I built this owl box for Nik for our anniversary. We have lots of Tawny owls locally - I've never seen one but you can hear them most evenings. They are territorial birds so we will only get them nesting here if this box is better than the current roost of the local pair. Hopefully it will be to their fancy and won't get taken over by the squirrels or jays first. A good way of using up the old floor boards from the bedroom anyway. Instructions came from here which is an interesting site if you are into owls. I might try and scavenge some roofing felt from next door for it if they have any left over from their shed build. Should be fun getting it up the tree though...
