How Did You Get Here? is a self-help, encouragement book created to show minorities, successful people that not only came from places similar to them, but also that look like them! It is a book and documentary that tells the stories and tribulations of others and how they overcame those situations to be the success they are today. I live and believe that life is what you make it and all about choices we make and what results from them. I believe this book will inspire our youth and be a constant reminder that you can make it and be who you want to be, all it takes is a little faith and work. Mom, entrepreneur, educator, motivational speaker, nonprofit founder and president. At age 31, I have seen and done a lot and I am grateful for my family and everything they rooted in me that has helped me to get through it all and become the woman I am today. A proud African-American, black, negro woman born and raised in the heart of Houston, TX. I have earned my Bachelor's degree in Business Management and Master's degree in Business Administration from the historical Prairie View A&M University. I enjoyed some of my best years there and really set off on my journey that has brought me here. Currently, my team and I are building the foundation of my Nonprofit Organization entitled H.E.L.P. which stands for Healing Each other and Loving our Peeps, which is exactly what we set out to do and so much more. The journey has only begun. | Author: Brittany D. From its beginnings, some of German film's most prominent genres and directors have focused on the natural world and its transformations by humans. Heimat films, "city symphonies," mountain films, and rubble films all blend the boundary between landscape documentary and fiction film. Yet German film studies has been slow to adopt an environmental focus, concentrating (understandably) on its subject matter's political implications. This book reveals critical connections between German film, sociopolitical context, and environment, showing it to have been a creative catalyst for the social and ecological transformation of the Anthropocene. The book first considers the interplay between German film and environmental history in films and discourses of Heimat. Weimar-era films such as E. A. Dupont's Die Geierwally (1921), Carl Ludwig Achaz-Duisberg's Sprengbagger 1010 (1929), and Phil Jützi's Hunger in Waldenburg (1929) document and create a forum for discussing environmental change. The book then looks at film as a visual archive of and catalyst for infrastructure development, focusing on Metropolis (Fritz Lang, 1927), the mountain films of Arnold Fanck, and the Berlin films Stadt der Millionen (Adolf Trotz, 1925), Berlin: Die Sinfonie der Gro stadt (Walter Ruttmann, 1927), and Menschen am Sonntag (1930). Nazi-era and postwar films are also examined. By exploring German film history alongside environmental history and theory, this book provides a case study of the power of film within processes of environmental transformation. This book analyzes the rise of socially and politically engaged Algerian documentaries, created in the period immediately following the end of the Algerian civil war (1991-1999). It uses case studies to highlight the works of four Algerian filmmakers, and devotes a chapter to each: Malek Bensmaïl, Hassen Ferhani, Djamel Kerkar, and Karim Sayad. The book makes visible productions that have been overlooked not only in distribution circuits but also within academia, and examines the political significance and the esthetic power of some of the most influential Algerian documentaries produced since the 2000s. | Author: Meryem Belkaïd | Publisher: Palgrave Macmillan | Publication Date: Feb 01, 2023 | Number of Pages: 155 pages | Language: English | Binding: Hardcover | ISBN-10: 3031191560 | ISBN-13: 9783031191565
