A blessingway is a mother centered ceremony that replaces a traditional baby shower and replaces it with a gathering of the closest women in your life. Every ceremony that I have been to has been different and thats what I love about it! My blessingway represented me and what I needed for my journey. I will share all of the particular elements that made my blessing way special to me! A woman centered ceremony in the sizing a woman strength, dignity, and her metamorphosis as she goes through the process of bringing new life into the world... I held my blessingway at the Breathing Space in Sarasota, Florida. I wanted an evening ceremony that evoked a magical feel and couldn't have been more happy with the space. In the invitation we asked everyone to bring a string of their favorite color, a plant that best represents them, a blessing bead, and a dish to share. My dear friend Erin Ernst did a beautiful henna on my belly! We discussed a mermaid (her specialty considering that she's a mermaid herself) and turned out beautiful. I couldn't have been more blessed with the women that participated in this ceremony! Every single one of them made the event special... We started the ceremony by honoring our mothers..."I am Christian the daughter of Gina and the Mother of Ella..." By doing this we acknowledged the mother presence in our lives. It was powerful! Some mothers and grandmothers had passed on so it was amazing to honor not just the living but also thank God for the lives of those that had passed. It was also neat to acknowledge ourselves as beautiful mamas... The ladies went around the circle and tied the string around the laboring candle to represent their blessing during labor.. We did a cord binding prayer that connected us as a community-we took a large piece of string and wrapped it around our wrist, said a prayer, and cut the string. Each mama was left with bracelet around their wrist. That way when they looked down at it they could remember to pray for mama and baby... Each woman was instructed to bring a blessing and a bead to adorn the laboring necklace! Everyone went around the circle and presented their bead and their blessing...it was moving! My laboring candle was lit while I was in labor and it was a huge focal point for me. Everyone left with a candle to light when I went into labor. Talking to some of them after Andersen Wilde was born confirmed that I had a long labor.."I had it burning for so long, I was getting worried..are you supposed to leave open flame if you have to go to the grocery store?" We made a beautiful prayer flag to adorn my birth space! I love having these little keepsakes too. To end the night we had delicious food around a gorgeous night sky and open flame. A HUGE THANK YOU to Ashley Berry Photography for capturing my beautiful event! She has decided to extend an amazing offer to Everyday Axness readers by offering a portrait session for $75 if booked before December 20th!

A unique ceremony to celebrate you on your journey into mothering your first or second or third babe. What is a mother blessing? A Blessingway was a ceremony that came from First Nations American Indians. I do not like to call my ceremonies by the same name as I do not come from this lineage. However I do like to mention them in my work as i find it important that other humans on this earth honoured the Mother in her sacred birthing journey as this is not something that is so common in our modern western dominant culture. My ceremonies are my own Ritual that is curated for you, and by you alongside me and also in collaboration with your loved ones or close friends. I will set up the space and facilitate the ritual aspect and then if there are other offerings your close friends bring we will add them in to the day (e.g belly painting, crafting, bellydancing, creating birth affirmation art) Together we will invite your nearest and dearest asking them to bring along A blessing for you on your birthing journey. This could be a written blessing, a spoken blessing or something unique they've created for you. I also ask that they bring a bead that hold significance to them or their blessing for your birth and a plate of food to share. This ceremony is also different to what we see now in the West as a, Baby Shower, as a baby shower is generally to bring gifts for the baby. A mothers blessing is for Mama. You are of course welcome to have a baby shower too however my passion is in Blessing the Mother. These loved ones who come along will hold you through this journey, through birth and beyond. You can call upon their love and strength during your birthing. After the ritual will craft, sing or dance whatever your ceremony is calling for and then of course we will snack on delicious foods and I will bring a raw treat or something savoury and delicious according to your dietry requirments. *Please when you fill out the purchase details leave your phone number so I can contact you directly. I cannot wait to be a part of your sacred journey.

