Back in the dark ages I did a fair amount of cross-stitch. I loved the shading available with all of the floss colors, but I did not like how expensive it was to frame a piece. Eventually the close work got to be hard on my eyes, and so I put away all my materials and moved on to other things. But seeing the merging of cross-stitching and card making makes me happy, so when I unearthed some 14-count perforated papers in my closet, I thought I'd have a go. I found this pattern through a My Favorite Things printable patterns. supplies: purple, beige, and black card, ecru perforated paper, DMC floss in 3 periwinkles/ 2 greens, 3 strands, Taylored Expressions Garden Party embossing folder, sentiment from Simon's Happy, Memory box Pinpoint Rectangle dies It took me a good 4 hours to stitch this tiny little piece, but it was time enjoyably spent! If you google cross-stitch cards, you'll be able to find lots of small-scale patterns that will work on a card. And I see that you can still buy perforated paper, or you could get yourself one of those dies - Paper Smooches, My Favorite Things, and Altenew all have their own versions. See some HERE. Thanks for stopping by - hope you have a great week!

This past weekend, I finished up a little project – some hand embroidered name cards for my nieces’ birthday gifts. After a little trial and error, and a wee bit of “I’m-in-a-hurry-and-am-going-to-pull-my-hair-out” frustration, they finished up fine and I was happy with the results. About a month ago, I reviewed a book on embroidery on ...

There are a number of ways to prepare your finished cross stitch or embroidery for framing. One of the easiest is to use self-stick mounting board, also called press-on board or simply, sticky board. Sticky board is thick cardboard with a high-tack adhesive on one side. It's acid-free so sticky board is safe for all kinds of needlework, and the adhesive is repositionable so it is particularly forgiving and easy to use.

October 7, 2019--Wow, it's been nearly a month since my last post, and I still don't have anything to share--yet. Lots of fun craziness here in Delaware and I'm working on a Kumihimo project for the CyberPointers Chapter of ANG. The presentation date has been changed to January, 2020, and I hope you'll be able to access the class. In the meantime, I am currently working on two projects--one which will be finished soon and the other is half-way done. Will post about them shortly. Hope you're Fall is beautiful. We're having great weather here.
