Credit: Malaysian artist Qistina Khalidah, who you should all go check out immediately Female Fighters Lady Lancers Nonbinary Knights I have a ton of folders of collected artwork for D&D inspiration. I was just thinking to myself that they could make for a good post. Why not start here? I hope you like women in armor, because I have many digital binders full of 'em. This collection skews towards European knight aesthetics because I'm a hack. Feel free to correct that in the comments by contributing more pics. I've tried to credit everyone. This isn't exhaustive or anything, these are just the pieces I've come across over the years that I enjoyed enough to save. This one goes out to all the thirsty lesbians reading this blog. If it's popular then I'll do more of these posts (but with different subject matter). Let's start off with some William O'Connors. Let's get a couple Wayne Reynolds in there, too. I wish so badly I had a better quality copy of this image. It comes from this DM screen that Reynolds illustrated for 4E D&D: Anthony Foti did a couple more illustrations of that same fighter: But you really can't beat the original version by Dante Gabriel Rossetti (one of the big Pre-Raphaelites and a poet to boot. Although it was his sister Christina who wrote Goblin Market so she forever beats him at that). What's that? You want more art of Joan of Arc? I'm glad you asked! Credit: Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres. Simple and elegant execution of "armor + dress" for the woman warrior look Credit: August Gustav Lasinsky. Also features some excellent-looking NPCs. Credit: Albert Lynch. Okay I don't love the TERF bangs but I really enjoy the Art Nouveau style. This isn't a portrait in a museum or gallery. It was the cover of a magazine. When you think of it as a piece of graphic design, the artificial and lifeless composition instead reads as symbolic and iconic, like a stained glass window. Bonus points for the French lilies. Credit: Henry Scheffer. Every paladin and cleric should aspire to replicate this scene. Credit: John Everett Millais And then, possibly my two favorite Joans: Credit: Gilbert Anthony Pownall. Almost certainly the most obscure one here. I love it because she's just so charismatic here. She's so pretty and goth and determined. This is the Joan that I think people love today. Not the real Joan, but the Joan that people want to be. Credit: Paul de La Boulaye. And then there's the weird one without armor, dressed and armed like she was born 200 years later. I like a good unarmored fighter, sometimes. If that somehow wasn't enough for you, Wiki has plenty more. Oh, and here's a period painting of Isabella, the She-Wolf of France in an armored dress. Her story is ridiculous, and you should go read about it. Did I mention there'd be photography as well? Because there'll be lots. I'll credit the models in each pic. Dame Archer. No fighter has ever made a medium armor build look so good. Why don't more fighters have a gorget like that? Tasha Anderson Katie Burman Shaniqua Ogletree LARPer who goes by "Shield Maiden" Anna Vesna The best I could come up for a name was "Nika," with the photo by Veda Wildfire Ira Fedorova Shersten the Golden. Why doesn't your Oath of the Ancients paladin look like this? Cosplay by TophWei. Maybe this is cheating since the design is just a character from the Witcher, but fuckit. Had trouble tracking down the source for this one. But let's thank these Turco-Mongol reenactors for reminding us why fighter is the best choice for an archer build, too. Janina Beck Vidrig on Tumblr "Shakti" Model unknown. Best I could dig up was that this was from Tewkesbury Medieval Festival in 2010. Photo by Paul Saunders. ArmStreet, a company that makes nice-looking LARP armor (but low-quality and not terribly accurate, as many reenactors will gladly tell you) is great at advertising: And here's one specific model, Virginia Hankins, who just has such an iconic look. And a few more from the world of music: Model Ruby Commey portraying "Germania" for a Rammstein music video Janelle Monáe evoking Joan of Arc counts. Naturally my girl is in here, too Alright alright that was getting a bit indulgent. We can return to inspirational illustrations. Here's some miscellaneous artists: Credit: Vicky Leta Credit: Johannes Voss Credit: happyim0v0 on DeviantArt Credit: Deimos-Remus I fucking love that skeleton in the bottom left just simping (respectfully) Credit: Tony DiTerlizzi, duh. Credit: Lucas Cranach the Elder Credit: Walter Crane. This is an illustration of the fairy tale "Princess Belle-Etoile" and just based on my knowledge of the story, I honestly can't tell who is meant to be who here. But my best guess is that the one in armor is the Princess and the other one is the Prince, oddly enough. Credit: Frank C. Papé Credit: Caitlyn Kurilich Credit: Eonsoo No Have a few more fantasy ones: Best credit I could find is "Grafit Studio" Credit: MaximumMiniatures on DeviantArt Credit: Sibylline Meynet Credit: Felix Abel Klaer. Cheating again because this is just Princess Zelda Some people are into Amazons. That's cool and all, but I'm a valkyrie guy: Credit: Edward Robert Hughes. I love that helmet so much. Credit: HACCAN, based on the original design by Nobuteru Yūki and Ishii. Riesz from Seiken Densetsu 3. Protagonist of an old Namco arcade game called Valkyrie no Densetsu. I can't figure out who the artist was for this particular illustration of her. And of course we need a couple from Frida Bergholtz: Finally, I'll close this out with an incredible trio by Sara Kipin: Happy 100th blog post, Knight at the Opera. -Dwiz

