Last month photographer Sigurdur William camped out at the edge of the Kerid volcanic crater lake in Iceland where he captured this unusual view of the Northern lights and stars reflected on the water’s surface. Located in southern Iceland the Kerid is one of many crater lakes in the area that are frequented by locals and tourists alike, some of which visit through William’s photography tour business ArcticShots. “This is what the LORD says— He who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” -Isaiah 43:16, 18-19 As I look back at 2012 I like to take an honest measure of what was accomplished. It is so easy to get caught up in the accomplishments of what others "see" and what our fleshy hearts desire acknowledgement for, but a pastor friend has encouraged me through an article to look beyond the what man can approve and seek what the Lord's approval might be. As you look back at 2012, into the storehouses filled with the fruit of what you did last year--what do you have to show? Is it chaff and stubble, ready to be burnt up and thrown out? Or have you been storing up treasure preparing for rewards that will not be taken from you? Christian women, we need not be led easily astray, and let me tell you that there are SO many who would like to lead you astray--even right inside church walls. We need to be alert, in the Scriptures, holding tight to His word and the gospel and being one-minded and passionately on fire for the Lord and His mission. The world would love to dull our senses--with false teaching and philosophies that tempt our idolatrous hearts, and even worse, desensitized you to the point of numbness and not caring one way or another assuming that what is wrong is right since everyone else is doing it. Getting us off mission. Friends, let this not be so in 2013. Let 2013 be the year that your life overflow with His purpose. Kingdom purpose. "See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Whatever your past may hold--the truth of what only you and the Lord knows resolve today to make right before Him. He is your King and desires for us to lay down our whole lives for Him...even when it is painful. Let Him prune you this 2013. “This is what the LORD says— He who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past." As we look forward to 2013 we need to ask the Lord for clarity and for focus. If you do not know how to begin or where to start, may I suggest the following: 1. Pray for guidance, revived vision, and clarity for you, your husband, your family, your churches and neighborhood. 2. Fast--accompany this with prayer. Many Christians are fasting in the new year for renewal and revival for themselves and the world around them. 3. Be Kingdom minded--put down those magazines with their "to-do" lists for a successful year and seek what the Lord's mission for you would be this coming year. Yes, to get organized, lose weight, and declutter are all good things but don't forget the kingdom work He has planned for you as well. As we seek The Lord's purpose year, we definitely need to seek Him on our knees. Ladies, let us to freshly resolve to live this year for Him and seek His approval over the world's. Will you join me?
Niagara Falls, Horseshoe Falls Peering over the edge...
If you are looking for a taste of life on the edge, this just has to be the place. Only a slippery, submerged lip of rock stands between these bathers and a 100m drop over the world's largest waterfall. The Devil's Swimming Pool is certainly aptly named. It is created each year at the fringes of Victoria Falls, when the dry season reduces water levels to create what has been likened to the ultimate infinity pool
This enormous garden was featuring garden sculptures when we visited and it was wonderful what they added to the landscape.
