Marco Polo was born in Venice around 1254. He died January 9, 1324. He lived a very interesting life. Starting at the age of 17, he began a journey that lasted for 24 years and more than 24,000 miles. He came from a line of Venetian Merchants, a very lucrative career in the booming silk and spice trades. Marco's travels inspired many folks who went on to "discover" other places around the world. And he provides our family with a terrific opportunity to study Europe and Asia. I am working on a year long series on the Polo family travels and thought I'd share it with you. Enjoy and please post any additional information you have for us or corrections.
