Few individuals have made such an invaluable contribution to the study and appreciation of Asian art in the West than the collector and dealer Robert Hatfield Ellsworth (July 13, 1929 – August 3, 2014). Embracing ancient bronzes and Ming furniture, early modern Chinese painting, fine jade, and Himalayan, Indian, and Southeast Asian works of art, Ellsworth became a premiere scholar of the Asian art historical canon. As well as a skilled and passionate collector of English furniture, silver and decorative arts in the aesthetic of the time in which these cultures combined. Ellsworth’s prolific contributions mark him as one of the last true connoisseur-dealers. And his brilliance, passion and expertise is embodied in his personal collection, one of the greatest assemblages of Asian art in the history of collecting. During his life, Ellsworth resided in a twenty-room apartment on Fifth Avenue in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. In 1977, the New York Times to dub him the ‘King of Ming’ in an article they published following a theft of an estimated $300,000 worth of objects from his apartment. In 2015 his collection was part of an exhibition at Christie’s Rockefeller Center as part of their historic auction following his passing. "Bezoekers kunnen zich in de zomer van 2014 verwonderen over de gebeurtenissen in deze fantasievolle wereld. Paul Noble (1963, Groot-Brittannië) werkt sinds 1996 aan het project. In de expositie worden alle van hem bekende grote werken (soms wel 7x5 meter per stuk) samengebracht. Deze serie is nog nooit bijeen getoond en verspreid geraakt over verzamelingen en musea over de gehele wereld. De serie wordt getoond ‘minus twee’, in verband met de projecten waaraan Paul Noble ook na de tentoonstelling in 2014 nog verder zal werken. In 2004 en 2005 kocht Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen twee werken van de kunstenaar. Com jeitão que lembra uma cegonha, a enorme ave serpenteia todo o local e o bar onde as bebidas são servidas fica literalmente em seu corpo. Para completar a inusitada instalação, bancos-ovos com direito a assentos em formato de gema.
