I had a few customers and team members tell me that they often get frustrated understanding measurements for their card making so I decided to try and help. measurements and increments of measurements can be tricky to grasp more so when we work in inches. I will say right away I have a Youtube video linked just below where I visually go through this...so if like me you need to see to understand then click the link and watch. So we basically use either CMS or inches to measure when we are working in paper crafting. CMS are units and each of these is split into ten smaller units called Millimetres. We have 100 centimetres in one meter. Inches are more complicated.... So we have a length called a foot here instead of meters. Each foot is made of 12 inches and each inch is divided into 16 parts. Now mathematically these inch measurements fall into fractions and here is where some people get confused. If you look at the photo above for example where we would think we have 4 lots of 16 it becomes re named to quarter 1/4. And where we see 2 lots of 8 it also becomes a quarter 1/4. So it helps to learn basic fractions first and get them in your head right to understand your measurements. I also advise sticking to one set of measurements and those being the ones you are used to. I can tell you that 1 inch is roughly equivalent to 2.5 CMS .... but past full inches it becomes tricky so here is a link to a measurement converter for you to use. Book mark it and keep it safe use the arrows to change what unit you wish converting and hey presto MEASUREMENT CONVERTER I hope some of this helps again I do have a visual explanation on my YouTube so grab a brew, get comfy and enjoy the video. One of my team members shared a card like this in our Flowerbug's group and claimed it was so easy she's making lots of these cards. I loved it so much I had to find out how she made it! I learned how by watching the creators video; her name is Julie Heitz and she goes by the Chirpy Cardmaker. I shared how to make it during last week's Live video. The products used include the pretty Softly Stippled designer...

Amy Tan's new Signature Series book is a smashing success! Every page is eye candy and filled with inspiration from corner to corner. I had the opportunity to include a layout and a "PaigeBook" in Amy's book. I used only supplies from Amy's Ready Set Go line, naturally! HOME IS WHEREVER YOU 3 ARE Journaling says: No matter where we are in the world, whether near or far, as long as I am surrounded by my family, that is where I call "home." It's true - "home is where the heart is" and there's nowhere else I'd rather be! I love you all! How to: Start with a cream floral background. Trim squares from patterned papers, trim them into triangles, then cascade them down the top of the layout; stitch a line through each row using a matching color of thread. Tear a house page from a Daybook, back the heart and door with patterned paper and a "love" die cut, and hand stitch around the heart die cut with yellow floss. Place the house on the bottom of the page and add a photo on either side. Create a title above the photos, embellish with stickers, an accordion paper flower, journaling spot, and more. Supplies: Cardstock, patterned paper, stickers (ampersand, arrows, hearts, houses, letters, number), accordion paper flower, die cuts (arrow, flower, sentiment), date stamp, pen, adhesive: American Crafts; Floss: DMC; Ink: StazOn; Square punch: Fiskars; Sewing machine: Brother; Thread: Coats & Clark ********************************************************************** REMEMBER & SHARE THE LOVE PAIGEBOOK DAYBOOK This is a 5x7" handmade book with a copic style binding so it lays nice and flat when opened. Every signature is made with Ready Set Go patterned papers and colorful matching cardstock. I incorporated charms, knick-knacks, doodads, and Ready Set Go matte puffy stickers turned into charms into the binding. The front is embellished with a bunch of Ready Set Go stickers and embellishments. I stuck these on with major super glue to ensure they'll stay put forever and a day. I have a tendency to make books and not fill them up with anything, but perhaps I can use this book for a form of "project life" or make my own version of a "smash" book. Check out these projects and DOZENS more in Amy's book! Since I want to be Amy when I grow up, maybe one of these years I can have a Signature Series book :) A girl can dream right?!
These borax crystals are SO COOL and beautiful! Use pipe cleaners and a simple borax and water solution to grow your own crystal gems. This is such a pretty and fun science experiment! Borax Crystals Making borax crystals is such a cool science experiment. It takes a bit of patience to let the crystals grow, but the results are amazing! Borax crystals are a great chemistry experiment showing the recrystallization process. Kids can see how molecules react to different temperatures, and literally see changes in matter as the crystals form. Try growing your own borax crystals in whatever shape or

Don't let the intricacy and kaleidoscopic beauty of a marbleized design fool you. Those ripples of color may look hand-painted or machine-stamped, but they're actually created by liquid.
Here are 2 more cards using the sketch that I found on Norine's blog last year. I'm looking towards spring already, so I used some sweet pastels on these ones. supplies: white, pinks, yellows and Green Apple cardstock, dps from Echo Park Spring Dots & Stripes and Spring Dots & Stripes Gingham pads from 2018, The Greetery Sunflower Botanicuts dies, Hero Arts leaf die, (retired) Winnie & Walter hello die What I most liked about Norine's card was her use of ginghams and dots in 2 sizes, and I've again followed suit for these cards. It helps that I have 2 older Echo Park paper pads in my stash that coordinate nicely with each other. Here's a yellow version. supplies: white, kraft, yellows, and green cardstock, dps from same pads as above, The Greetery Sunflower Botanicuts, Hero Arts leaf die, (retired) Winnie & Walter hugs die I've used this sketch before, first HERE for an autumn card, and HERE for a winter one. And I plan to do a summer version when that gets closer. Thanks for your visit today - have a great one!
Another card for the My Favorite Things Camp Create. This card is for the day called Delightful Die Cutting. This is the badge for it: SO...I have this thing about throwing perfectly cut paper strips into the trash. After you've cut the Striped Sentiment Strip die a few times you have a bunch of strips: Somehow I had an idea to weave these strips into the die cut piece. If you cut the die three times you'll have plenty of strips to do the top and bottom. After I had them all woven I turned it over and added a drop of glue at each end of the strips to secure them. (Wish I'd thought to take a few photos of the steps!) I just love the basket weave effect of this! I used the stamps and dies for Beautiful Blooms and Twice the Thanks for the other elements. For the thanks and the vase I used Hero Arts Ombre Tide Pool to Navy ink and blended the ink onto the paper for the ombre effect. I used the same on the stems along with Lime to Forever Green. I had to have some shine and sparkle so I pressed my VersaMark ink pad to the Thanks and the vase and added clear embossing powder. A few clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh finishes it up. I always am so appreciative for you taking time to look and to leave a comment! :)
