Looking for an engaging way to review the play and help students build meaningful connections between the characters, themes, and motifs of Twelfth Night? Twelfth Night Hexagonal Thinking is an after-reading activity to guide students to create meaningful connections to themes, motifs, and characters within the text. Students dig into the play to create a cohesive honeycomb that engages students in tactile critical thinking. I love watching my groups dig through their copy of the play to find details to support the connections they are making as they create their honeycomb! Here’s what you get: A Google Slide deck with two versions of the activity: A digital version that can quickly be assigned to any LMS. It is designed to require little additional instruction, so students can easily complete it on their own. Students click and drag terms from the play over a honeycomb to create meaningful connections. A print version with dozens of hexagons ready to print, cut, and play! In addition to the terms from the digital version, the print version also includes key quotes from Twelfth Night. There is a separate graphics organizer for students to justify some of their favorite choices. A handy implementation guide with step- by step directions on how to make this activity work for your students This is my favorite way to review any Shakespeare play. Students have to know or learn the characters and their relationships in order to make meaningful connections, which encourages them to go back into the text and other materials to deepen their thinking. It also gets students talking to each other in a low-stakes way with multiple entry points for every learner. There are hundreds of ways to create a honeycomb- every student will have different answers, sparking engaging discussion! Here's what educators say about my Hexagonal Thinking Resources: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This was a great way to get students to make connections and find supporting evidence. I highly recommend this!
