Next for Whispering Brook Cottage is a coat of paint. Beth requested an aqua color with the lavender door. It's a bit hard to capture the soft aqua and lavender on camera though. All the bricks and stones have been done with premixed concrete and painted. Next, a bit of aging on the walls, vines and yards. And it will be all done. I just wanted you to see the house before the final touches. You would never think the little details like aging would make such a difference in the end product. But it adds so much character. hugs,

I called this newest dollhouse "In Tatters". It's another shabby chic style. This one has a little terrace to sip your morning coffee. I love the French style number above the door. They are Tim Holtz in the scrapbook area. http://www.michaels.com/tim-holtz-idea-ology-mini-plaquettes/10514419.html I added roses and leaves on the door. Paint over them with a few coats of paint and it looks like wood carvings. I used roses by Tim Holz. I usually make my own but wanted to try these out. It worked! Here's the link to them: http://www.hobbylobby.com/Scrapbook-Paper-Crafts/Embellishments/Flowers/Tim-Holtz-Cream-Heirloom-Roses/p/154805 The wires, battery and push switches are inside the chimney The fireplace has a working fire. The artist studio has plenty of light with the two huge windows. I did my "tin" ceiling using the hot glue technique. These are tiny seashells I collected in Florida. This is my favorite style of house to make for sure! This house is available in my Etsy shop. Okay back to work on more projects now. I'll see you very soon with a dining room set I've been working on.
This is Landhardt House finished. This dollhouse is 22 3/4" across x 15 1/2" deep x 19 1/2" tall. The colours of the exterior are cream, taupe, white and pink for the flowers. This was a special

Finally, my first post of 2018! Are you ready for an awesome year? My first freestyle project this year(not commissioned) will be Maison Francaise. This will be my signature type of French style town house. With a plaster exterior, whites and greys throughout. Just like my previous house Under Paris Roofs. I had a lot of requests to make this one again. So here goes. I start off by using 2 sheets of hardboard. I use hardboard because it's nice and straight, no warping! I bought a ready made door and stairs. I cut out my design with a scroll saw. I use the one below. It's not perfect. There are things that are annoying about it. Like the tightening knob to hold the foot in place keeps undoing. And the blade is hard to change. But it is a very affordable saw. And it does the work. Attach the structure together with hot glue. I found the ultimate hot glue gun! It's by Surebonder. You can get it at Hobby Lobby. It is incredible. I was looking for a new gun when I stumbled on this one. It was new. I hot glued Christmas lights around my real doorway(on steel and on bricks). The lights withstood everything! After Christmas, I had a very hard time getting them off the house. Lesson learned! Use tiny bit on real house... But to put your dollhouse together forever- this glue gun works! I use hot glue sticks from Joann's. But any will do. By the way, I don't get paid by any stores or brands. All the materials you see are purchased by me. There's no fake reviews. I try to let you know what works best or what I find out there that can work for minis. And if you are on the fence about building a dollhouse this year- just go for it! You will love being able to make your vision come to life. Start with a small kit. Like the Primrose. Just to learn the scale and how things are put together. Then you'll be ready to jump in with both feet! And remember there are no rules. Whatever you decide to do and however you do it is the right way! big hugs and the best year ever to all,
I built a little cottage called La Maison de Ville . It's adapted from the Ballerina Studio. This was a commission from Stephanie. This one is a cream color. Ballerina Studio was more on the yellowish side. This one has a full upstairs as well. The door is a bluish gray color. This house is 19 3/4"(50.16cm) tall x 12 3/4"(32.38) deep x 11 1/2"(29.21cm) across. I love this side of the house. There is something so country and charming about it. I trim all my windows with Popsicle sticks. Stephanie wants the interior all white and ready for her personal touch. The interior rooms are 8"(20.32cm) tall x 11"(27.94cm) across x 10 1/8"(25.71cm) deep. I decided that ladder stairs were the best option for this house. They can be easily removed to work on the wall treatment in the back. With 3 windows, the upstairs is nice and bright! The battery and switch are in the chimney. This photo reminds me of a Paris roof. Thanks for coming over and visiting La Maison de Ville! I'm working on my next book on building a french mansard dollhouse. So far I have the house cut out. It goes very slow. My objective is to make