deVilles and Fleetwood Broughams received an exterior refresh in 1980, supposedly taking the aerodynamics level from that of a cinder block to a brick. A more formal roofline now graced these. Sevilles changed radically from 1979, joining the E-body Eldorado, Riviera and Toronado. It also featured the controversial "bustleback" design, supposedly borrowed from the Daimler-Hoopers. Power was "new", now coming from a 6.0 liter 368ci V8, rated @ 145 horsepower in the DFI variant in Eldorado and Seville, and 150 in the 4 barrel carbed Fleetwoods and deVilles. Power was put on the ground by a THM325 for front drives, and by a THM400 for rear drives. As for other engines, in California, Olds 350 fuel-injected gas V8s were fitted to the Eldorados and Sevilles for emissions purposes. An Olds 350 diesel was offered accross the board, and standard on Seville for this year. It was not available in California.
