skeins of 100 gr/3.53 oz and 300 meters/328 yards. Of this specific yarn you will need 300/350/400/450/550 m = 330/385/440/490/600 yards. Yardage may vary from knitter to knitter and from yarn to yarn. Needles: Choose needle size to obtain gauge. I used needle size 2.5 mm/US1.5, this is a suggestion only. The pattern The stitch-pattern is charted. There is a schematic. The measurements are in cm’s as well as in inches. All necessary measurements are given. The i-cord and buttonholes are explained. Knitting skills: intermediate. 200 designs, I can’t believe it! The years have passed so quickly, I have had so much fun - and the knitting needles have not rested:) Number 200 had to be special, and I am really proud to present my summer-top. *Design and construction.** The main-feature of this top is the circular, lace-patterned yoke. The hems of the sleeves and the lower body are worked in pattern. The rounded neckline, the sleeves and lower body are finished off with an i-cord bind-off. The top is worked top-down and seamlessly. The lace-pattern might seem a bit elabortate, in fact it is simple and awarding to knit. Sizes Finished chest measurements, after washing/blocking, and worked at gauge: 77/85/93.5/102/110/120/132 cm = 30.5/33.5/37/40/43.5/47/52”. Materials Yarn: I recommend that you use a fingering weight, that knits up to gauge, to work the top. I used “Lin” from Järbo garn to work the top. This fingering weight, linen yarn comes in skeins of 100 gr/3.53 oz and 200 m/219 yards. You will need approximately 600/650/760/820/880/940/1000 m = 654/709/829/894/960/1025/1090 yards of this specific yarn to work the top. Needles: size 3 mm/US2.5, Gauge 24 sts and 32-34 rounds in stockinette sts, after blocking/washing = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4”. Knitting skills Intermediate. Techniques used: provisonal cast-on (optional), short-rows, increases, i-cord bind-off. The pattern The pattern gives instructions for the provisional cast-on, the short-rows and the i-cord bind-off. The lace-pattern of the yoke is charted, as well as written out, round-by-round. The pattern of the hems is written out round-by-round. All stitch-counts are given. Measurements are given in cm’s as well as in inches. There is a schematic. Possible mods: As with all top-down sweaters you have the possibility of adding length to the sleeves and/or the body.

200+ Gilia Capitata Flower Seeds- Queen Anne's Thimbles - Globe Gilia -Blue Thimble Flower-Bluehead Gilia-Attractive to honey bees and Butterflies-B384 Gilia Capitata Flower seeds are easy to grow and this annual establishes quickly and blooms heavily. Gilia Capitata is robust native to much of California, forming a bushy multi-branching annual to 28 inches tall by 12 inches across with dense, ferny, almost lacy, rich green foliage. In addition to the common name Queen Anne's Thimbles, it is called Globe Gilia and Blue Thimble Flower. Throughout spring and early summer, it bears scented, violet blue rounded flowers that are loved by butterflies, bees, and more! The Gilia flower looks a bit like a pincushion with pins sticking in it. Maybe the appearance inspired the common names. Blue Thimble Flower is very drought tolerant and perfect for roadside plantings, the flower garden, meadows, or containers. Gilia capitata is a species of flowering plant in the phlox family known by the common names blue-thimble-flower, bluehead gilia, blue field gilia, and globe gilia. Globe gilia is very attractive to honey bees, and we also see great numbers of small ground-nesting sweat bees showing up on it, especially on warm mornings. The Propertius duskywing butterfly (Erynnis propertius), and various skipper butterflies are a few other insect visitors we’ve seen on this great plant. For the earliest blooms, start the Gilia Capitata seed indoors 4 - 8 weeks before the last expected frost. Transplant the Globe Gilia seedlings outside when frost danger has passed in a sunny location. For areas with a long growing season, the Queen Anne's Thimbles seeds can be started in a prepared seedbed. Sow the flower seeds on the surface, pressing them firmly into the soil. When the Gilia seedlings are 1 - 2 inches in height, thin to strongest plant 8 - 12 inches apart and replant the thinned seedlings. Globe Gilia plants prefer sunny, hot, dry conditions and do not require much water. Temperature: 70 F (21 C) Quantity: 50+ Average Germ Time: 15 - 21 days Light Required: Yes Depth: Surface sow and press seed into earth Sowing Rate: 4 - 5 seeds per plant Moisture: Keep seeds moist until germination Plant Spacing: 12 inches Season: Annual USDA Zones: 3 - 10 Height: 28 inches Bloom Season: Spring to early summer Bloom Color: Violet blue Environment: Full sun Soil Type: Well drained soil with a pH of 7.0
