…In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger – something better, pushing right back. - quote by Albert Camus None of these pictures...

Sometimes I feel a little blue & white obsessed… but between you and me? I am totally okay with it. Like that time I used a vintage teacup for those pretty camellia blooms. Or when I set the table with vintage inspired blue & white dishes And when I ordered those pretty blue goblets …

Hello everyone, It is a hot sunny day here so it lovely to have afternoon tea in the terrace where it is shady and cooler. I am using an assortment of my blue and white china today. I am also using my pretty blue and white tablecloth. Spode teacups. Blue & white is always so fresh and cheerful. I enjoyed my afternoon tea time and I hope you did too. Thank you for your visit! Carolyn
This set of 4 dinner plates are in a very pretty Johnson brothers pattern. It is called Indies Blue and it is just the most delicate delft theme to add to your blue and white collection. The ironstone plates have dainty scalloped edges and swirl texture. The transferware decoration features blue flowers, geometric elements and even three little birds. They mix and match beautifully with other blue and white patterns. They are beautiful, high-quality stoneware that will last. I have some sets that are exhibiting crazing and some sets that don't. They are priced differently. Select your preference from the drop-down menu. SIZE: 9 7/8" CONDITION: Gently used. No chips or cracks. Each transferware pattern is individually applied and can vary in color intensity and can show other differences.
Blue and white china is a timeless décor staple that complements nearly any style.

the blue house I just had to share this beautiful transformation with you. It was so fun to design, and to see to its completion. The homeowner is wonderfully creative and knows exactly what she likes. My amazing friend, Shawna Henrie (bleudog fotography), provided the photography - which is why this post is going to be full of lots of wonderful pictures! Enjoy! I will put the before and after photos at the bottom of this post... they are great! I designed new custom mantels for the fireplaces and a built-in unit for the family room - and we got to work with the help of Aldon Thompson, of Thompson Construction. He is magic with fine carpentry. Its easy to see that the homeowner loves blue. Blue and white make her happy. She loves its freshness. She loves how it makes her feel. My job was to help her update and refresh her home. So we painted walls in the living and dining areas Whisper Gray (Dunn Edwards/California Paints) and all the woodwork in fresh clean white. We added a lot of details - like beadboard wainscot and paneled walls and trimmed out windows and doorways. Both fireplaces got a huge remake. The family room fireplace was expanded, faced with beautiful stacked stone and customized with built-ins. The living room fireplace was small and encased in heavily grained oak mantle and surround. We expanded the fireplace to include the whole wall, using the same stacked stone and topped it with a substantial mantel. We accessorized the room with the homeowner's vast collection of blue and white porcelain pieces, her collection of artwork and other items, creating lovely little vignettes about the house. I could go on, but a picture is worth a thousand words.... thank yous to bleudog fotography, Thompson Construction and my sweet client for allowing us to invade her home.... I’m not sure if you’re where I’m at physically or mentally, but here in Kansas City and in my head, I am ready for spring! We’ve had a few days in the 60’s the last several weeks, but today it’s snowing. It’s been a long winter. I’ve kind of taken off the beginning of this year, not making much and really focusing on personal relationships and keeping our home. It’s been a wonderful time for family, friends, and fellowship, but I have been ready to wet my creative whistle again. Last year my friend, Justin, brought me up to where he lives in Des Moines, Iowa to shoot some dresses. It was a fun project and also a great opportunity to work with a handful of the creatives he loves up there. Shelly of Shelly Sarver Designs did the florals, and it was so lovely working with her. She is […]
