!! CROCHET PATTERN ONLY !! !! THIS IS NOT A FINISHED TOP!! Perfect for someone that knows the basics stitches but wants to make something a little more interesting like creating a texture and learn how to make cute embellishment like flowers and butterflies. It's also a really fun project if you are looking for crochet stitches that look more modern and that don't look like the traditional crochet, I think it´s the perfect top to make anyone confused on whether its crochet or knitting ahah This pattern has written instructions and pictures to complement the harder bits like the flowers and butterfly which are made all in one piece. Materials needed are simply: Hook needle Yarn (you ca use any, from lace, DK, Worsted and thicker, in the photos the white top is made in lace yarn, and the purple in worsted, both in cotton) Tapestry needle I only used 100grams for what it is an equivalent to a size XS - S. Yes, you read correctly a complete top with only 100grams and I was able to make the top in 1 day.! It´s a made to measure pattern and the instructions are given for a size XS / S (32C /34B bra size) or you can simply allow around 5 cm per each size up or down for other sizes. As you can see in the pictures I prefer minimal coverage, but it’s something you can easily adapt to your preference to cover more or less on the sides and make it longer or shorter (the major benefit of made to measure patterns). I explained everything so you can understand why you are doing certain things in order to utilize the techniques as you wish. Hope you love it as much as I do. It’s my favorite top of this summer after besides The Shell Top☺️ I would love to see your finish product so please tag me on social media - @freakyforyarn Designed by Ana Rodrigues of Freaky For Yarn. I have made so many Hudson pants over the years that I could sew them in my sleep. I have found that every year I need to make a few new pairs for me or my kids and I often batch sew them so I can cut and sew multiple pairs in a fraction of the time. I will say, don't batch sew them until you have made a couple pairs first and checked the fit, but once you have that dialed in, batch sewing is a great option. I often share my batch sewed Hudsons on instagram and get requests for the process so I thought it would fun to sew up three pairs of Mini Hudson pants for my kids to show you. You can definitely use the womens and mens patterns as well when batch sewing since the instructions are identical for all three, I just happened to need mini versions this time around. For fabric I used three beautiful colors of french terry and matching ribbing from I See Fabric. They offered to gift me the fabric to try out and I thought this would be the perfect pairing. I am very impressed with the fabric. Gorgeous, on trend colors that are hard to find and the fabric is super soft and feels like great quality. I've already put in another order on my own dime. OK, let's get sewing. Because I am batch sewing them I forgo coordinating thread for my serger. I put gray in and used it for all three pairs. If you are using your sewing machine you will want to do the same thing for your thread. You still need matching thread for the buttonholes and topstitching, but we will wait til the end to switch those out. Next we sew all of the pockets. Start by ironing the pocket bands and then following all steps for pockets. At the end, line your fronts up like so to make sure all is good and you have a right and left for each . Now, take each back leg and sew up the outer and inside seams and line them all up again. Take each right and left leg and sew up the crotch seams as the instructions say.. Then line them up. Let's finish everything else we can before we need to use our coordinating thread. Start by sewing up the cuffs. Turn them right side out and fold them in half. Give them a press. While at the iron, go ahead and apply the interfacing to the waistband to prepare for the buttonholes. Put the waistband aside and sew each cuff on. Now it's time to switch to your matching thread. I only put it in the top (not the bobbin) to make it easier, but that is up to you. You are going to finish each pair of pant at this point, switch out the thread, and finish the next. I am going to do my pink pair first by sewing on the buttonholes. Next I sew the waistband on, insert the elastic, and then finish by sewing the drawstring topstitching on the waistband and adding in the drawstring. Finish up your other pairs and that is it. Much faster than sewing them each up individually.
The Joan Tank is a tank top with bustier like topstitching details. It's named after Joan of Arc because of the armor like design. VIEW A: - RACER BACK TANK TOP; - SCOOP HEM; - TOPSTITCHING WITH BUSTIER SHAPING; - TIGHT FITTING; - CROPPED LENGTH. VIEW B: VIEW B - STRAPPY TANK TOP; - FULLY LINED; - TOPSTITCHING WITH BUSTIER SHAPING; - TIGHT FITTING; - CROPPED LENGTH. FABRIC REQUIREMENTS 1.40m x 0.65 m - All sizes FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS Stretch jersey knit with 50% stretch. TIP: Fabrics with 8% elastane content work perfectly for this pattern as it ensures that the fabric will have enough recovery. NOTIONS - Ballpoint needle; - Ballpoint twin needle; - Matching thread (looks great with contrasting thread in the topstitching as well). The pattern is available in English and it includes: a PDF pattern you can print at home for US letter or A4 and A0 if you'd like to print at a copyshop; step-by-step illustrated instructions (If you're having doubts at a specific step there's a video that accompanies it). The pattern is currently available in the sizes 0 to 16 US. I’m aware of how not size inclusive it is but I’m still learning about drafting for bigger sizes so please bare with me! After purchasing, you can find the link to download both the pattern. After that, just print it and get to sewing! Have fun! *for personal use only. *this is a digital pattern so you won't be receiving a physical copy of it.
I love that collared shirts are in style. They are versatile, comfortable, and can easily dress up a casual outfit. Unfortunately, however, I don't have many. And most that I do have are too short for today's style. So I decided to hit the local thrift store in search of men's shirts (so they'd be nice and long) to alter to my needs. Here is the man-shirt pre-altering. I bought this on half-off at Goodwill for $3. Pretty big and shape-less, huh? But it has good arm length and fun, unusual pockets, so I was hoping for some potential. It's important to choose a shirt that isn't way too big in the collar or arm-length because those are not easily altered. Now on to the altering process. It is SO quick and easy. If you are a sewing rookie, this would be a good way to get your feet wet. 1. Turn the shirt inside out and flatten along the seam on the inside of the arm and torso. 2. Use chalk to draw a smooth line along the seam the amount you'd like to take the shirt in. Blend the ends of your chalk line into the existing seams prior to the cuff and base of the shirt. If you are unsure of how much to take in, lay a shirt that fits as you would like this one to, and trace along that shirt's outline. 3. Cut along the lines you drew. 4. Lay the piece you cut out from the first side along the opposite edge to use as a guide to draw another chalk line. 5. Cut along the chalk line. 6. Pin the edges together, being sure to line up the cross seams at the armpit. Sew the new edges closed, blending into the existing seams at each end. I used a serger, but if you don't have a serger, a zig-zag stitch outside your first straight stitch will help prevent fraying. Here it is all sewn up, but still inside out. It actually looks like a woman's shirt now! Now I have a "new" shirt! Go thrift-store shopping or raid your hubby's closet and enjoy! Participating in these link-ups