sure things stay clear, simple and easy to understand. I hope you are all having fun too! And here's a photo of Gigie my baby Ragdoll! Photo by Sophie Dupuis She turned 3 months on the 6th. She is completely potty trained! I wasn't sure the first few days I had her. I kept looking to see if I saw anything in her litter pan. At first she didn't do much. So I was thinking she was using a secret spot. But no. She is such a good girl. I have never had a cat that loves kisses and hugs before. She is quite independent. But she still makes time for cuddling. Thank you for all the sweet comments about her. I'm so surprised so many of you know ragdolls. I had never heard of them before. This is the good part of life! I'm glad God brought her into my life. I hope all of you have good things happening as well. If not, just know great things are coming. So hold on a just bit more. ♥

A new design! This is La Maison de la Marquise. It's a custom dollhouse I made as a commission. This dollhouse is 22" across x 15 1/4" deep x 21" tall. The exterior is mostly plaster. This will be a kitchen area with French doors. Downstairs is 20 3/4" across x 8 1/2" tall. I used pre cut pieces of wood to make the entry tile. Here is the kitchen space. I put the window high enough so a sink could fit under. Upstairs had to have a separating wall. It did make the 2 rooms tiny. But it still works. I tried furniture (in the photos below) and it does look very cozy. This could be the bathroom or bedroom. it measures 11 7/8" x 4 3/4" x 8 1/2" tall. This side has the stairs so the space is 6" overall but 3 1/2" to the left of the stairs. It is workable space for a single bed or a daybed. Now here are some photos of my furniture and space try. I hope you have enjoyed your visit. Thanks so much for coming by!
Voila Paris! custom dollhouse is a perfect little interpretation of a romanced Paris home. This house is 15 1/2" deep x 16 1/2" across x 20...
Wishing all of you the best year ever. May 2017 bring you everything you ever desired! Thank you so much for all the visits here on my website. I truly appreciate everyone of you! :) Now onto 2017! My next house is almost finished. I'll be sharing photos soon. All the best and very big hugs♥,
This is the final part for building your dollhouse! Upstairs, I added the last 2 chandelier. I pulled all the electric together upstairs and hid it in a chimney. The chimney is made of 4 pieces of cardboard. Everything got covered with concrete I applied with an artist spatula. This is Dap's Ready Mixed Concrete. The chimney has little rocks added to it once the concrete had dried. I just drop these little mounds of concrete and shape them into rocks so they are 3 D. The bump out is covered with clapboard I bought at Hobbylinc. I also made a little vent with craft sticks and clapboard cut into narrow little pieces. I carved cornerstones while the concrete was not set. I wait about 5 to 10 minutes to do this. If the concrete is too wet the lines just disappear. To carve the lines I use an old X-acto knife. The roof got a little trim made of craft sticks. I put a little trim on top of the chimney to finish it off. I painted the clapboard white and the stucco(smooth concrete) a very pale shade of purple. It's so light you can just get a hint of the purple hue. Now the roof. The main part of the roof is shingles. To color these shingles I make different paint "baths". Here I have some grey tones, brown tones and darker brown tones. Just add some paint to water in a container. You want just enough paint mixed in with the water to show up on the shingle. Something like 1 tablespoon of paint to a cup of water. It's a color wash. I covered the porch roof with a piece of cardboard. This is so you won't see the wire under the fabric piece that will be my awning. The stones on the foundation are painted greys and creams. The corner stones are white. The bump out roof is "metal". This is actually cardboard (those gift boxes that are white on one side and grey inside) cut into strips. They are about 1" strips on the bottom. And each seam is covered with 1/4" strips. Paint grey, silver and age with white. The awning is a striped fabric. I glued it onto the roof with Aleene's tacky glue. I added flowering vines to the house. These vines are from Hobby Lobby: http://www.hobbylobby.com/Floral-%26-Wedding/Bushes-%26-Garlands/Garlands/Green-Baby%27s-Breath-Garland/p/8668 The Flowers are here: http://www.hobbylobby.com/Floral-%26-Wedding/Floral-Stems/Purple-Statice-Spray/p/1850 To fit on the house just cut the vines and the flowers into little pieces and glue on with hot glue. My hot glue gun is a high temperature/professional glue gun. I had also trimmed the awning with wood pieces to look neater. For the front yard, I used sand for the walkway. This is the sand you put to with candles. I applied a generous amount of regular white glue. Then I poured on plenty of sand. Tap