These are made and assembled here in my small family run shop by me, my wife and my sons. I designed this 2x48 to be an entry level, high quality, affordable grinder. Belt grinders are amazing tools for the knife maker, blacksmith, woodworker, and other crafts men and women. Unfortunately they can be extremely expensive and unatanable for the hobbiest or person just getting into starting a business in one of these crafts. That is what sparked this idea. The Cost of this grinder is less than half of that of a quality 2x72 grinder and this 2x48 grinder has most of the same features of a 2x72 grinder. This is a serious stout grinder that will be a great addition to your shop. Wether you are just starting out, or you want to add a second grinder to your shop without breaking the bank, or you want a portable grinder for demos or shows. I wanted to keep the cost down as much as possible so it comes less refined than more expensive grinders. It comes unpainted (bare steel), welds unground, and it may have edges that you may want to soften. But rest assured everying will be solid, welded stoutly, and function smoothly. All the parts are cut our of 1/4 inch plate steel. The wheels for the grinder are high quality machines aluminum wheels. The Bore for the drive wheel is 5/8 inch and the bore for the other 3 are 1/2 inch. I designed this to be used with the Hercules 1 HP Bench grinder, but it can be used with other brand grinders or an independent motor (BENCH GRINDER OR OTHER MOTOR NOT INCLUDED) IF YOU INTEND TO USE IT WITH A DIFFERENT MOTOR OR GRINDER PLEASE EMAIL ME AT refinersforge [!at] gmail.com to let me know. Package options 1. The complete assembled package which would include the wheels (basically everything except the grinder, some assembly will be required in bolting things together, but everything that needs to be welded is welded). 2. Complete assemble yourself kit, but you weld and put it together (everything but the grinder) Right now these are made to order. Expect 2 to 3 weeks for shipment. here is the link to my videos with the welding and assembly instructions https://youtu.be/0hjqXrlmjsg?si=hwZgJn-jPNKxgkO6 Please reach out with any questions you may have refinersforge [!at] gmail.com

This is my own design for a belt grinder. It can run either 2"x48" or 2"x72" belts and rotates 90 deg for horizontal grinding. The item is a .dxf file and instructions so you can get your own kit cut locally and assemble at home with some basic metalworking skills and tools. This is a very versatile grinder and the design I use in my own workshop. The design is fully keyed with location tabs to make assembly very simple. With the right tool and some experience this grinder can be built in 3-6 hours.

Description The major weakness of most bench grinders is that the tool rests are virtually useless. It is nearly impossible to find one with a rest that is solid and square. The Veritas Grinder Tool Rest can be used with 6" or 8" utility bench grinders and many belt sanders/grinders. It mounts directly to the bench in front of the grinder and can be readily folded out of the way for freehand grinding. The 4" wide table straddles wheels up to 1" wide. It is grooved for sliding jigs and center drilled for rotating jigs. The slotted arms allow a wide range of angular and height adjustments. Spring-loaded gyratory handles lock it solidly in position and can be rotated out of the way after locking. You can easily move it from one grinder to another or quickly remove it from the bench. Accurately machined, anodized aluminum construction. It is completely compatible with the Veritas grinding jig and skew-grinding jig. Included is an angle-setting gauge to set the table to the common bevel angles of 20°, 25°, 30° and 35°. Available as a set with our grinding jig. Made in Canada.

Looking for What Meat Grinder Plate Sizes Should I have? For your vast knowledge read this article and take at a glance idea indeed.
This knife has the feel of a short sword. It is made for a strong arm and a big hand. It is fifteen inches overall, ten-inch blade, and weighs 21 ounces. And it is scary-sharp. I made it from a 16 inch SaveEdge farrier's rasp, knocked an inch off it snap-testing it to make sure the steel was knife-quality. I annealed it at 1500 degrees and let it cool slowly in the kiln, shaped it by stock removal (belt grinder), heated it to non-magnetic and quenched it in 130 degree vegetable oil. Then tempered it for a couple of hours at 350F. It is hard but not brittle. The through-tang is the pointed end of the file, threaded to 1/4-20 and the head of the railroad spike screwed on tightly. The guard is also RR spike. The handle is from a block of stabilized spalted tamarind. Instead of making it round, I left it in a rounded square format for a strong comfortable grip. That's why it looks a little clunky. The seax blade shape (think of a Mississippi person saying "sax") is seen increasingly now in handmade knives but seldom in commercial ones. The Saxons took their name from this blade, the shape of the swords they carried. The sheath is very sturdy, nine-ounce vegetable-tanned tooling leather. Tooled with an oak / acorn pattern and double-stitched by hand. I pressed it when it was still wet, and it holds the blade very tightly. It'll probably loosen up some, but it's a very secure sheath. And pretty.
