Today, I want to share a personal journey that's close to my heart – my battle with dark underarms. It's a topic that's often overlooked, but for many of us, it can be a real source of insecurity. From school to sports and everything in between, I've struggled with hiding my dark underarms and feeling self-conscious about raising my arms. But through trial and error, I finally found a solution that worked wonders for me. So, if you're tired of feeling insecure about your underarms, stick around – I've got some tips to share that will help you lighten them up fast! What Causes Dark Underarms? Dark underarms, also known as underarm hyperpigmentation, can affect anyone. It occurs when the skin in the underarm area produces more melanin, the pigment responsible for skin color, leading to a darker appearance. There are various factors contributing to dark underarms: Shaving: Regular shaving can lead to irritation and ingrown hairs, resulting in darkened skin. Antiperspirant Troubles: Some antiperspirants with harsh chemicals might cause irritation and discoloration. Friction: Tight clothing can create friction, leading to darkening in the underarm area. Excessive Sweating: Overactive sweat glands can lead to the accumulation of sweat and bacteria, resulting in darkened skin over time. Genetics: Sometimes, it's in the genes. Hormones: Fluctuations in hormones, such as those during puberty, pregnancy, or menopause, can contribute to darkening under the arms. Who is More Prone to Dark Underarms? Hyperpigmentation, the main culprit behind dark underarms, can affect individuals with darker skin tones more than those with lighter skin tones. However, it's essential to note that anyone, regardless of their skin tone, can experience darkening due to various factors. How To Lighten Dark Underarms? I've been on a search for a natural solution to combat dark underarms, just like you. It's frustrating to feel self-conscious about discoloration and long for a product that actually works. That's why I'm so excited to share this brightening scrub with you. This product is not your average body scrub. It's made with ingredients like turmeric, papaya, lemon, tea tree, orange, sugar, and shea butter. It not only scrubs away dead skin cells, it brightens and evens out your skin tone too! Let's take a look at how each ingredients helps get the job done... Ingredients Turmeric: Turmeric has anti-inflammatory and brightening properties and it works wonders on underarm discoloration, helping to even out skin tone and reduce dark spots. Papaya: Papaya has enzymes that gently exfoliate, removing dead skin cells to reveal a smoother, brighter and more radiant underarm surface. Lemon & Orange: These 2 have a ton of vitamin C and antioxidants, they team up to brighten your underarms, fading dark spots and rejuvenating the skin for a vibrant glow. Tea Tree: Its natural astringent properties that help odor and help reduce the appearance of dark spots and promoting a brighter, more even-toned underarm complexion. Sugar: Sugar acts as a natural exfoliant, sloughing away dead skin cells and promoting a brighter complexion. Shea Butter: Moisturizes deeply, leaving your skin irresistibly soft and supple, enhancing your overall underarm experience. How to Use It? This product is very easy to use. Simply massage the scrub on wet skin for at least 30 seconds (I always use it in the shower). Focus on the areas you want to lighten, then rinse off with warm water. If you shave your underarms, exfoliate right before shaving because it helps prep the skin for a cleaner shave. This will help prevent any future discoloration and even prevent razor bumps and ingrown hairs. If you wax, exfoliate before your wax appointment. Use 3 times a week for faster results. How Long To See Results If you are consistent it is possible to see results quickly. Some people see results after only 2 weeks while for other it may take longer. I've used this brightening scrub to lighten my vag area too and I started seeing result after 2 weeks. But it took a bit longer to see results on my underarms. Remember that everyone's skin is different. Be consistent and patient, I would recommend you give the product at least 6-8 weeks to see results.
It didn't go smoothly...
In case you didn't know how shaving legs and armpits for women became a norm, you can blame the relentless advertising campaigns. At the beginning of the 20th century, women, and of course society in general, couldn't care less about the natural hair growing on their bodies. However, after sleeveless dresses came into fashion, advertisers began targeting women's hairy armpits, encouraging women to remove them. Then followed leg hair. By the 1950s, after what seemed to be merely a fad created by annoying advertisers, shaving your hairy legs and armpits became a social norm lasting for decades.
