100 Days of Organic Applique - The Book!
I am pretty excited to share these cards with you today! They were stamped using the new Storybook stamp from Avery Elle. This set is pretty special because my friend, and fellow Go-To-Gal Heather Campbell drew these images! Completely sweet, I love these images. And all the little details that go along with them! Like the little birds I used on the banner. And yes, that is color pencil I used to color the image. I have a bit of a kick going on with them right now. I am terribly rusty and need to keep practicing! :) The image is layered on Baby Mine Boy paper from Carta Bella and thin muslin that was die cut. And say hello to my new obsession, wood dots! Swoon! For my second card, I used colored pencil on Steel Grey cardstock. Love the results! Sometimes the color pencil would hide the stamped lines, so I used a black Copic pen to bring the lines back out again. The white dots were added with white colored pencil. And I used the blending pencil, once I was done coloring, to get a smoother color finish. Be sure to stop back tomorrow and get linked to the MFT Blog for my review on the new Hybrid inks. I have lots of ideas and tips to share! Plus, get a look at many of the colors in action! thanks for stopping by! ~kimberly Supplies for Welcome Little One Card: InLinkz.com Supplies for Make A Wish Card: InLinkz.com
A while ago I showed you the sock dolls I had made from one of the 3 craft books I got for Christmas, and I made one of my wildly optimistic promises to share a project I had made from the other 2 books soon. Well here's number 2. My husband bought me this book (by Rashida Coleman-Hale), completely off his own bat, as I had never actually heard of it, though I recognised so many of the projects that I now realise I am probably the only blogging crafty person who hasn't! How have I missed it?! There are so many things I want to try in this book, but the project that caught my attention first was the mobile. I loved the flowers Rashida made but I had an idea for a class using felt animals so I decided to try this out. First of all I hade to design and make the little felt animals, and as I love pandas, and as there is so much in the news about the pandas coming to Edinburgh (and no, I haven't seen them yet!), I had start with this little guy. I just love him!! As the animals are going to be 'flying' I though a bird would be appropriate. This little mouse may seem familiar as I made very similar little critters to go in the baskets of my Hot Air Balloon Cot Quilt a few years ago. And I used the same idea when I made these Animal in a Teacup Pincushions. But I have deliberately made these felt animals as simple as possible. They are quick and easy to make with running stitch seams in matching perle 8. I had an idea to offer a Baby Shower Party class, where each person would make a felt animal at the party (over an hour or 2) and then for a small charge, we would turn it in to a mobile for the baby. But first of all I am going to try out the idea by offering a full day workshop to make all 6 animals. I will be showing how to make the mobile on the day, but I don't think we will actually get much more than the animals made. And anyway some people might just want to make the little animals and not make them into a mobile. I do think they are all really adorably cute though! It was hard to come up with enough animals that would work as an oval shape and that were interesting colours (and not just brown, grey or white). And then we had to make the mobile. I say 'we', I roped hubby in to cut and bend the wires (thanks Jonathan!). I couldn't get hold of the linen yarn recommended in the book for wrapping round the wires. So I used some Sirdar 'simply recycled' cotton (one of many new wool ranges I am now selling in my shop - more on this later!). It worked fine, this is, after all, a home-made mobile. Boy, was it hard to get a decent photo of the mobile! Those little guys just wouldn't stop flying around! Jonathan took this one, so at least you can see the construction. The original had only 4 'spokes' but I wanted 6. I love how happy they all look now they have been set free to fly around! Now to pop this on the website - the workshop will be on Saturday 5th May if any local peeps are interested. Though I am sure you clever lot could work out how to make this just from my photos and Rashida's wonderful book!
Hi Everyone! Ashley here and I'm so excited to share Swell and CelebRAYtion with you today! Let's get to it... I started my card by heat embossing Swell using White Fine Embossing Powder. Next, I used Distress Oxides to blend the water scene. I used Post it Tape to mask off a small sun beam of light and added splatters of Distress Oxide. Next, I inked the sand and heat embossed the sentiment. I wanted more control of the splatters so instead of ink I used a Copic marker to place the dots in the sand. Next I stamped, die cut and colored the rays and seaweed using CelebRAYtion and added them to my scene. Thanks for stopping by! Supplies Swell Clear Stamps CelebRAYtion Clear Stamps CelebRAYtion Dies

One has the words "Jesus Is Purr-fect!" and the other template has the words "You Are Purr-Fect!". Just have the kids color the picture first before they cut it out. You can easily use tape to assemble the cat together. Check out our main website at Church House Collection which has TONS of printables and lessons for kids!!

I'm trying to get those creative juices flowing early - not sure if I'm helping or deterring, but I certainly have fun! As I discovered in our art session this evening, she is not yet as enthusiastic about painting as her mommy, but we made it work. Most is hers, but I did my part to make sure the tape effect turned out as I had imagined. This project required: a 2-pack of 11x14 canvas tape (Andy used to do auto pinstriping so I chose a thickness from his stash) gesso crayola paints sponge brushes Note, my inspiration. First, I laid out the tape between the two canvases and applied gesso along the tape lines. This prevents color from going under the tape. Next, I cut the tape connecting the two canvases, then applied blue painters tape around the outside, both to provide a border for the paint and to hold the tape in place. Then, I let her loose with sponge and regular brushes... The final product looks a bit chaotic (as mentioned before, I did fill in the blank spots - I'd ask her what color should go where once she had lost interest in doing it herself) Once the tape is removed, the final masterpiece is revealed! I true work of art for the boring playroom walls! Another recent project - painting snowflake ornaments for the Grandmas... And an ornament for our tree as well!
When I first saw the sketch for the October AEI♥U Challenge at Avery Elle I saw the circle panel as a wreath and couldn't shake that idea. My original plan was to use the stamps from AE's Rounded Diamonds set to stamp a wreath, but I started playing with the matching dies. The more I played, the more I liked the idea of using patterned paper die cuts and before you know it I had created the wreath on this card. The diamond die cuts were attached to a die cut ring base. I adhered all the green ones first to get the spacing even and fit the holly paper ones in between them. The wreath is popped up on the card base with foam adhesive. A sheer red ribbon bow and sentiment from Oh Happy Day finish off this clean & simple card. I am also linking this card to the Festive Friday Challenge #20: Wreath and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Blog Challenge where Anything Goes this week. Thanks for stopping by, Jacquie
