Tales from Silver Lands by Charles J. Finger Illustrated by Paul Honoré Doubleday and Company, ©1924, 1960s printing Awarded the Newbery Medal in 1925, the author collected these 19 stories and folktales from the indigenous people of Central and South America. The tales provide remarkable insights into regional values and culture of the time and present stories about animals, magic, witches, giants, and other beings. Paul Honoré, an important American printmaker, muralist and illustrator, created dramatic woodcuts for this collection. Jacket flap notes identify this edition as a printing of the late 1960s. Tight binding and unblemished lightly yellowed pages, price-clipped dust jacket shows light yellowing and light chipping along the top edges and spine. Four full color full page dramatic and colorful woodcuts as well as several black woodcuts throughout the text.