down to make sure the sand is in contact with the glue. Once the glue is dry tap off all the excess sand. The bushes are air dry clay rolled into balls and left to dry completely. I then paint them green. I use Aleene's glue to glue on moss. Let that dry completely and then you can use scissors to trim and shape each bush. For the grass I use a moss mat. It already has a sticky backing to it. I make templates of the places I want to cover with grass and cut the moss mat. Here's the sticky back. Voila! I added a little fence and more flowers and plants in the yard. And the house is all done and ready to be moved into. The finished front yard. You can now make this house into your dream cottage with all the furniture and accessories of your choice. I hope you will try to build your own house now that you see it's not that difficult. Lilac Cottage is for Jennifer. Thanks Jen! hugs♥,
And now Whispering Brook Cottage dollhouse with some character added! I tried to photograph the aqua house and lavender door. But it does not really show up well. The aqua looks more like a light green on the photos. The house is 18 1/2" tall x 17" across x 18" deep. There is just a touch more blue in the green that does not really show up in the pictures. The aging is done with brown ink pads. You can use hard bristle brushes to get into tiny space. The medallion above the window is by Melissa Frances. The number above the door is a Tim Holtz plaquette from Michael's. It's real metal and a good size for 1/12 houses. This house is a commission for Beth who loves Cath Kidston. So I kept the exterior and interior nice and simple enough in the color temperature. Nothing too wild. This way everything will fit perfectly together. No matter how many colors or patterns are introduced. I already saw a peek at a table going in here. It's going to look marvelous Beth! Thank you for coming and looking at this project! I'm on to the next commission for Tracy. Have a great week! hugs,
Weekend Chateau dollhouse is done and ready to ship to her new owner Debbie. I actually got the name of this house from one of Debbie's messages. She described it as a weekend chateau and I thought that would be a perfect name. This dollhouse is just like "Somewhere in France" which I made a couple months ago. There are a couple of changes here and there. The house is 26 3/4" tall x 22" deep x 23 1/2" across. I tried adding a little porch roof over the door and a longer porch floor that stretches end to end. That's a Melissa Frances embellishment crown over the door. The interior is slightly less distressed. This is the bedroom. Debbie sent this chandelier. I slid a lightbulb in the middle of it. Looks gorgeous! Can you imagine this attic filled with old stuff! The next project is for Kellie. It's a Christmas theme! hugs,
We're done with "Somewhere in France" dollhouse! This is a commission for Sharon in Australia. This house has a long trip home! This house is 24" across x 24 1/2" tall without the chimneys. The chimneys are a couple of inches tall and are not glued on for shipping. And it's 21 1/2" deep + 3" or so for the front porch floor which is also not glued on so the house can fit in the box. This is a side door into the kitchen. Living room with working fire. Entry hall. View from front door towards the back. This is the kitchen. Upstairs. This is the bathroom. All the windows open. Door into the bathroom from hallway. Upstairs hallway. The bedroom with all opening windows. The massive attic! No time to rest on our laurels! We have Roberta waiting on her commissioned dollhouse! See you next time! hugs,
This dollhouse is 1/12 scale. It is entirely handmade from scratch. No kits are used. This dollhouse measures 13" side to side x 14 1/2" front to back x 20 1/4" tall. The interior downstairs: 12" across x 12" deep x 8 1/2" tall. Upstairs is 12" across x 12" deep x 8 1/4 tall. This dollhouse is available at www.cinderellamoments.etsy.com

Wiltshire Cottage is my newly completed dollhouse. This one is totally English in style. The front porch area is really typical of those stone cottages you see in Europe. The house is battery operated. It has a front porch light, a living room chandelier and working fireplace, a kitchen chandelier and pantry light, a bedroom chandelier, a bathroom chandelier, a studio chandelier and 2 attic lights. There's a mix of stones and bricks on the facade. All in very muted tones. All made with premix concrete. This house is bigger then my usual little cottages. It's 25 3/4"(65.4cm) across x 25 1/2"(64.7cm) tall x 17 1/2"(44.5cm) deep. The left side is stucco and shingles. And the right side has vertical siding. Inside, I have not glued anything down. I used Simply Tacky to keep everything in place. In the living room, I made 2 upholstered chairs, a sofa, 3 little tables, a chandelier, artwork, rug, glitter houses. There's a roaring fire too. The curtains are stiffened