This week we have been working on describing two characters from George's Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl. We created describe maps on Google Drawings then used our thinking map to write a description of either George or Grandma. Enjoy. George by Sherlyn George from George’s Marvellous Medicine is brave because he wasn't afraid to make the medicine. However George was also naughty because he made the medicine even though he knew something would probably go wrong. I think George was creative because he created the magic medicine from lots of strange ingredients. He was also afraid when Mr Kranky (his dad) said that they would open a supermarket, selling his medicine. In the story George has blond hair, he wears a red T-shirt and jeans. George is a kind boy but his grandma doesn't think so. His grandma thinks he is a lazy old brat and he is growing too fast. He doesn't have any friends because he lives in the countryside where there are not many children and his school is far away. George’s dad has his own farm with lots of animals. In the story he made a marvellous medicine that made his grandma and his dad’s chicken grow. When his dad heard about the medicine he made all his animals grow. I think George was right to make the medicine because his grandma was really mean to him. I would never want a grandma like George’s grandma because she’s a smelly old hag and doesn't listen to anything George says. My grandma’s way nicer than George’s grandma and I am glad that my grandma is nice to me. Grandma by Samarah Grandma from George’s Marvellous Medicine is a wicked person who has a pointy nose and a wretched face. She is rotten and has never smiled. Grandma is a mean woman with a wrinkly face. She has pale brown teeth with a puckered mouth that looks like a dogs bottom. She was super, super tiny so she needed a walking stick and a stool. She was grouchy and beastly and looked like a witch. She didn’t need to do any work or anything, George and George’s mum and dad had to do everything for her and that old wicked woman did nothing, she didn’t even move a muscle. She sounded like an old witch with a croaky voice like a frog. She had a mind but it was a weird mind. Grandma never liked George she hated him. She was a wicked witch the only thing she needed was her medicine. Grandma was a selfish character and an old little maggot the only thing she did was order people around. She did nothing else but be boosy so I think she deserved everything that happened to her.

12 Funny Pranks For April Fool’s Day that your kids will adore!
In true Brit fashion I would like to start this post by saying Scorchio! What. A. Belting. Week. The summer has truly hit… all one week of it because, as far as I’m aware, it’s planning to be cooler and rainy this week. Joy. So let’s have a little look back” Monday : Coconut chicken curry – lush! Everyone really enjoyed this. Tuesday :: Summer beef stew – I wasn’t too keen on this, which is unusual for me. I think It was just a bit of an odd one! The kids and Adam seemed to enjoy it. Wednesday :: Summer Dump & Bake pasta – the boys raved about this, Toby in particular asked for seconds, thirds and then finished off everyone’s leftovers! Thursday :: BLT – they had the B… it was so warm no one was really fussed! Friday :: Takeaway – swapped takeaway nights! Saturday :: Quesadilla – we didn’t actually have this, I made a summer buffet and we all enjoyed that! Sunday :: Peanut noodles – Adam said it was delish but the two littles weren’t really keen! So looking forward to this week, I’ve gone down a salad root… Let’s see how that goes ha! Monday :: Caprese chicken This looks lovely, and I’ve ordered some baby potatoes to go with it, or maybe something like pasta. Regardless, YUM. From Dinner at the Zoo. Tuesday :: Grilled Honey BBQ chicken foil packets Another chicken dish (features heavily this week!) that I think looks really yummy and is genuinely minimal effort. Whack it all in the foil packets and leave them in the oven. This is from The Recipe Critic. Wednesday :: Tex Mex Chicken chopped salad Now I already know this is going to be an issue for Edith, so I’m considering cooking her a little separate portion of chicken with some pasta on the side. We’ll see. She will hate the salad I think, but we can’t all cook around her. This is from Life in the Lofthouse. Thursday :: Thai Peanut Salad Frankly this sounds like heaven to me, but I can see resistance. Adam made comments about wanting to eat better and has started running so this should be great for him. The kids… hmm. We’ll see. I’ll be adding chicken! This is from Seeking Good Eats. Friday :: Beef & Noodles This looks insanely good, nice burst of carb power for the football heavy weekend! This is from The Omnivore’s Cookbook. Saturday :: Takeaway Sunday :: Teriyaki Chicken Casserole Another one from Life in the Lofthouse – this looks every bit a meal that my family will enjoy! There are so many fun things you can do with plastic Easter Eggs. I am unfortunately discovering this with only a day or 2 left before Easter comes and goes. We may just have to celebrate Easter all year long! For this activity, I hid a penny inside one of the eggs. LM had to search through all the eggs to find which one held the coin. I tried to get him to pick up one egg at a time and shake it so he could listen for something inside. He did this sometimes, but mostly had fun opening all the eggs. We took turns hiding the penny and had a lot of fun!
