Die um 1390 entstandene Burg galt als eine der festesten des Mittelalters und widerstand allen Angriffen.

Who would have thought a fairy-tale castle could really exist in reality.Have you seen Cinderella castle in Disney World? Magnificent huh? Guess what? Cinderella castle was actually inspired from the Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany.Walt Disney got inspired when he saw Neuschwanstein, one of the castles that he used as inspiration to create Cinderella castle in Disney World.Sleeping Beauty castle in Disneyland is also based on the bavarian castle with some french inspirations.Wow wee.. Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany I'm not gonna write much about the history of the castle but instead I'm gonna enlighten you all with some of the interesting facts on the Neuschwanstein castle. The castle was initially known as New Hohenschwangau Castle. But after the death of King Ludwig II, it was renamed Neuschwanstein which means "New Swan Stone". King Ludwig II was the owner of the castle. Before the castle even nearing completion, he was declared mad, then arrested and removed from the castle. He was then found dead few days later with mysterious cause of death. The designer of the castle named Christian Jank. He wasn't an architect but actually a theatrical designer. The castle took 17 years to build, with about 200 – 300 craftsmen working on site every day. The amount of building material was enormous with 513 short tons of Salzburg marble, 1710 short tons of sandstone, and 400,000 bricks. Many items in the castle have the shape or picture of a swan which is the king's favourite animal. Neuschwanstein castle is one of the most famous tourist destination in Europe, having about 1.3 million visitors per year, with number of visitors in summer being as high as 6000 per day. The castle was one of the finalists in the selection of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Neuschwanstein is one of the most photographed castles in the world. Remember the road trip I was on? The actual plan was to go from Duisburg to Ulm to Biberach and back to Ulm before going straight home.Hee..but we did a little detour.Detour means to deviate from using a direct, usually shorter route...So we terhegeh-hegeh took the longer way and were heading towards south, nearing the border between Germany and Austria. It was a last minute plan to go to Neuschwanstein but it was a great decision and visiting the castle was the highlight of our road trip.Yeah! Heading to Königsschlösser (King's castles) We bought a group ticket to go into the Neuschwanstein castle.English tour guide came with the ticket. You'll see the tour number and your entry time on the ticket. The castle background behind us is the Hohenschwangau castle. You can find two castles here in Allgau. One is the Neuschwanstein castle and the other one is named Hohenschwangau castle. The distance between the two castles is about 1 hour by foot.So we only chose to enter the Neuschwanstein castle. The views of the surrounding before taking the bus or horse-carriages towards the castle. You have three alternatives to reach the castle.By foot which will take about 40 mins, by horse-carriage which will be romantic but pretty expensive or by shuttle-bus,the cheapest and most practical way to reach the castle. We took the shuttle bus, each person paid 1.80 euro.Advantage of taking the bus is that it'll stop at Mary's Bridge, where you'll get a magnificent view of the Neuschwanstein castle. You'll then have to walk for about 15 minutes before reaching the castle from Mary's Bridge. Signboard showing the castle and it's surroundings. Mary's Bridge The view of Marienbrücke ( Mary's Bridge) from far Gayat ke x...cam-whoring moments mesti ada... Did you know there is a Cinderella Castle Suite at Magic Kingdom Park?
A Schwering walking tour that you can do on your own. Discover a fairytale castle in and more in this charming German city.
For those of you who have saved the dreamy castle pictures on Pinterest, this one is for you! Located outside of Munich lies some of the most beautiful and enchanting castles I have come across. I have traveled to many countries and seen plenty of castles, but the creator of the ones on this tour is all about the whimsical and fairytale feeling you experience. Take the real Cinderella Castle Tour in Munich Germany! On the Tour: Neuschwanstein Castle Oberammergau Palace LinderhofThis was not cheap but I planned for it in my budget. If I remember correctly it was around €70 a person which included transportation, guided tours of each location, a traditional Bavarian beer, tickets to both the castle and palace, and snacks!Neuschwanstein CastleI was and am especially in love with the Neuschwanstein Castle which is what Disney based his Cinderella castle on. Seeing it in person was a bigger fairy tale than I had imagined. Majority of the walls in each room are dedicated to actual fairy tales such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Tristan and Isolde, Sleeping Beauty, etc. Each room has a different theme and quality to it.Some of the best views can be seen from Neuschwanstein! You can take a look outside on one of the balconies to see the mountains, lake, and neighboring castle Hohenschwangau. That castle isn't on the tour since it is still somewhat in use by the royal family who is allowed to reside within it. They aren't a ruling royal family, just descendants of the monarchy and can only stay in certain castles that weren't given to the people of Germany. In order to get the famous side picture of the castle, there is a pathway to Mary's Bridge which can get you this vantage point. The bridge was closed when I visited, but you could still walk up to it and take a picture without walking across. This being why it's called the Cinderella Castle Tour Guide!OberammergauAlso on the Cinderella Castle Tour, you will head over to the town of Oberammergau. This small town also has a fairy tale quality to it seeing as their houses and building. The building all depict different fairytale stories. Oberammergau is not just famous for its charming esthetic but for making elaborate clocks! They have so many on display and for sale in town. It really is a beautiful and unique gem to visit in Germany.Palace LinderhofFrom Oberammergau, the tour heads to Palace Linderhof. Also built by King Ludwig II and even though it's a smaller structure, the detail and beauty are magnificent. This is where he spent most of his time and had several smaller lodging areas on the grounds. He was obsessed with swans and kept them on the property which they still have in the pond today. Each castle on the tour was built by King Ludwig and had a different aesthetic to each of them. I can tell you without a doubt that you won't be disappointed to go on this tour. It really is a fairy tale to see in person. For those on a budget save for this because it's worth seeing up close! I hope that this could help in making a decision to take this enchanted adventure in Germany! For more on what to do in Munich check out my full guide Sightseeing Munich On A budget. Living so so close to Walt Disney World has it’s perks. We’ve had season passes on and off over the last four years and I would guess that we’ve visited the parks about 75 times. One of our favorite spots is Cinderella’s castle, especially at night, for the firework and light show. Castle Facts: Built:...