Please let us know your foot measurements: - foot length - foot circumference around the ball - heel circumference - instep – instep circumference in the highest part of your foot - ankle circumference - calf circumference - your size Be attentive taking the measurements, they must be taken while standing. Please check how to measure your foot here https://www.etsy.com/listing/216307861/how-to-measure-yourself?ref=listings_manager_grid (picture #4), our video guide is available here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ap2GLoTp67s . “Forest Boots” For Women Medieval Fantasy Boots We have all had that experience of trying on a medieval shoe and being vastly disappointed by the level of comfort they offer. Flat leather soles lead to absolutely no traction control, as well as a lack of support, which becomes a problem when you’re spending a long time on your feet. Our “Forest Boots”, which have become a bestseller of ours, are our creative solution to this problem! They combine a medieval aesthetic with modern shoemaking design to produce a product that is high-quality, comfortable, but still good looking. We specifically had LARPers, SCAdians, Renaissance Faires, fencers and other martial arts in mind when we created these boots. When he joined our team, our master shoemaker was excited to put his expertise in modern shoemaking to use on our medieval styles. But using a modern shoe last, he figured out the best way to create a comfortable shape for you to fit your foot into. We also include a modern sole which is still flat, but offers a little bit of extra support on the inside of the shoe, which compared to a strictly historical shoe is amazing! Other modern adjustments include a non-slip rubber sole (great on the battlefield), strong and neat machine stitching throughout and robust lacing loops. Natural pigskin leather is the main material we have used to construct the boots. It is perfect for this kind of design because it is super strong but also fits live a glove. The design of the boot is nice and simple and aims to not stand out in an extravagant way, but instead compliment the rest of your costume and be a part of it. The shape of the boot is rounded at the front with a slim, flattering profile, which gives them a refined, practical look. They are just about knee-high, going up to your upper calf, with lacing running from the base of your ankle at the top of your foot all the way to the top. Because they open with lacing, you can fit your foot into them but still have a fitted look on your legs. The tongue of the boot is attached on one side and left free to be a split on the other, making it easy to position (a tongue that is completely unconnected to the sides would be difficult to position in the right place and has a tendency to be uncomfortable). The loops for the lacing are made of a strong fabric, which has been attached to the leather with two layers of stitching for extra durability. Strong, extra-long lacing allows you to get the right fit around your leg - it is up to you if you want to cut the lacing shorter once you own the boots, or if you want to use it like a “garter” to wrap around the base of your knee and keep the boots up. These boots are quite generic in a design sense, which means there is an absolutely massive range of costumes and characters that they can be applied to. We’ve found these boots being worn by our customers all over the world, and are always surprised and delighted to see the kind of characters and personas that wear them. Even though these are a traditionally masculine style, we have seen all varieties of characters wearing them: princesses, hunters, rangers, warriors, knights, witches, apothecaries, rogues, elves…. honestly, we couldn’t even list all of them! We can’t wait to see the kind of character you make as well. Even though these boots are comfortable like modern shoes, please remember that they are still medieval and require a little bit of extra care compared to modern materials. Every time you wear these boots, we recommend brushing any dirt or mud out of the seams. It is also a good habit to let them dry completely (24-48 hours) between each wear to ensure there is no extra stretching of the moist leather. "Shoe trees" (or even newspaper) are another great way to preserve your footwear and help it keeps its shape, and boot shapers or finding a way to store them standing up wouldn't go amiss either. Take care of these boots and they will take care of you! Important note about measurements: Please take your measurements attentively - your carefulness will help us make your shoes perfect. You should also remember that natural leather is soft material and it will stretch so when you are getting your shoes it is normal that they fit very slim. It will adjust to the shape of your foot after one or two days of usage. For people with a broad ankle or non-standard leg proportions, we recommend ordering looser shoes, because this model is slim fitting. To check how to measure yourself please click here (see video at the bottom of the page). Please note that the instep measurement "e" is really important for this model. Check this video if you want to know how long it takes to lace up these boots. Please contact us if you have any additional questions. Important note: Brown, Natural and Cream leather shades may vary, as unfortunately we can't control color of leather which comes from our suppliers. Sometimes it may be darker or lighter, so if tone of the leather is important factor for you, please contact us before purchase to ascertain which color exactly we have in stock at the moment. Thank you for understanding. Materials: 100% natural leather; Lacing; Rubber outsole. Features: Modern shoe last; Medieval fantasy design; Knee-high; Adjustable lacing.

I want every item I make to be unique, and I want my customers to have something that is theirs, and theirs alone. The construction process; I design and draft a pattern, alter the pattern to any specific custom requests and I source material. My steel corsets all consist of three layers; a cotton lining, a coutil middle layer (this is a non stretchy, rigid corset middle, and the outer layer of fabric unique to each design (finer fabrics are mounted on an additional coutil layer when necessary). The corsets have 10 spiral steel bones, and 4 flat steel bones, always at least 7mm wide, and, where used, a steel centre front busk and a minimum 1" wide waist stay. All bones are capped, and the ensemble is double stitched on all seams, and top stitched. Bias binding is sewn down by hand to ensure an even, professional result. Eyelets are fixed in with washers to make them extra secure, this is done with a mechanical press. And then I make and attach modesty panels and any embellishments.

Don't want to be recognized by some unleashed spirits on the All Hallows Eve? Not sure if you'd like to be lured into the 'other world' too soon? Do not worry; the Halloween costumes are there for a reason. Traditionally, they were meant to be worn so that the ghosts and spirits wouldn't recognize you and cause you no harm. Today, it's more of a fun tradition, when you can be somebody else, at least for a day. If in the olden days the disguise were more about witches and ghosts, now you can morph into your favorite movie character, an animal and even an object or an intangible idea - creative Halloween costumes are the hype right now.