with hairspray. The little closet under the stairs has a working door. The kitchen is all decked out with cabinets, range, table, chair(the only piece purchased in this kitchen), shelves, food, utensils and a fully stocked pantry. Everything in the pantry is glued down. There's also a working light in the pantry so you can see the food. Right up the stairs is the bedroom. I painted a blue dress, made a white bench chair. I made a double bed since the space was so big. There's a primitive style bench made from scraps of wood, a hand painted rug and a little hat box. On the other side, I built a little desk from a kit by The House of Miniatures. Next to the bedroom is the bathroom. I bought a tub, sink and toilet. I painted the toilet seat pink. I added a bathmat and sink rug. No bathroom would be complete without toilet paper! I squeezed in a little studio to get all those art projects done. The attic has plenty of old junk like TV, Christmas decorations, toys... There are 2 lights in the attic and .... a little mouse. Thank you so much for coming over and visiting Wiltshire Cottage! It's been a pleasure having you. Wiltshire Cottage is available for purchase in my Etsy shop.
I wanted The Sweet Life dollhouse to be a super cozy place with lots of vintage charm. To welcome you home, I made a little front yard. This house is 18 1/2" tall x 15" wide x 14" deep. I made little pavers out of concrete. Use water to dip your knife or spatula to shape your stone. It will help things not stick. Same principle as icing. You can find all the materials I use on the 'resources' page. It's hard to see in the photo, but that's a crystal in the door knob. I used real chalkboard. This is a paper from the scrapbook section that has chalkboard finish. You can find the links to all the vines and other vegetation on my 'resources' page. I just cut everything into little bits to look to scale. As always, I hide the battery and switch inside the chimney. These shingles are from Hobby Lobby. They get dunked in a little bath of paint and water, glued on to the roof, and then white is applied for that extra bit of charm with a dry brush technique. I never use measurements or grids to put my shingles on. It's all done by eye. If you measure you will get a very sterile look. Come on in! I made the wreath with moss and the Heather flocked flowers. The door has stained 'glass' done with a product called Gallery Glass(Hobby Lobby). Inside, I made 2 crystal chandeliers, a lace armchair with matching footstool, a mantel, hutch, table, bed, bedside table, artwork, rugs and curtains. The chairs are from Hobby Lobby. I painted and aged them and added lace cushions. That little hutch is also from Hobby Lobby. With paint it looks wonderful. I added all the little accessories that I made myself. I did the ceiling using my hot glue technique. You draw a pattern on cardboard. Outline everything with hot glue. I use a professional glue gun because it gets hotter. Then cover with a thick layer or two of paint and age with ink pads. I used stair spindles to make the legs of the table. To age it, I used ink pads. I found the tiny sand dollar on the beach in Florida. I got the wallpaper off the internet. Just type in what you are looking for. For this one I typed purple floral wallpaper. Then find a site that shows enough of the pattern so you can easily match it up on the wall. I think the entry looks very vintage! I used ridged corrugated paper used for scrapbooking. This one was from Michael's craft store. All the curtains get sprayed with hairspray while pinned into position on a piece of cardboard. Allow to dry completely(or use a hairdrier). Then you can remove the pins and the little folds stay in place. I found tiny little teal roses(they're beads) that I used as candleholders for my chandelier. The loft is a little bedroom with oodles of pillows on the messy bed. Thank you so much for coming by and taking the time to visit The sweet Life. I appreciate you!! This cottage is available in my Etsy shop : www.cinderellamoments.etsy.com hugs♥,

I called my new custom dollhouse La Couturiere. This house is a fresh mint color with a lilac door. The house measures 20 1/2" high x 14 1/2" deep x 13 1/2" across. The colors of this house were very hard to photograph. The colors are very soft and feminine. The door is not so purple but more of a sophisticated lilac. And the mint is also subtle. It's really very shabby chic. I made the little wreath and tiny white and pink roses using a hole punch in the shape of a flower. I think I used 6 flower shapes for each rose. The door knob is also a rose. It's a bead on a small box fastener. Turned out magical! I put a little bicycle in the front. Just back from the market! I was able to get these tiny stains on the back of the curtain. I used hairspray and cardboard. I sprayed the cardboard down with a large amount of hairspray and put the fabric on top. Let