A wonderful asymmetric assembly, a succession of narrow, flowing spaces. Stairs will showcase your books and favourite objects in a very graphic manner. Beautiful from all angles, it can sit proudly in the middle of a room. This open structure plays with volumes and light, bringing a surprising depth to your space. By combining multiple Stairs columns, you can create a uniquely designer item and even create an architectural room divider.
About Original Ptolomeo is the free-standing bookcase that doesn’t require any further presentation: it is simple, revolutionary, innovative, as sudden as an intuition and as surprising as its success. Original Ptolomeo is a container that hides its shape to enhance its content, eliminating the “superfluous” to highlight the essential, namely the books. The bookcase is a simple metal column to which thin shelves, also in metal, are attached. The shelves gradually disappear as the column is filled with books. When it is full, Original Ptolomeo becomes totally imperceptible and it appears as if the books are standing up on their own. Designed by Bruno Rainaldi, winner of the 2004 Compasso d’Oro, Original Ptolomeo stems from observation rather than from a formal process and translates an idea that is as simple as it is ingenious, i.e. transforming a pile of books into a design object, into a furnishing accessory. A bookcase that is as “banal” as it is bold, so as to become a contemporary icon, a harmonious piece of art. Like all pieces of art, it is autographed on its base with the designer’s signature. Available in three different heights, Original Ptolomeo rests on a solid base - in stainless steel or lacquered metal co-ordinated with the frame - suitably studied to ensure its full stability. Slight, tall and essential: it takes up little room and can be placed in any context, from the more traditional to the more contemporary, also thanks to the different finishes (black, white, stainless steel or corten effect) that allow it to adapt to all kinds of environment.
The Sapiens Bookcase is a legendary contemporary space-saving idea. Instead of committing to an over-extension of lateral space, why not just use limited vertical space, and make it elegant? Grand 19th Century Dutch Renaissance Open Bookcase will make an impressive statement in any room! Soaring over nine feet in height, it is topped with a grandiose crown which includes multi-tiered crown molding with step-front corners that appear over the clockwise & counter-clockwise barley twist columns that serve as corner posts. Underneath the crown molding is an intricately sculpted bonnet centered with a Romanesque urn and lavished with foliates, all carved in full relief. Flanking the bonnet are two full relief carvings of noblemen, which appear above the aforementioned barley twist columns, in between which appear two extraordinary Corinthian capitals. The overly generous bookshelf space provided contains four original adjustable shelves, each of which is reinforced to handle weight. The fifth surface is the floor of the piece, bracketed by the columns' plinths carved with foliate motif, leading the eye down to the multi-tiered base molding and bun feet. What a magnificent way to display one's books, collection or objets d'art! Circa 1880s Measures 110.5H x 74.5W x 19.5D less
