Hello everyone, I hope your week is going well. Not that I am complaining but we did wake up to yet another coat of fresh snow over night. With no wind to blow it around, the trees are laden with lots of snow(pretty) but sadly so is our roof and balcony so I am afraid that is more shoveling unless we get a good wind tonight. Anyway, indoors all is cozy and warm and for a change I am using my blue and white transferware dishes in our kitchen/dining room. As usual, I am using a mix of different patterns ~ some of you may recognize my Spode teacups. Love this old pitcher with the sweet little roses. Love this soup tureen from an auction sale several years ago with a platter from a yard sale under it. Some of the china is new like this Skye McGhie Rhapsody plate and tea cup. Some are old like this transferware plate. The tea pot is also Skye McGhie but Rose Brocade. I love this little teapot with the tea cup underneath..I found this at a little shop in Mahone Bay a few years ago.I also have one in red and white. I know.......I am a tea pot addict(I won't mention a dish addict)! My treasure from the 70 mile yard sale 2 years ago. The pitcher was another 70 mile yard sale treasure. So, I am all set for my company tomorrow ~ hope they like blue and white as much as I do! I am joining Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday. and My Romantic Home for Show & Tell Thank you so much for visiting! Carolyn
Hello my friends! Early last spring I had the pleasure of coming across these vintage inspired textiles at a local Ikea, and now these comfy pillow cases (and inserts), and various other linens grace my living room sofa & home! Since I'm quite smitten with their "Emmie" textile line, thought I'd share some inspiration photos with you. These blue toile inspired linens are called "Emmie Land." These are my favorite! I have been shopping at IKEA since my college, apartment, and townhome living days because it was one of the more inexpensive ways to furnish various spaces in our home. And they really have improved many of their items since then, so I still really love to shop there. If you are into the "JDL" look, IKEA is a great place to go for that too. You can mix & match their bed linens for a unique look. I love to pair their "ticking" inspired sheets with their "toile" inspired duvet covers. This pattern above is called "Emma Kvist." Again you can pair the "paisley" inspired sheets with the "toile" ones like below. But if you are into the more feminine, English garden floral look, then you'll enjoy the look of these linens below:" This is called "Emmie Blom." Not only do they have bed linens, but they also have drapes {and even rugs} in the "Emmie" line to strike your fancy. The pattern above is called "Emmie Sot." By the way, many of the duvet covers are actually reversible! ;) If you want, you can pair your floral fabrics with some "checkered" linens - the one you see above is called "Emmie Ruta." ;) The mix & match pillow cushion covers are called "Emmie Stra." You can even get creative like in some of these pink & white romantic inspiration photos below: In addition to IKEA's bedroom linens, they also have vintage inspired kitchen textiles too. As can be seen in their Red & Blue "Tekla" Tea Towels. As well as in their "Evalill" line of Aprons, Dish Towels, Pot Holders & "Tripp" Rose Tin Canisters. Hope you enjoyed these inspiration photos which can be found HERE, HERE, and HERE. Now you know why I love to shop at Ikea! :) They also have really cute "woodland inspired" textiles for children {perfect for little boys}, but that would require a separate post! ;) So if you don't have a local Ikea, you can either visit their online site or you can look for their products on eBay. Have a great day everyone! ;) XO's, Jessie Planning to share this here:

One of my very favorite color combinations has to be blue and white. Together they always look crisp and timeless. My love for the combo is almost as deep as my love for dishes. (How many dishes are too many really?, haha) Perfection when they are combined!! I'm partial to transferware in any color...but blue and white is, of course, my favorite. I have a little collection of random pieces that have been picked up here and there and each one is interesting and unique! You may have noticed a few of them hanging out in our kitchen :) Ginger jars are another fav... Blue and white accessories are complimentary to so many other colors! Especially in a somewhat traditional interior, I can't think of a color scheme where a blue and white ginger jar or lamp wouldn't feel at home. Only slightly off-topic, but I wish you could select the color of the spine of the books that you buy. Does that sound a little obsessive-compulsive?? Wouldn't bookshelves filled with a monochromatic scheme of blue books be wonderful? (This may qualify as only of those things I get strangely excited about, haha) And blue and white covering the walls in the bedroom...such soothing colors to drift off to dreamland. Probably not a surprise that I would love a blue and white wallpaper! Have a great night! xo,

Blue is a beautiful and pure color which we often use in interior décor. We usually associate it with the color of the sea and of the sky but there’s more
I am sitting on the beach… The rumbling ocean and peals of laughter punctuated by the high excited squeal of kids in the wave….and my favorite people in the world flopped out around me …

Hello everyone, It is another beautiful sunny day here and it was a toss up for me whether to do lunch or enjoy a book on the veranda. However, lunch it is and the setting is the Gardener's Cottage today. One of the nice things about these sunny warm days is I can hang on to summer a little longer if I so desire. This beautiful pitcher came from our annual 70 mile yardsale a couple of years ago and it is coming up again not this weekend but next. It has become an annual tradition for us and I always look forward to finding little treasures. There is something about blue and white that always looks so fresh. Once again these dishes have been collected over time and here and there. I love this plate rack as a nice way to display some of my favorite china and the good part is how easy it is to change it every now and then. Hope you enjoyed lunch in the 'cottage'. Tomorrow I have more pretty blue and whites for you. I am joining Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch. and My Romantic Home for Show and Tell. Thank you for visiting if I rush I might still squeeze in a few minutes on the porch with a book before I do a photoshoot tonight with a couple of little ones. Take care, Carolyn
I KNOW I'M NO BETTER THAN ANYONE... BUT I'LL BE DAMNED IF THERE IS ANYONE BETTER THAN ME.

Sometimes I feel a little blue & white obsessed… but between you and me? I am totally okay with it. Like that time I used a vintage teacup for those pretty camellia blooms. Or when I set the table with vintage inspired blue & white dishes And when I ordered those pretty blue goblets …
