We stitched up these fun fabric balls with100% cotton fabrics and stuffed with scraps of cotton fabric which gives them heft and a firmer structure. The patterns are inspired by early American stencils and Civil War fabrics. They are perfect fillers for bowls and baskets. They can also be used as toys for children and pets. They are delightful to hold and toss around! Each ball measures 3 ¾" in diameter. Handmade right here in Massachusetts by the Bean House.
I came across a RARE and tattered 19th century finely detailed quilt piece which I have repurposed into a super primitive cat/kitten pillow. I added a heart patch on the front in contrasting red & beige, 2 vintage 'eyes' and whiskers for the largest cat. This is the rarest of rare quilts. I will make other pieces, but the rarity of this quilt demands that I make each piece different. This ultra rare quilt is continued on the reverse for the largest piece in this set, which makes it more costly to handcraft. This quilt is quite old- it displays many layers of quilting and ancient batting with contrasting stitches. I cut through the layers to display this technique. Although it is tattered and well-worn, it still has such a lovely coloring that is perfect as a primitive cat/kitten. The reverse for the largest cat is from the same quilt. I added a jute bow. The 3 smaller bowl fillers are rare green quilt appliqued onto a pretty timeworn yellow quilt with reverse cutter quilt pieces, as shown. This cupboard shelf sit primitive kitten will compliment any primitive, farmhouse, shabby cottagecore or farmhouse inspired rustic decors. It also would make a thoughtful statement gift. You are invited to a tea party! I am a big fan of tea and changing their flavors, discover new ones and collect favorites! One day I was drinking one and thought that the paper used to make them is super strong! It stands very well the heat and keeps it`s shape while in the hot water! Most papers disolve in the water and specially when hot so I decided to give it a try and work with these tea bags! It is so much fun to discover that everyday things can be transformed into creative endeavors! Here is what I did: After use, I left them to dry alone, this will give them some beautiful aged color, then I removed the tea by cutting one edge, carefully removed the thread and now they are ready to work with them! Tip: Use the removed tea for your plants and garden! I`ve stamped on them with permanent ink adding two or three layers of different stamps, I think black looks wonderful for it gives a nice contrast but why not trying other colors? I just love them! Simply like this, they can be used to make beautiful seasonal cards! Then I thought: Why not make some cute tiny pillows with them? So I filled them with a little stuffing! I also though I could add a drop of a nice scent and place them in a bowl to add a nice touch in a corner. Then I`ve tried sewing them, this has to be carefully done but they hold! In some cases they started to fall appart but I added a coat of medium on those parts and voila! Write beautiful sentiments on them! To end, I added a cute iron on embellishments on gold and used my pen to add some accents and voila! You could make tea bag ornaments with them! These bowl filler pillows measure 5 inches square. The background is off white with an orange nose, button eyes and x’s for the mouth. Set of 3. CARE Wool felt cannot be machine or hand washed or dried. It will shrink. You could spot clean anything that is not coffee dyed. If the coffee dye gets wet it will spot. I use a lint roller on mine to clean.
