Welcome to a fresh new week friends! I tell you what, I've had about all the lazy snugly days I can handle for awhile and I'm really thankful that we are back to our normal routine today. I'm a homebody by nature but even I've had enough. Can you tell by the title of this post and all the pretty laundry room inspiration pictures that we have just started to freshen up our laundry room? After living with a really blah and non-functional space for the past year and a half I've realized that it's time to bite the bullet and make it a pleasant and useful space. Our laundry room is off the kitchen and has an exit to the outside so it potentially could be transformed into a mudroom as well one day. Currently it's got the same dingy walls we inherited (can you believe this is the one room we never painted when we moved in? And we clean our clothes in there.) We also shoved a giant metal shelving rack in their to help with storage but all it left us with was a big hot mess of a room that didn't really serve any good function. It became a dumping ground. You know, that room where you close the doors when some one stops by. It's time to change all that. There is really only but so much you can do with a laundry room because it's probably one of the few spaces in your house where function over form just has to happen whether you like it or not. And who wants to blow your budget on and over accessorize a room that really just needs to be useful. I love how each of these rooms isn't pretending to be something it's not yet they are all so lovely. They make that daily chore just a bit more tolerable. I'm really excited to whip ours into shape this week!
Happy Friday! This week started with a plan and a list of things I wanted to accomplish. But as typically happens, that plan was taken out of my hands and "altered." Needless to say, things that I wanted to get done didn't see completion. The downside of working part time as a substitute teacher is that when you most need an afternoon to snap some pictures and finish a DIY, you are called in unexpectedly to teach. But there is no sense in complaining, especially since it looks like those circumstances are going to continue into the upcoming week. So, posts may be a little sparse....Or maybe I'll surprise myself and get everything done. I guess you'll just have to wait and see! On a brighter note, the weather looks like it will be warmer next week. It will be in the thirties! That's not warm but when the temperature has been hovering around 5, thirty is quite balmy. I'm dreaming of spring with green grass and sprouting flowers. Something tells me that I still have a little wait for that, though. As much as I wanted to avoid putting this post together this week and take nap after a day of working with first graders, I'm pretty pleased that I forced myself to just get it done. So many of my problems in life come from putting things off until the last minute so I'm trying to change that. I'll let you know how it goes. I hope you have a great weekend. In Auburn, Alabama a commercial building with a multifarious past begins a fresh chapter for a young family after a modern renovation.
When I was in 6th grade, I was invited to a birthday party at a really cool house. I had never seen a house with an outside on the inside. I was fascinated. Yesterday, my daughter and I were surfing the net looking at real estate when I noticed my classmate Olivia's house was up for sale so I decided to try to create a court yard house that had all my essential elements. With 2831 square feet, this is one of my bigger houses. I chose to make the bedrooms fairly large so that intergenerational living would be fairly easy, but the bedroom wing of the house could easily be sectioned off to accommodate another bedroom or two. The master bedroom has direct access to the inner courtyard as do the family and living areas. The large laundry room opens into the master bath, featuring a garden tub and a large walk in shower. The family room can be opened to the kitchen with large double doors, or hidden from view if entertaining guests in the formal living and dining area. Of course there is a large pantry and plenty of closet space. The court yard itself has endless possibilities ... a hot tub, small pool or pond, enclosed with a skylight roof, or no roof at all ... Hope you like it! God Bless You All! ~Grama Sue

A laundry room is also one of the important rooms in your house. It is also a room that needs the best design so you can feel more comfortable when you do your laundry. There are many things that you can do to beautify your laundry room such as organizing laundry baskets, using a decorating theme, etc.
