Ceramano was founded in 1959 by Jakob Schwaderlapp, who also started Jasba. The company was created to provide higher-end art ceramic pieces to complement the less expensive, mass-produced Jasba lines. Ceramano pieces were more like studio ceramics, as they were of better quality and were sometimes more experimental. Although most companies used molds to speed production, some Ceramano pieces were made by hand. Many of the bases of Ceramano vases are hand-marked and include the name of the decor (style/line). The principal designers, although there were others, were Hans Welling and Gerda Heuckenroth. You might remember from the previous post in this series that Heuckenroth also designed for Carstens. In the 1970s, as studio ceramics lost their popularity, Ceramano bought the Waku Feuerfest Keramik factory in order to step up their mass-production, but this venture proved unsuccessful, and the company closed in the 1980s. Note: I encourage you to go to the websites I cite in this series. They do a much more thorough job of providing information on each company, as this series is meant only to be an overview. On those sites, you will find a wealth of specific information about designers, decors and production methods. This is a very rare 'Burgund' decor vase, designed by Hans Welling for Ceramano, West Germany circa 1960s. Ceramano was founded in 1959 as an off shoot of Jasba Ceramics, to produce experimental art ceramics in the 'studio pottery' style. Hans Welling was their key designer and this piece is characteristic of his style. Using wax resist and sgraffito motifs in abstract patterns surrounding the body, in organic layered light brown tones, with a contrasting blue interior. A very stylish classical form, a handled jug vase, with elegant proportions and angular handle and spouted rim. Would make a fantastic addition to any collection of West German, Fat Lava, European or art pottery and would complement any retro, vintage, midcentury, modernist, minimalist, 1960s, or contemporary styled interior. In excellent condition. Measures 20 x 10 x 10cm / 8 x 4 x 4in. Handmarked to the base '207/2 Burgund Ceramano W. Germany Handarbeit'.

The vase in the video will be the exact one you will receive! A striking West German Pottery vase by Ceramano, with decor `Royal`, made in the 1960s. This lovely vase is simply decorated with a speckled, textured cold white glaze with a dark inner glaze. The top of the vase has a "crown" intricately formed with eyelets and pointy tips. The vase has a very round belly and is quite lovely to hold. The Ceramano factory was founded in 1954 in the German town of Ransbach-Baumbach. It produced generally higher, studio-quality ceramic pieces. The underside is marked by hand with the identifier 251. ❖Condition: This vase is in perfect condition. Please note that I use strong lighting to help highlight the maximum amount of detail of each piece. As each piece is bathed in such strong lighting conditions, the on-screen effect will possibly make the item appear lighter in colour and tone. Your piece may look slightly darker in more natural lighting conditions. ❖Dimensions: Maker: Ceramano Form: 251 Height 10cm Diameter 10cm Weight 262g www.curialvintage.store ❖ For detailed shipping policies, please click on my FAQ’s from the main page or under the “Shipping and Return Policies” - “FAQs” on any item’s detailed description. Fat lava vase by Strehla, E.Germany 60s - 70s Lava glazes that amaze The Lava glaze ceramics of the 60's were an extension of the Bauhaus design concept of creating affordable decorative arts for mass consumption during the middle of the 20th century. The manufacturing process was simplified with the use of pottery casting molds and the application of a diverse variety of glazes by the enamelers and glaze technicians. This was combined with applying integrated craft procedures to produce large numbers that maintained an aesthetic appeal of high quality. The first 'lava'glaze appeared in 1967,