dry. When you lift the fabric up it picks up some of the cardboard fibers. Just a little to look like very old stains. Downstairs is my sewing scene. I had the sewing machine and dress form left over from another project. I decided it would look great in this house. The ironing board was not complicated to do but it was hard to get those legs even. The interior doorknob is another rose. The legs of the table are stair spindles. I love making baskets. I poke wires into foam board and start weaving cotton twine. Then I use Modge Podge to stiffen the whole thing. The base of the basket is wood that I add then paint and done! This is a hall tree I made after seeing Miniatyrmama's potting bench. It just inspired me! I've made tons of mushrooms before. But the orchid is my first. I took the instructions for them on a gum paste tutorial for cakes. Worked! The bed is a very soft green. It's aged with brown and gold. I saw the design for this cage on Pinterest. The original birdcage is by Veronique Lux. I just had to try to make one. There was just photos of it for sale on Ebay. So I guessed the materials and size. I made the little bird with yarn fibers. The swing really swings. Well, that's another house done! I'll get to work on that mailbox tutorial for you guys. It's another simple project that adds so much charm to a dollhouse. See you then!
This is Promenade Dollhouse. It's a custom dollhouse I made from scratch. This dollhouse is 20" tall x 13" across x 13 1/2" deep. For this house, I went with a very sophisticated palette of grays accented with crisp white trims. The vines are from Hobby Lobby. Please check my "resources" page for links on products I use. The trellis is bass wood veneer I cut into thin strips. The shutters came from the Primrose kit I used to use when I first started building dollhouses. I made the little garden with an iron fence, more vines, Heather sprays of flowers and roses I made myself. I glued down sand(the kind used for candle fillers) using simple white glue. There's a white wash on the pine Popsicle stick floow. That's just regular white paint thinned down with water. I decided to leave the interior completely white. I love the rustic look of the uneven floor boards. It gives the house so much character. I got the little birdcage from Hobby Lobby. It's a section with embellishments near the scrapbook isle. It was a brass color to begin. I dunked it in the white paint can and let it drip dry. This puts a thick coat of paint on the object. Then I put a little light inside and covered it with vines and roses. There's also a light above the front door. I tried out a french door handle. I did this by sticking a piece of bent wire into a bead. Then I painted the "enamel" part with nail polish in layers to get a thick look. I then painted the rest with black enamel paint and aged it with maroon acrylic paint. I hope you are all having a wonderful Spring. And that all your mini projects are coming together with ease! Thanks for stopping by! This house is available in my Etsy shop: www.cinderellamoments.etsy.com hugs♥,
I've finished another house. Ma Jolie Maison will be going to Diane's. Thank you Diane! This house is 15 1/2" deep x 16 1/4" across x 21 3/4" tall. The exterior is an old weathered white color with silver roof. The front door has it's own porch light illuminating the 3 steps. This cozy little entry stoop would look marvelous with oodles of potted plants. The stones and bricks are all done with concrete. The little white fence will keep the little garden private. I used a moss mat as my grass. All the links to my vegetation and all materials are on my resources page above. The exterior is all plaster. It creates a wonderfully smooth texture. Downstairs is 8 1/2" tall x 15 1/4" across x 12"deep. Upstairs is 8 1/4" tall x 11 7/8" deep x 10 3/4" across. The lights and fire are controlled by 2 push switches in the chimney. The batteries are also hidden here. Thank you for visiting today! hugs,

Here is another new dollhouse. This one is called Grace Cottage. This whole dollhouse idea came from the color of the door- it's a muted pink color. I saw someone painted their 1:1 door this color on YouTube and it sparked the ideas. The planking is birch siding. The floors are Popsicle sticks. The stone work is all done with ready mix concrete you can find at the hardware store. Moss is a must! I bought molds to make all my trim pieces including this medallion piece. A window box is necessary for a timeless romantic look! Inside I used a wallpaper with a rose background. This is paper I find on Pinterest. If you need ideas head to my Pinterest board called Pretty Paper. I love plaster walls with bricks peaking through. It's fabulous character in a little house. Again I used the same clapboard siding as the exterior of the house. And added picture molding. The beadboard here is from the scrapbook section of the craft store.