This invitation is specifically designed for a Blessingway or Mother Blessing. Featuring a beautiful water colour illustration of feather wreath and eggs with in blues and brown on a water color paper background. The Blessingway or Mother blessing is an intimate gathering inspired by an ancient Navajo ceremony called a blessingway. The ceremony is held to prepare an expectant mother for her upcoming birth journey In respect for the Navajo, people from other cultures who derive inspiration from the idea of hosting a ritual similar to a “Blessingway” may use the term “Mother Blessing” to avoid cultural appropriation. This design has two pages, the back page explaining a little about the intention behind the Mother Blessing to guests who may not have attended a Blessingway before. There is also space at the bottom to add your own personal information and instructions to your guests about what you might like them to bring etc. Please see photos for examples or look at my other Blessing Way inviations for more examples and suggestions on wording. You might want to keep all the wording on the back as in the sample or change to suit your needs. So you might also ask. What is a Mother Blessing? Unlike a Baby Shower, which is more baby and gift focused, the Blessingway is a sacred gathering centered upon the pregnant woman, giving her focused nourishing attention and support. One of the key differences between a Mother Blessing and a Baby shower is the Blessingway focuses on bringing a more connected experience to the group of women in attendance. The women form and offer a support system to the expectant mum that lasts well after the Mother Blessing is over. A Blessingway is intended to nurture, nourish, prepare, support and encourage the mum-to-be. A tradition originating from the Navajo Native Americans it is usually attended by a small group of close female friends. The spiritual intention behind a Blessingway is to honor the mother, promote an easier delivery, celebrate sisterhood, and welcome a new baby to earth. It is a ceremony of empowerment and the women offer their support and encouragement for the birth. Wording can be changed to suit. For example you may prefer to call it a "Mother's Blessing" rather than Blessingway and vice versa, depending on your culture. All wording and font colours can be customised. I have recently become aware that the traditional Navajo Indians from which elements of this ceremony is borrowed, prefer we use the term 'Mother Blessing' over Blessingway. In respect for the Navajo, people from other cultures who derive inspiration from the idea of hosting a ritual similar to a “Blessingway” may use the term “Mother Blessing” to avoid cultural appropriation. All orders placed from August 4th, 2018 now include international tracking. Quan Kwan Yin - Fertility Goddess Statue Doula Midwife Gift Mother Earth Sculpture Pagan Buddhist Altar Birth Art Blessingway Womb blessing 14cm Of all the Eastern goddesses, Quan Yin is the most beloved. For centuries she has been the bodhisattva of Mahayana Buddhism and carries the Buddhist aspect of the Divine Mother. This same aspect is shared amongst many forms of worship, examples being the Virgin Mary for Christians; the goddess Isis in ancient Egypt; the Tibetan goddess, Tara; and the notable wives Shakti, Parvati, Radha and Sita of Vishnu, Shiva, Krishna and Rama respectively. Quan Yin is the embodiment of kindness and gives her sympathy, health, insight and fertility to any of us who ask. Her name means "listener of sounds" in that she hears the prayers and cries of the world. Her duty is to bring enlightenment to humans and ease suffering. Eastern custom invokes Quan Yin's blessing on young children and for those who hope to have children, an offering of sweet cakes or flowers is made to her. The theme fertility is common to all cultures of the world. Inspired by the goddess of fertility, these pieces are steeped Symbolism. A feminine figure representing this theme - either sculpted in wood or clay - was always paid homage no matter the culture in question. It is only in our western world that we forget to honour the feminine principle as cultures of old did. This principle was honoured for its influence over aspects such as arable land, vegetation, creativity, family, health, wealth and abundance. By focusing on the Symbolism of the sculpture, tribal members were able to manifest fertility in their own lives. My reproduction sculptures are created from my original, hand cast and hand finished in my studio. They are filled with this Symbolism, created with me paying homage to this principle long forgotten in our modern society. A beautiful gift for a doula / midwife, or as symbolism for bringing Abundance into your life. PLEASE NOTE: Colours on your monitor may differ from actual piece.
