This past weekend, I took a bit of a different trip - for me at least. Usually, Eric and I travel solo. We've gotten good at it, and typically spend days on end in just each other's company. But sometimes you want to share those experiences, especially with your loved ones. So last Friday, Eric and I headed out to the Paws Up Resort in Montana with my parents, my sister, and my niece. A full-on family vacation, and our first one together since I was a teenager. sezane will jacket / sezane camisole top / shop redone high rise jeans / dune london boots / vintage belt / missoma london necklace When we first started talking about taking a family trip, we knew it would need to be somewhere with things to do. My niece is 9 years old, so going to a busy city with a bar scene and such wasn't gonna cut it. Plus, moving around in a group of 6 on crowded city streets is my idea of a nightmare, and I think it would have been my whole family's to be honest. So we started looking at more rural locations, and fortunately stumbled upon Paws Up. To be honest, I've known about them for a while, through a few friends who ride horses. I'd been told the place is nothing short of dreamy, so I started researching, and passed along the site to my parents. I got an immediate YES back from them. My mom has always loved horses (she was the 'horse girl' in grade school) so I knew we would have to do some riding. Paws Up is situated on 37,000 acres (!!!) so there's plenty of space to roam. No crowded trail ride, jammed up with a group of 25+ tourists. We were able to hop on horses and ride the morning after we arrived, and it was amazing. It was the first thing I wanted to do when I was there, and I'm so glad we all got to ride together. Some other activities that didn't make the photos? They have a go-kart track (I swear) and archery lessons as well that my niece tried out. I tried to keep these photos of myself since I don't want to really share our personal family photos, but let me tell you, we had an amazing time together. Another thing that drew me to Paws Up, is the accommodations. Rather than ending up with 3 separate hotel rooms (probably on different floors) somewhere else, we were able to all stay together in a 3-bedroom Wilderness Estate on their property. Which meant we could all get together in the morning and leave at the same time, or else have a fire in the fireplace at night. It was nice being under one roof while still each having our own space. madewell denim shirt / jesse kamm pants Normally in my trip photo diaries, I'll rattle off a list of restaurants that we hopped around to in whatever city we're staying in. Paws Up is a bit different, because once you're on the large property, there is no need to leave. They have their daytime restaurant, Trough, which is where we had our breakfast and lunch every day. It was fantastic, and actually appealed to everyone's different diets. At night we dined at Pomp, with this gorgeous view of the property. Being able to have a family meal together nightly is such a luxury, and getting to do that with the sun setting just beyond the porch was even more of a luxury. And again, the food? AMAZING. My sister found vegan options, and Eric and I ended up falling madly in love with this carrot and ginger soup that we tried to order at every meal. Yum. Another thing about Paws Up that made the trip for me was the amount of animals on the property. Bison, cattle, horses, deer, elk, eagles, squirrels, and more - we saw all of it. I got to meet a mustang that is new to the property and currently being trained. He was lovely and I couldn't get enough of spending time with him. My mom got to have some time with the horses too, so it was a bit of an animal-lover's dream come true. And, did I mention that there were seven (that we counted) baby bison roaming the landscape? They're so fuzzy and cute, I was desperate to pet one, but I have a feeling their mothers would have NOT allowed it, so I didn't hop the fence. the frilly suede jacket / jesse kamm pants For this trip, I kept my outfits fairly simple, mostly because I wanted pieces I could mix and match easily. I also love dressing just a little on-theme, so I wanted pieces that felt a little 'cowgirl-esque'. I went to The Frilly's website and customized a full outfit for the trip. If you're not familiar with The Frilly (I wore several of their jackets in the UK last year), let me tell you a little about them. When you visit their site, you'll see that every single piece is customizable. So click on each item, because you can change just about everything about it. The length, the fabric, the finish - everything can be made to match what you want. I 'designed' this suede jacket and had originally planned on styling it maybe once or twice. When it arrived, I was IN LOVE. I wore it every single day of the trip and on the plane on the way there and the way home. I just love the length of it, and how it works with my high-rise pants just as well as it did with my The Frilly Dress (which I also customized). It's probably one of my favorite jackets I've ever owned, and I love that it looks so vintage.

Whenever I'm packing for a trip or going out, I like to think of the perfect thing to wear and then do the opposite. I'd rather be in my coffin wearing something unexpected than alive and predictable. So here's everything not to wear in the greatest city in the world, according to me.

