Usually when we talk about bugs or insects, we imagine something repulsive and gross, and even scary. Probably more than one of you even has a phobia and can’t stand those little critters. But it might surprise you that there are some bugs that have such interesting forms and colors that you entirely forget they are related to the cockroach living under your sink in your student dormitory.

Chalcosoma atlas — жук из подсемейства Dynastinae семейства пластинчатоусые. Один из крупнейших жуков в мире. Видовое латинское название восходит к Атласу — могучему титану в греческой мифологии[1]. About The Artwork Drawn to organic forms my inspiration comes from nature. As a child I was mesmerized by butterflies and ladybugs, and I liked to observe ants and fuzzy caterpillars. At the same time I was fearful of insects that moved too quickly or might sting. Once I started painting them, though, my fear of certain insects turned into an appreciation of their important ecological role, and to this day insects of all kinds are one of my favorite subjects. Blue Hercules is one in a series of natural history insect paintings with a modern approach. Backgrounds with gradating acrylic washes contrast with the intricately detailed realism of each insect. The art was created using acrylic paint on paper in combination with digital medium. Image size: 11.125"x18.5", Paper size: 16.125"x23.5" Limited edition prints are hand signed and sequentially numbered by the artist. Each print includes a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Printed on 100% cotton, acid-free, Epson Signature Worthy fine art paper using Epson archival pigmented inks. The print comes rolled in a crush-resistant telescoping tube. Professionally mounted on parchment paper with the scientific name and country of origin printed below. You will receive the exact same framed specimen shown in the pictures. Wingspan measures 4.4 inches. Measures 2.75 inches from the top of the horn to the bottom of the shell (not including legs.) I have a smaller example of this wonderful species available in a separate listing. Curious Kingdom has been lovingly crafting our handmade insect frames for over a decade. We have provided these natural displays for nature enthusiasts, museums, and television and film sets. Most of our insects are ethically sourced from farming operations located throughout the world. All of our insect frames are handmade from painted birch wood in New Orleans, Louisiana. I personally prepare each insect one at a time and put everything together here at my Bug Studio in Silver City, NM. All frames come with 99% UV protective glass so you don't have to worry about your investment ever fading. (Although it is a good idea to still keep out of direct sunlight.)
