Head on over to my all-new website powered by Shopify at www.americanwarriorforge.com These hair pins are hand-forged out of 1/4” round bar mild steel. They feature a decorative curl, reverse twist, and brass brushing. The brass brushing provides a beautiful golden accent on each end of the hair pin. Each one is then sprayed with a clear coat finish. This finish makes the steel look and feel great as well as helps protect it from the elements. Pricing is for a single hair pin. Hand Forged toasting fork with an Ammonite twist handle. Wire brushed and finished with a protective wax coating. The Ammonite twist can be tricky to do as it involves twisting and manipulating metal that has varying thickness and heat. So it is a painstaking and time consuming process so no two are ever the same. Totally handmade in Berkshire each one is unique. **The one shown is approximately 500mm (20”) long but I can make these longer or shorter if required** Please contact me for a custom order made to your requirements

Taking up blacksmithing doesn’t just mean making decorative items. There are many things a blacksmith can make for use around the homestead.
Fire tool set. Made up of different animal head pokers each with a different end. Supplied with a bracket for hanging them all up. Includes a bracket, barb poker, toasting fork and an ash scraper. If you would like some other combination please let me know, tongs, brushes and shovels can also be included. Pokers are approximately 66 cm / 26 inch long. Supplied with four screws I forge in a small smithy in the heart of the English countryside, working with equipment and techniques that are hundreds of years old. I take inspiration from the natural world and enjoy producing highly detailed, textured work which often also has a function. Each piece is wrought from solid steel and hammered out with no mechanical shortcuts or modern tooling. Each product is finished with a traditional mix of linseed oil and beeswax. Applied hot it burns on to the surface giving a slightly darker finish to the metal without obscuring any of the hammer marks like modern paints or finishes would. Because of the nature of my work and the materials used there will be slight variations between products as no two are ever completely the same. The Items I sell are all forged to order, please contact me if you need one for a specific date and I can usually move things around to get it to you in time. International postage will be tracked. Thank you

Modern farm machinery is largely of iron and steel construction, making an equipment of metal working tools necessary if satisfactory repairs are to be made. Forging operations consist of bending, upsetting, drawing out, welding, punching, drilling, riveting, thread-cutting, hardening, tempering, and annealing. Heat makes iron soft and ductile. Practically all forging operations on iron can be done more rapidly when it is at a high heat. Steel will not stand as high a temperature.
Super helpful list of tips for where to find steel for blacksmithing. Also a good rundown of which types to use for which projects.