As promised, here is part 2 of my NYFW trip. Some bloggers and fashionistas go for the full week - but for me, I managed to cram in tons of outfits into just 4 days. It was a lot more work that way, but I think NY lends itself to being so fast paced. These photos were shot by Champagne on the roof of our hotel featuring a cozy Lucky Brand dress - since it was so hot, this was an easy look to wear, plus - look at that view! lucky brand maxi / charlotte stone velvet heels After our morning shoot on the roof of the Arlo, I changed and we headed into SoHo to shoot another looks featuring Matisse and Lush. I really loved being able to wear something a little bolder than I normally do, and this blouse felt appropriately Autumnal - despite the heatwave. After we finished shooting this set, we took a bit of a break from running around, grabbed an early dinner, and eventually went out to a rooftop party near Central Park. I think that was one of my favorite things that we did, because the view was so incredible. I'll be sharing photos from that night on the blog this weekend, but it was an evening of not as much work, and more just enjoying the city. A nice break to put the camera down (if only for a night). faux leather mini / lush wrap blouse / vintage purse / matisse vox boots For our last morning in NY, we hit up the Butcher's Daughter for brunch. Somehow we were sat immediately (the brunch gods were looking out for us) and were able to order food super fast. Everything was delicious, and their pressed juices are out of control good. When we finished brunch, Champagne and I walked around and shot one final outfit, which ended up being my plane outfit for the journey home. This look is Lucky Brand, and while I tend to opt for saggy-baggy sweaters on flights, I decided I wanted to wear this look on the ride home. If nothing, than just to feel a bit more chic while traveling, instead of schleppy. A guy at the bar in JFK tried to buy me a drink, so I guess it pays off to keep things a bit more classy for travel. Plus, those mules slipped of realllll easy for a little cat nap mid flight. lucky sweet n straight jeans / embryo mixed media top / charlotte stone mules / knit blazer That's all for now, folks. I'll have a little NYFW video up soon, plus photos from our rooftop party on the blog this weekend. All photos shot by Champagne Victoria.

You may think they look alike now, but the resemblance between these celebrity moms and daughters at the same age is uncanny.
I pride myself on being able to get ready quickly. With a new shorter haircut, I've been able to cut down the time on doing my hair - but being able to have a quicker makeup routine is always my goal. Sometimes I'll only have 5 minutes to get out of the door and on my way to an audition or an appointment, so being able to have a makeup routine that makes that possible is key. I recently partnered with makeup line Charlotte Tilbury to share 2 of their new Quick N Easy sets that can have you out of your house and on the go in minutes - while only using a few simple products. First up - a look they're dubbing Daytime Chic. Since the majority of what I do requires a simple and natural look, this look especially appealed to me. It only uses 4 products, beginning with their Wonderglow illuminator that immediately softens lines and spots, and creates a dewy finish for your makeup canvas. I then used the chunky Beach Stick (in Fomentera) to add a blush to my cheeks and some color to my lips. I love a product that is a multi-tasker like this, because it means fewer things to carry in my purse for touch-ups later. I finished with a swipe of Legendary Lashes mascara and a quick line of their Classic Eyeliner (in Audrey) for a look that took under 5 minutes to complete. To be specific, I got this look in just over 4 minutes, so goodbye to being late for auditions. My next look? A Red Carpet Party look. Now this is definitely where I struggle with what products to use - I'm by no means a makeup expert, so plenty of techniques that make a statement for a dinner party just feel beyond me. But I was willing to give it a go - and I think it turned out really pretty! Using the Wonderglow again, I was able to give myself a dewy look, and then added a darker eyeliner shade (Barbarella brown - love that name) for more of a seductive eye look. I finished with a bold red lip using Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Kiss N Tell & Matte Revolution in Red Carpet Red. I've always had a bit of a clumsy hand when it comes to applying dark lipstick, but I am pleased to say I was able to get this look down in 5 minutes without any major mistakes. Even my husband commented on how much he loved the lipstick - which makes me think I should be bolder and wear it more often. I loved being able to recreate these two looks - but most of all I loved how few products it took, and how quick it all was. You can add in some of your own stuff from home (a dot of concealer here, a swipe of lip balm there) with these kits to create your own easy and beautiful looks. The most important part is to have fun with it - after all, beauty shouldn't always be so serious.
Plus how I decide when to splurge vs. save and why these pieces pass the test
