Godey's Lady's Book - September 1830
This is a DIGITAL sewing pattern for evening dresses about 1830. Both evening dresses are based on extant dresses and fashion plates of the romantic period around 1830. This sewing pattern contains two bodice options, one with a rounded, the other with a V-shaped neckline and two different sleeve types. Bodices and sleeves can be exchanged with each other as desired. Both bodices will be closed along the center back with hooks and eyes. View #1 is all made from the same fabric, with the pleated bertha from the same fabric attached to the finished bodice along the rounded neckline. View #2 has with contrasting stripes, sewn to the lining along a V-shaped neckline, as well as contrasting piping accents. My sewing pattern #0417 (1830´s Underwear including chemise, corset, corded petticoat and sleeve puffs) provides the required underpinnings. The dresses are fitted to be worn over a corset. Because I love green, and always like time lines of fashion. This is by no means a complete overview of clothing in a certain era, but just a list of my own favorites. 15th century 16th century 17t…
A very romantic and unique piece - this 1860's ball gown is made from a blue, silky cotton fabric with gold thread woven in. This makes the dress very vibrant in dim (candle) light, especially when the wearer moves around. The gold thread looks very precious - just as if it where real gold. Everyone who saw the fabric with thheir own eyes was stunned by its amazing colour and shine! Because of this very special fabric, we chose not to overdecorate it, but apart from that, the dress is very finely made - in our german studio, that means, you won't get a factory-made item, but fine craftmanship instead. The picture of the inside bodice will give you a glimpse of how we work. The bodice consists of three layers of fabric - the top fabric, a firm layer of cotton twill to support it and a fine golden lining on the inside. There are several bones inside the bodice to maintain the typical shape. It is laced in the back, a small underlap prevents your underwear from showing through the eyelets. The skirt has a seam width of 6 metres, without the flounce, which is made of a 12 metres long strip of fabric, gathered to the hem. We have one dress left in stock - ready to ship, in a german size 36/38 (which is approximately US size 10 to 12) - it has the following measurements: Bust: 88cm (35 inch) Waist: 68cm (27 inch) Skirt Lenghth : 110cm (43 inch) Hips: irrelevant for this model - the skirt is wide enough :) It's the last one - we don't have any more fabric to make it again in another size, but - it would be possible to make this gown in a different fabric - in all sizes - anytime. Please send us a message - prices may vary, depending on your fabric choice! We also offer to make the matching cage crinoline and petticoat for you - so you have a complete ready to wear set. The underpinnings are not in stock, the given production time refers to the set with hoop skirt and petticoat - if you choose the dress only, it can be dispatched withing 2-4 days. Just contact us if you have any additional questions or wishes - we would be glad to help you! Powracam do tematu z wczoraj :-) czyli wieczorki i bale przed powstaniem listopadowym (1830r.) Skoro widzieliście przykłady najmodniejszych sukien według ówczesnych rycin, pora zobaczyć jak wyglądały one na żywo :-) czyli kilka przykładów muzealnych :-) Bielizna. Najbliższa ciału koszula, gorset, halka sznurkowa (corded petticoat), halka zwykła. Koszula - chroni ciało przed gorsetem a gorset i suknię przed potem. Gorset - Bardzo charakterystyczny krój -długi do bioder, usztywniany sznurkiem, z szelkami, przodem miejsce na bryklę drewnianą (listewka drewniana). Halka usztywniana sznurkami - (ang."corded petticoat") poniżej link do mojej :-) Corded petticoat by kajani Halka zwykła - między sznurkową a suknię, zazwyczaj zdobiona choć trochę. Spodni rękaw bufka zakończony listewką i mankiet wierzchniego z tkaniny sukni. Wierzchni rękaw z przeźroczystego materiału. W talii szeroki pasek z atłasu, wydłużony w szpic ku górze, z obu stron lamowany