This is from a series of posters I made for revision of the characters in A Christmas Carol. They each display quotes that would be useful to revise for the UK's GCSE exam. This one is of The Ghost of Christmas Past. I printed some out in A4 for my students but they look pretty good in A3 as eye-catching wall displays. Alternatively, they can be used within lessons in a number of ways: edit them to display some quotes and/or some traits, leaving students to fill in the missing ones; ask students to link each quote and/or trait to a theme; ask students to create a similar version of a character you have not shown them. I will be uploading Scrooge, Bob Cratchit & Tiny Tim, Fred, Jacob Marley and the ghosts of Christmases Present and Yet to Come, so please look for those if you wish to have the complete set. Other sets available soon: Frankenstein; Blood Brothers; Romeo and Juliet; Macbeth; An Inspector Calls; The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Please get in touch if there is a series of characters and quotes which you would like me to make. As long as it will sell on here, I am happy to put the time in to making them.
Whether you watch a classic or find something new, there's a Christmas movie for anyone on this list.

A Christmas Carol, based on the book by Charles Dickens, combines traditional ballet and captivating theatre to tell the story of Ebenezer Scrooge and his magical night with three terrifying ghosts. Colourful sets and costumes by Olivier Award-winning Lez Brotherston conjure up a traditional Victorian Christmas, while the festive score blends classical music with carols, played live by Northern Ballet's Sinfonia and sung by the dancers. Here is how the final illustration looked in my version of A Christmas Carol.
Familiar lines alone don't re-create the magical, morality-driven adventure that Charles Dickens published in 1843, and left to the ages. That narrative flickers between bright and bleak aspects of human experience, both personal and social.

Cette année, pour Noël, je vous emmène à la (re)découverte du conte de Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol" (Un Chant de Noël). Gare aus fantômes !
It started in October 1843 when Charles Dickens wrote one of his most famous and best-loved books, A Christmas Carol. Today many think of Dickens as the creator of our modern Christmas spirit. Coca-Cola gave us the red-coated Santa and Prince Albert…
Christmas Carols are proving ten a penny this festive season.
Happy Friday! Awhile back at an estate sale I bought this vintage Christmas carol booklet. I just fell in love with that adorable santa and that pretty holly font. There is something about 50's fonts and graphics that I adore! It was published in 1953, and I am thinking these were maybe given out to customers at the Security-First National Banks? How neat would that have been! A few months ago I saw this tutorial from the Dutch Sisters on how to crochet pretty scallops around Christmas cards. I have been meaning to try it, so when getting all my Christmas decorations out, and some inspiration from my dear friend Gina who was going to make some with cards, I thought these sweet carols would be perfect. I intended to do a pretty garland with them, but have decided to make them as gifts for Christmas. I still need finish making a hanging loop for each them, and if I have any left over, I still might make a Christmas Carol garland. How lovely would that be! I copied the carols onto heavy card stock, and then followed the directions from the Dutch Sisters. If you would like to give a try, you can print this carol and just follow the tutorial. They are so pretty when finished, and would even look cute as ornaments, too! A few months ago I was working on a couple of secret projects and I am so excited to share them with you today! In September, Tasha from A Little Sweetness came out with her adorable line of fabric called The Simple Life. She had sweetly emailed me asking if I would be interested in making a couple of items to be displayed at the fall quilt market using her new fabrics and embroidery patterns. It was definitely an easy, yes!! I was beyond thrilled and so honored to do it!! The first project I made was a mini quilt using her embroidery pattern called, "Laundry Day". I did a little hand quilting and adorned it with soft pink crocheted scallops. I adore the redwork, and it was actually my first time doing a pattern all in red. I loved how it came out! The next project was a pretty apple pillow, like the one I made for fall from the Bustle and Sew e-magazine. Tasha's fabrics were the perfect match for those sweet apples!! I had such a fun time creating these two projects and it was so neat to see them being displayed at her beautiful booth, which you can see some photos here. Also, to see more of Tasha's sweet patterns and illustrations make sure you head over to her etsy shoppe and blog! Thank you Tasha for giving me this amazing opportunity! :) Wishing you a most lovely and creative weekend!!

Forget Tiny Tim Cratchit - there are two other child characters in Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol that, for author Chris Priestley, are far more powerful: Ignorance and Want. Here’s why

One of my all-time favorite books is A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens. I didn’t always like it. In fact, when I was much younger, I pretty much hated it. I felt like it was over-commercialized and overused during Christmas. A few years ago, while listening to an audio rendition of the book, I heard something that I felt like I had never heard before... The 'Hidden' Message The passage comes from that pivotal moment when Ebenezer Scrooge meets the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley. Marley, now a chained and tormented soul, is lamenting the opportunities he

A Christmas tradition for many is caroling, or at least it used to be. Have you ever had the fun of going out caroling at Christmas time? When I was in my early teens a group of neighbors did that and it was such fun and really put you in the holiday spirit. Its such an old fashioned thing to do and has such tradition, two things that seem to make it a good thing this time of year. We all had tiny songbooks to follow along to make sure we knew the words to each Christmas carol. If you want to create a songbook, you can do what I did last night. Martha Stewart (of course!) has an easy to make songbook for Christmas Carols on her website. The link to the Songbook will be at the end of this brief post, if you are interested in creating one for yourself. The reason I came to search for "how to make a caroling songbook" was because of my mother in law, Claire. She loves music! Above you can see us all dressed up to enjoy the Boston Holiday Pops orchestra, with their wonderful Christmas program. Music is such a nice part of Christmas. The Boston Pops at Symphony Hall Boston Symphony Hall, decked out for their Holiday Pops show. Just yesterday, Claire asked if we could sing some carols at our Christmas party. I know that her own traditions of celebrating had her aunts and uncles and parents and children all gathered around a piano on Christmas eve and there they sang Christmas Carols. Its easy to picture that scene, isn't it? Claire herself played the violin and the cello, and her father was a piano tuner, so musical ability ran deep in this family. While I can't play more than chopsticks on the piano, I can belt out a carol or two. Martha Stewart's instructions on making a Christmas Songbook here.
