About The Artwork Hello. Thank you for your interest! My studio is located in Islamorada, Florida—which is a skinny, remote island chain in the middle of the ocean, just north of Key West, Florida. The linocuts in this collection are a love letter to my small tropical community. If you haven't been here, you have to visit, we are often referred to as "America's Caribbean." It is my hope that these pieces transport you to our simple, rustic way of life. **These are original numbered editions. I sell them at galleries in addition to this online forum, so the number you will be receiving is likely different than the number on the art in the representative photo. Please contact me if you would like to know the exact edition number you will be receiving. Each of my prints are hand-drawn and then hand-carved (in negative) on a linoleum block. Once the block is carved I roll it with ink and press the paper to the wet block using a traditional Japanese baren. No two pieces are alike. The markings and imperfections that transfer to the page in the pressing process are celebrated as part of the linocut esthetic. The centuries old linocut technique is often associated with street or outsider art, and has a rich history that gained momentum when Picasso embraced the medium in the 1950's. Size: 18" x 24" inches Paper: Masa White Handmade Washi Paper: Crisp, bright white paper with deckled edges. Do not confuse this paper with the light weight or waxed Masa commonly sold in the U.S. This paper is more like a heavy Hosho that has been sized for use with water-based inks. It is thick and tough but retains a soft touch to it. What is Washi? Washi is distinguished from modern commercial paper, even high quality art paper, by being made entirely by hand, using traditional methods, in small isolated villages in Japan. Reduction Printmaking: In relief printing, a reduction print is a multicolor print in which the separate colors are printed from the same block. Usually, the lightest color is printed first and then the block is "reduced" by carving away certain areas to prepare the plate for the next color. The disadvantage of reduction printmaking is that once the print is complete, the process cannot be duplicated. The linocut is a printmaking technique similar to that of the woodcut, the difference bei

Inspired by the ordinary everyday. This original limited edition print takes inspiration from the simple rituals of the day - washing rice in preparation for dinner. Carefully washing and rinsing the rice, ready for cooking in the rice cooker. A small domestic everyday task. It’s the perfect addition to your home, evoking memories of precious meal times with loved ones. Limited Edition Art Based on a simple observational sketch at home, the design is then transferred to the block and carefully hand carved. It is then printed by hand onto beautiful Awagami Kitakata paper. This washi paper is a very thin, but strong, paper that is a delicate pale cream in colour with a slight sheen to it and compliments the original design. This original artwork is great for those that also appreciate the everyday simplicity of washing rice, and would fit into any kitchen wall with ease. It’s a beautiful reminder of the importance of taking time to enjoy the little things. This print is perfect for anybody looking to add a bit of unique home culture to their walls. It is printed with archival ink onto beautifully delicate Awagami Kitakata washi paper with deckled edges. This hand printed limited edition artwork will make a great birthday present or housewarming gift. Each print is pressed by hand, so there will be natural variations in colour and texture and there may be slight indentations in the margins where the paper was pressed over the edge of the block. This is all part of what makes each print truly handmade and unique.
