When Keith McNally, the man behind some of New York City’s most beloved restaurants, took on a Cotswolds house, he had no idea what he was in for
As our time in Munich winds down, I am hoping to spend as much time in the Alps as we can, with days spent hiking amongst the wildflowers and swimming in the beautiful Alpen lakes. Sounds idyllic, doesn't it?? I hope it will be - you never know with children along! I'll keep you posted. :) Anyway, I was in that frame of mind when I looked through some German edition Elle Deco (as it's called here) magazines recently and came across several versions of beautiful Alpen homes. My preferences definitely lean toward urban design, but I thought these were something I could definitely handle! Here are a few shots that I thought were worth sharing: If you're going to go rustic alpine, I think this is the way to do it. The lighting, textured pillows and edgy table keep it fresh. A modern, clean take. The title of this article was "Chalet Goes Zen" - I agree! I love this type of table in any setting and here is no exception. Loving the nail head trim for some sophistication that also plays well in a rustic setting. The porcelain on the table is all from Nymphemburg, explained below: This piece, with similar pieces shown on the table above, is from a 260-year-old Munich manufacturer called Nymphenburg. Most of the pieces are too traditional for my taste, but I really like these. What kid wouldn't want to jump into those bunk beds? I think I could even convince grown-ups to sleep in these! I love those gray wool blankets and the ladder - truly Chalet Chic. The sourcing guide. If you want any sources, let me know and I can translate for you. :) We're off to the Alps for the day tomorrow so I'll be back on Monday!
This Fixer Upper had such a sweet couple and Chip and Jo did an incredible job, especially with the curb appeal! The carriage style garage doors really pop next to the updated front porch. All pictures found here on Magnolia Market.
