Think about you, quilting. Pair that image with your wildest, most wouldn’t-it-be-amazing dream. What does your marvel of a quilting experience look like? For astronaut Karen Nyberg, her quilting adventure was a literal out-of-this world event: making a quilt block in orbit, on the International Space Station. Wow! Inspiration doesn’t come on a scale much …

This listing is for a pdf download of 12 (plus one to make 13) full color graphs of Barn Quilts. ***This is not the finished wood barn quilt itself product.*** You would use the graphs as a guide to mark your design (usually with a straight edge and pencil after you prime your wood.) Example: You have a 24" square piece of wood that has been primed.. So say the graph is 8 squares across and down. Each square in this case would represent 3" (to equal 24") . If you want it bigger or smaller...each square could represent 2" or 4"...etc. (It's just like quilting...but with wood.) Colors can also easily be changed. Knowledge of making wood barn quilts is recommended as no painting or other directions are included. These are the PDF color graphs only.

I am beyond excited to share my latest labor of love with you! I am a history junkie as some of you know. I love how quilting tells the stories of our history, both personal and as a nation. Every stitch means something to someone and for us barn quilters...every paint stroke does too. Which is why I decided to create a Civil War Barn Quilt Collection for 2017. The Civil War Barn Quilt Collection This collection is a Block of the Month Club for anyone who loves to paint barn quilts. There are twelve blocks in the collection one for each month of the year. The monthly kits are $25.00 (shipping not included). Each Month you will receive a 12" hardwood square prepped for paint, the pattern of the month which includes a history of the block and how it fits into the quilt, and a link to a online class on how to paint your barn quilt. There are three ways to order the Civil War Barn Quilt Block of the Month. You can either order them monthly for $25.00, purchase the year in advance, or order the blocks already painted! For the month of January we are offering a special kick 0ff sale! Simple use the promo code TDBOM at check out and receive 15% off your order of anything in the Civil War Barn Quilt Block of the Month collection. Click on the link to My Shop to order! Union Square Barn Quilt January's block of the month is called the Union Square. I chose this block to begin the Civil War Barn Quilt Collection because of it's name and the need our country had then and now for unity. I am thankful that we live in a country that has so much diversity, and yet we are unified in our purposes of freedom for all. My ancestors came here for this purpose and fought for it during both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Their stories inspire me today. I can't wait to see all of the Civil War blocks that are created by you over this year! I have already pulled colors to paint the collection in a different color way. I'm telling you, it's addicting! Our barn quilts are printed directly on aluminum for maximum durability, both indoors and out. They last much longer than wooden barn quilts and are easy to install. Light weight and durable. These are a modern version of the traditionally wooden barn quilts. Barn quilts are a fun decorative way to add folk art to your barn, shed, house, or any outdoor building. They are perfect indoors too! Ways to hang: We have found the easiest way to hang our barn quilts is with double- sided Velcro Command Strips. They come in different sizes, won’t ruin siding or pull off paint. No holes drilled, no hooks to hang. You can screw them to a flat surface, 1 screw in each corner after pre-drilling holes. Use mirror hooks that allow you to slide the barn quilt directly into the hooks. This way you won’t screw into the aluminum. We show how to hang with mirror hooks in the pictures above. Use weather stripping in the plastic hook to buffer the barn quilt. Not included. If indoors or under cover, smaller barn quilts may be hung with double sided tape/Velcro. If you have aluminum or vinyl siding, consider special hooks made to use on this type of siding.
Hand crafted and painted barn quilt. I use milk paint on solid pine or red cedar wood, and a multi-step aging process to create the appearance of a time-worn heirloom. Each design is made to order. Please Note: This piece is finished with antiquing wax and is intended for display indoors only. Colors used in this piece include flag red, paprika, barn red, mustard/ willow, muted black, green, cheesecake I offer this design in three different sizes. The barn quilt pictured in this listing measures 16" x 16" and weighs between 9 and 10 lbs. Heavy duty hanging hardware is included with each order. Over time, wood stabilizes with the moisture content of the room in which is it displayed. This process may result in some shrinkage along the face of each barn quilt plank. To minimize this effect, I allow time for the wood to stabilize before assembling the pieces to create the painting surface. Even so, there may be some additional movement in the wood over time as it acclimates to your home. Every barn quilt that I create is an unique piece of art, and I believe this stabilization process along with the natural variations in color and aging appearance adds to the intrinsic charm of these “aged” pieces. Thank you for visiting AgedByDesign!

Wood, is one of nature’s bounty that tends to fulfil our needs for something that is both aesthetically acceptable and utilitarian at the same time. Though no doubt a bit more expensive than other materials and requiring a tad more in terms of maintenance, wood still holds its own due to the sheer beauty and hardiness of it. There is no doubt that wood in every form tends to have a beauty that is all its own. For instance, you have driftwood, which is raw beauty waiting to be discovered. And then you have top ideas on woodwork for the satisfaction of working with your hands that can take on a basic or the most sophisticated shape depending on your mood and skill set. However, in this article we are going to be talking of salvaged wood, which is basically wood that is salvaged from various places.
For many years, it has been proven multiple times that good, old wooden things will never go out of fashion. Whether it's furniture, interior decoration, or tools, it seems like these creations sourced straight from Mother Nature have been a timeless presence, and that's not going to change anytime soon.