złotem lub złożonym podwójnie przezroczystym. Spódnica lekko przymarszczona do talii przodem, tyłem prawdopodobnie marszczona silniej. Rant dołu wykończony wypukłym wałkiem. Garnirunek stanowi przymarszczony przezroczysty materiał o szerokości 2/5 wysokości spódnicy, górą i dołem wszyty w atłasową listewkę, poprzepinany podwójnymi atłasowymi skosami. I ten haft! Stanik dopasowany, z przemarszczonymi ramionami i środkiem przodu. W talii pasek. Spódnica tym razem układana w fałdy. Nie widzę wykończenia rantu. Garnirunek stanowią doszyte na 1/3 wysokości spódnicy kontury listków wykonane z atłasowych ruloników. KTOŚ WIE SKĄD ONA??? 1830 około W końcu solidna tkanina i to w moim ulubionym kolorze :-D Datowana na ok.1830 rok suknia z ciemno zielonego aksamitu. Stanik lekko pasowany, wycięcie niemal w karo oszyte jasną koronką. Na ramionach płaskie owalne kokardy? Ozdobne marszczenie? Niestety nie widzę dokładnie :-( Górą przodu naszyte 3 płaskie fałdy z aksamitu, przepięte broszką. Rękawki krótkie bufiaste, zebrane w listewkę. W talii pasek. Spódnica marszczona w talii. Zdobienie stanowią dwie falbany o szerokości równej ok.1/5 długości spódnicy. Górna falbana z małą główką. Obie doszyte dwiema taśmami, takie same podwójne taśmy podciągają falbany w festony. KTOŚ WIE SKĄD ONA??? 1830 około CUDEŃKO. SZKODA, ŻE RÓŻOWE. CHCĘ W BŁĘKICIE :-D Pasowany stanik, dekolt w lekki szpic. Górą naszyte naprzemiennie szerokie atłasowe skosy różowe i beżowe.
A set of petticoats which creats truly Biedermeier or Romanticism silhouette of 1820s - 1830s. Perfectly needed for 'Wives and Daughters' or 'Jane Eyre' look! The set consists of two skirts. The first one is 1820s-1840s corded petticoat which gives a form to the dress. Made of cotton, has one inch wide girdle and is supported by 44 yards of cord inserted inside the skirt. The second petticoat is made of high quality smooth face cotton satin fabric and is closed on a narrow girdle with a drawstring. It has two rows of wide flounces with batiste frill on each row. Custom copies are available! You may buy one petticoat from the set as well.
Last week I showed you a rather ridiculous (in a practical sense) 18th century riding outfit in white and pale blue-green. You thought the hat was a bit skunk-y, and the lapels a bit rumpled, and the horse just plain un-horse-y, but that overall it was quite something (in a good way) and came in at 8.8 out of 10. This week I present a ca. 1840s dress in rich plum purple silk satin. The dress keeps the embellishment to a minimum, relying on self-fabric piping trim on the sleeves, and an pleated wrap front opening for visual interest. There are some interesting elements to the dress – parts of it are quite fashion forward for 1840, and other elements look backwards to the 1830s. The garment may have belonged to an older woman, who was more comfortable in simple, conservative styles.
Dress 1830 The Metropolitan Museum of Art
The 1830s was a bridge between the gigot-sleeved confections of the 1820s and the tight-sleeved, form-fitting bodices of the 1840s.

Afternoon dress ca. 1832 From Tessier & Sarrou
I’m always reluctant to post ‘Rate the Dress’ images which feature very well known people as I’m afraid that our pre-concieved attitudes towards historical notables sometimes colour our assessment of their clothes. I’m not sure how much of that played into the rating of Marie Antoinette in hunting attire last week, because the most overwhelming response was the one I didn’t expect: total and utter boredom. Sure, it rated a 7.3 out of 10, but most of you couldn’t even be bothered to rate the dress. I do think I should start subtracting a point from any Rate the Dress that collects less than 25 votes, because 6.3 is probably a better reflection of total indifference! Anyway, onwards, and upwards, hopefully to much more interesting frocks! This dress has fascinated me ever since I first came across it, and I thought that the Historical Sew Fortnightly ‘Squares, Rectangles, & Triangles‘ challenge was the perfect opportunity to rate it. For all its elaborateness, the tiers of ruffles in the skirt are just rectangles, and the stripes …