A dash of Whimsy for your home! Cottage and shabby chic styles mingle to create a truly romantic look! 100% handmade and original! In a world full of mass production, hand made is the one true luxury." anonymous
I made a shop/shop keeper's cottage for Jen. It's called Hart and Bear's Shabby Shop. I made this house entirely by hand. No kit. I use wood from Lowe's. I draw out a plan and cut everything out with my Dremel Trio. But if you don't have all the cutting tools, do use kits. I did when I started out. You can customize any kit very easily. Even the cheapest kits can look extraordinary. And it's a great way to teach yourself scale and how to make minis. Jen's style is very sweet and very romantic. Lots of roses, lots of lace, lots of cuteness. Easy! :) The porch has a bike, clay houses and a box filled with old treasures. Notice there's a big sale going on! The flower boxes are filled with moss and mulberry paper roses. There also pink Heather in there. I get the vines and Heathers from Hobby Lobby. I just look for things I can cut down to mini size. The roses are online. Just type 'mulberry paper roses'. I added a piece of molding under the porch. Extra cuteness! Adding bunting banners makes a really big difference. It just ads an incredible amount of whimsy. I always struggle to make my dormers straight. But I think I finally got it! If you are a novice, you can buy dormers already made. The shingles are pine. Another chandelier on the side porch. Super romantic! The siding is birch. A view of the pink underside of the porch. And inside! The shop keeper's bedroom is upstairs. I made a dollhouse, half round table, chandelier and dollhouse bed/bedding. I painted the chair with a faux seat cushion. It's a very romantic bedroom with the pink polka dot and roses wallpaper. The 2 dog paintings are Jen's Bear and Hart. Downstairs There's a working fireplace. I made more houses to put everywhere. Another banner on the mantel. The armoire in the back is filled with fabrics. The ceiling is covered with textured scrapbook paper. I was going to make an all lace chair. But when I was looking for more lace for the cushions I happened to lay the chair on the pink check fabric. Instant LOVE! Had to change my plans. I covered a whole lot of little books with printed papers from the internet. I usually like to put beds in my shops. But it was weird having one bed up and one downstairs. I happened to have a stove left from my dollhouse vintage stove tutorial. I tried it out and it occupied the space perfectly. The curtains are a piece of white cotton fabric and one piece of sparkly sheer fabric. I rolled the end up. Then I sprayed it with a fabric stiffner. Hairspray works perfectly. Then I added pink and white baker's twine. Paper roses I made with tissue paper add a finishing touch to every window. In the middle of the shop, I made a round table. The base is a wooden candlestick holder I think?? And the top is from another table I pulled apart. On top I put a bigger house covered with concrete. I wanted it to look like something for a yard- a bit rougher looking for contrast with the other smaller houses. I also painted the rug. I use a thick canvas used for book binding. I hope you all had your sugar fix with this super sweet house. Now I'll get back to the Tranquil Nordic Retreat in the next post. See you then! hugs♥,
La Maison de thee de Marie Antoinette is a 1/12 scale custom dollhouse. For this one I wanted a sophisticated and feminine look. So I thought a house where Marie Antoinette would have had her tea and macarons would be adorable. Here is the result: Here is a closeup of the battery and switch system I use for the lights and fire. These flowers and greenery are from Hobby Lobby. They are regular size florals. I just look for some that I can cut up into small pieces when I'm shopping. I hope you enjoyed the photos and that it has inspired you. If you are interested in this house it is available in my Etsy shop: www.cinderellamoments.etsy.com
We're done with "Somewhere in France" dollhouse! This is a commission for Sharon in Australia. This house has a long trip home! This house is 24" across x 24 1/2" tall without the chimneys. Door into the bathroom from hallway. Upstairs hallway. The bedroom with all opening windows. The massive attic! No time to rest on our laurels! We have Roberta waiting on her commissioned dollhouse!
